Listening to our Members

While ASCA speaks to our members at many trade shows and smaller network meetings in the regions, we welcome hearing from our members about which of our services are most valued and where we can make improvements. So we thank all of you that took the time to complete our recent member survey.

Canteens that are growing have implemented better menu choices; balancing student demand and prudent economics. They have also taken advantage of the benefits of their ASCA membership, and have implemented online ordering and cashless payment systems for parents and students.

There was much useful information which we will act on. It was good to hear that over a third of member school canteens are becoming more successful, with more students using the school canteen, and profits increasing. However, a similar number are moving in the opposite direction; due to costof-living pressures, restrictions on menu choices due government guidelines, and lack of staff resources and volunteers.

Over 60% of our survey respondents prefer accessing ASCA Canteen Newsletters online, whereas 20% prefer the hard copy newsletter. We will investigate making our online newsletters easier to read, as this is more environmentally sustainable, and we can be more certain that you are getting the newsletters on time.

Wombat Valley, Butter Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

1 x 2kg Wombat Valley Butter Chicken Simmer Sauce

2 kg Inghams Diced Roasted Chicken

1kg Vegetables of your choice

2 x 400g Cans Coconut Cream

Method:

Pan fry Vegetables till cooked. Add Simmer Sauce.

Add Cooked Chicken.

(If using Fresh Chicken pre cook the chicken before adding)

Add Coconut Cream.

Lower heat and simmer for 20 Minutes. Serve with rice.

Yield: Approx. 5kg of mix.

Suggestion: Prepare and serve in Eco cardboard containers. The below containers can be used for storage in freezer and reheating. Please check with your Envirochoice representative.
