PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE As the holiday season is ramping up, I would like to wish everyone Season’s Greetings! May you and your loved ones enjoy a safe and spectacular holiday season. In the spirit of giving, every December, the Truckee Meadows Branch of ASCE joins with the local APWA chapter to host a joint luncheon where a local charity is supported. Thank you so much to APWA for including us in this event. This year’s luncheon will support the Kids Kottage. The event includes a raffle with a tons of amazing prizes. Raffle tickets are available for purchase or will also be given out in exchange for donations to the Kid Kottage. Donations requested are sweatshirts, UNR Wolf Pack gear, shoes, pajamas, board games, art materials, and gift cards for Wal-Mart, Target, and Coconut Bowl (just to name a few). Please come and join us for lunch and in supporting such a great local charity!
With the end of the year approaching, please keep in mind we are concluding our annual ASCE Truckee Meadows Branch sponsorship drive. If you would like to become a sponsor or renew your sponsorship, please get your forms submitted. The deadline is December 15. Below are descriptions of the openings at our Reno location, please visit our website to apply on-line: http://www.woodrodgers.com/careers Civil Engineer Position Summary: The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to, preparing engineering studies for grading, sanitary sewer, drainage and water systems, preparation of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates (PS&E) for infrastructure improvements including roads, sewer and water systems, grading and drainage facilities for a variety of private and public projects. Project assignments may include entitlement/tentative maps and subdivisions and site developments, infrastructure planning, roadway and utility Capital Improvement Programs. Duties require ability to perform engineering analyses and prepare related reports such as hydraulic analyses, alternatives analyses and development of designs using Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) applications. Takes direction from a Principal Engineer, Department Head or Project Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Preparation of engineering analysis, designs, and calculations for private improvements and public works projects Assist in the preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates Assist with construction submittal reviews, Requests for Information (RFI), and other construction related activities Coordinate with other design team members and public agencies Provide assistance to survey and construction management team during project construction phase Other duties as assigned Supervisory and Fiscal Responsibilities: May direct technical support staff on as-needed basis. No fiscal duties are involved at this time, but the ability to eventually take on budget management and invoicing responsibilities would be a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required (Minimum Education and Experience): Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering 3 to 5 years of experience performing the essential duties listed above PE license preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and practices Skilled in the use of computers for AutoCAD, Civil3D and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to gather, organize and analyze engineering data Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work as a member of an engineering team Effective written and verbal communication skills

Dyer Engineering is a local group of driven, high-achieving, dedicated, and reliable professionals. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to provide technical expertise and leadership on a wide range of civil public works projects. This position requires an individual with strong technical and leadership abilities. Technical skills involve the design of various civil design projects ranging from aviation facilities to water resources projects. A strong background in Geotechnical engineering is also preferred. Leadership responsibilities include practicing with quality and integrity, building and maintaining positive client relationships, and open communication with the company team. The position will be expected to manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor junior staff, and provide a positive example for collaborative office culture.
Position Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline At least 8 years of civil design and project management experience with a consulting firm Strong organizational, communication, leadership and technical skills Working knowledge of Civil 3D design software Experience in civil design and analysis
Other Desired Qualifications
Strong experience specifically relating to the design of public works projects especially water resources and/or airport design with a background in geotechnical engineering Expertise in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and Water CAD About the Firm Dyer Engineering is a local company that was founded in 1998. PROJECT MANAGER Lumos is actively seeking full-time professionals in the greater Reno-Tahoe region, with strong skills in designing, consulting, and/or project management. Successful candidates will serve in positions as Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers, for a variety of projects and have 2-8 years’ experience in general civil design. Must be capable of organizing and completing phases of projects including proposal, design, submittal, agency coordination and review process, bidding assistance, and construction administration. Must have ability to solve design problems using engineering calculations and general design standards, and to apply concepts learned through required education and prior professional experience to complete project management tasks. Excellent organizational, oral, written and analytical skills are required, as well as an ability to manage multiple tasks. Proficiency in computer design software programs including AutoDesk Civil 3D is required. B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required. E.I. is required for Project Designers, PE License in the State of Nevada is required for Project Managers/Engineers. Project Managers will manage budgets, technical staff, and reports; contribute to expanding our professional reputation; work closely with other managers throughout the company to promote the company’s business interests in adherence to our mission, vision, and values.
