PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I hope you are as excited as I am about 2016, and that you help us continue our tradition of success. The strength of our organization is premised on the level of involvement by our members. With that in mind, I invite you to call or e-mail me to share any ideas, thoughts or feedback to improve our Chapter. I will make it a point to ensure that you receive a response to communications you send me. You should also feel free to contact any other Board Member or Committee Chair. Looking forward, there are a few events/items I would like to bring to your attention. Our Annual Awards and Student Recognition Banquet will be held at the Peppermill Resort, Reno on March 8th, 2016. Included in this newsletter is the table sponsorship application; if you haven’t sponsored a table yet (table purchase is included with the Corporate Gold Level Sponsorship) we ask that you please consider doing so for this showcase event. Also, the ASCE Project of the Year, Engineer of the Year and the Student Scholarship Application forms are included, and if you would like to nominate a project/engineer, or apply for scholarship, please consider doing so. And as a reminder, we have included the information for the ASCE Mid-Pacific Regional Conference previously posted in our December, 2015 Newsletter. This event to be hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno will be held April 7-9, 2016, and consist of many competitions that will test the participant’s abilities in design, analysis and practical application. Most importantly for our membership, local industry experts within the civil engineering community are needed to judge the competitions. If you are interested, please contact Evan Jordan, our Co-President of the ASCE/AGC Student Chapter. Also in this newsletter, you will read that Ron Anderson is our guest speaker this month. Ron has over 35 years of experience in civil consulting and environmental engineering. Ron’s topic will be Industrial Storm Water Permitting and Design, and we hope that you will join us to learn more about this interesting topic. Best Regards, John Bonnett, P.E.
