President’s Message

Monthly Newsletter October 2018

Like many of my predecessors before me, I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the FY18/19 ASCE, TMB President; the experiences that I’ve shared with many of you as well as current and past Board Members has been rewarding and fun. I want to give thanks to our Past-President, Dan Stucky, for his dedication and years of service as a Board member. I know his leadership has helped pave the way for our success this year. I also want to thank all of you, our Members, for the commitment you have made to sponsoring our Branch, attending & providing great speaker content at our monthly luncheons, and participating in our Younger Members Forum for technical tours and social activities. As part of our 2018 Member Survey we polled our Members to find out what values of our Society are important to you; your message was loud and clear. Our purpose over the course of this coming fiscal year will be to deliver quality presentations at our monthly luncheons and that our current venue is a convenient and central location to do so. We all have busy schedules and making our monthly luncheon accessible and enjoyable is one of our top priorities! With that said, I understand we can’t make everyone happy, so for those of you reading this that had other hopes, thank you for understanding and we will do our best to monitor the impacts that our decisions make.

Minor changes are coming to the way the sponsorships are priced as well as improvements to the benefits that they bring; this will help avoid raising fees for our luncheons. We will continue to promote and ask for support in pre-paying for the luncheons to more accurately predict our headcount. We will also offer a new yearly meal package, at a discounted rate, to encourage monthly attendance and help speed up check-in at the door. For those of you who really enjoy participating in the annual Office Crawl, we plan on offering a new Platinum Sponsorship package; this is your only opportunity to secure a specific time-slot for the event and really focuses the event on your business; the extra money made with this sponsorship will allow us to strengthen our services and offer more in scholarships and financial aid. In closing, the Board is excited to provide yet another fantastic year filled with a multitude of events such as the Banquet, the Office Crawl, the Marv Byars Memorial Golf Tournament and much more. As always, if you ever have any questions about the Board, our Branch, or how you can get involved, our Board Members are always happy to sit down with you.
