President’s Message

Well if you don’t already know, Engineers Week is coming up and this year it is from February 17-23. This is our time to share with the rest of the world what our profession means to us, how we mold and change the way our natural environment is used, how we push the limits of what we once thought impossible, and how critical it is to bring the next generation of engineers online.

Your local board members have already pledged to partner with ASCE National to provide a number of Dream Big DVDs and pass them out to schools in Washoe County. If you have any other suggestions or would like to volunteer please reach out to a Board Member; we are always looking for new ways to engage in our local community.

Our third annual Office Crawl will be happening on February 14th, 2019 from 9 am to 3 pm and has been a great hit over the past few years. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business to students at a personal level and let them explore what your firm has to offer new, or soon to be, graduates. I understand that has become such a hit that we are sold out this year! Yet, another great success story from our amazing Branch.

Lastly, I will remind everyone about the Annual Awards and Student Recognition Banquet which is set at the Silver Legacy this year on March 14th from 5 pm to 10 pm. Nominations for exceptional engineers, young engineers, and outstanding projects will be included in this month’s newsletter. Nominations are due February 8th, so if you have a project or person in mind, don’t hesitate to fill out those forms! This year we invited a magician to amaze and confuse even the sharpest of you out there; you may even get to see your Board Members sing your favorite karaoke tunes if you stay the whole evening. RSVPs for companies, groups, or individuals are now active and you can find them on our website.

I look forward to seeing you all at our next luncheon which is February 12 at 12 pm at the Peppermill.
