President's Message

Take a moment and consider the incredible power of the words “Thank You”. These two simple words express gratitude, humility, understanding, and acknowledgement. As I begin my term as President of our ASCE Truckee Meadows Branch, I say “Thank You.” Thank You for this incredible opportunity to serve as your President, Thank You to our Past-President Randall Rice for his many years of dedication and leadership, and Thank You to all our members for your continued sponsorship and participation.

As 2019 comes to an end, there are still several great events scheduled. Jae Pullen, NDOT, will be presenting the US 395 North Valleys Project at the October 15th luncheon, and John Flansberg, City of Reno, will be presenting on November 5th. Our yearly joint luncheon with APWA is in December; this year’s charity will be announced soon. YMF has several upcoming events as well, including technical tours at Tesla and the Virginia Street Construction Project.

Sponsorship forms for 2020 will be emailed to you soon and will include options to purchase a yearly luncheon package at a discounted rate, a YMF sponsorship, and the opportunity to participate in the ASCE Cup Challenge. There are many benefits that come with sponsorship, including a discounted price for a table at the Spring Awards Banquet with a Gold level sponsorship.

Some of the many exciting events for 2020 include the 3rd Annual Office Crawl, the Awards Banquet in March, the Marv Byars Memorial Golf Tournament in July, and the much anticipated Inaugural ASCE Cup Challenge with ongoing events throughout the year to provide networking opportunities during some friendly competitions. Who am I kidding?... We all want to WIN for bragging rights! The variety of events will require some skill, some brains, and a lot of luck.

As this year’s Board of Directors and I organize another fun-filled, PDH earning, networking year of exciting events,we welcome your ideas and feedback to help us defend our Outstanding Small Section award.

Regards, Kaci Stansbury, PE President, ASCE Truckee Meadows Branch
