2020 ASC Convention & EXPO Preliminary Program

Page 1

The ASC Annual Convention – a must attend event for the industry! Dear Adhesive & Sealant Industry Professionals: Are you ready to reconnect and recharge? As our industry and the rest of the world learns how to move forward in today’s “new normal,” ASC is carefully preparing to bring the industry back together this November by hosting the only industry-wide meeting of 2020. I am, of course, referring to the 2020 ASC Annual Convention & EXPO, to be hosted in Louisville, Kentucky this year from Wednesday to Friday, November 4-6. Manufacturers and suppliers are eager to reconnect, and ASC is enthusiastic about providing first-class networking opportunities through the Convention and EXPO for which we are well known. Still, we know there are important questions about safety regarding face to face meetings during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to providing an option to connect to the event virtually, ASC is working closely with the host hotel, the Omni Louisville Hotel, to create a safe and comfortable meeting experience. I am happy to share that Omni Hotels and Resorts have implemented its “Safe and Clean” Initiative, which follow the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and meet or exceed the industry’s “Stay Safe” initiative. A link to a video overview of that program is available online on the convention event page at www.ascouncil. org. In-person attendees will notice social distancing measures from the moment you arrive. Also, seating capacity and room set-up will be adjusted to promote social distancing. Hotel employees, who have completed extensive sanitation training, will undergo health screenings and a temperature check before starting each shift. Personal protective equipment, including clean masks and gloves, will be worn by hotel associates during their shifts. Increased frequency of sanitation of high-touch surfaces will be conducted using EPA-certified cleansers that are CDC-compliant. Sanitizing stations will be available throughout the hotel. Hand sanitizers and face masks will also be available for every registered attendee. The health and safety of our attendees, speakers, and exhibitors has always been, and will always be, top priority. So, what’s in store for this year’s event? We once again have a great program planned for Louisville which includes:

• Keynote speakers Janine Driver, Body Language Expert, JD Consulting; Robert Fry, Chief Economist, Robert Fry Economics LLC; and Harry Moser, President, Reshoring Initiative • Educational Sessions with 50+ presenters from the A&S Industry • EXPO being held Wednesday from 3:30-6:30pm • Multiple networking opportunities • Adhesive Science Short Course • 2020 Innovation Award Presentation and Scholarship Awards Announcement

We look forward to welcoming you to Louisville November 4-6, or virtually from your remote location. Thank you for your continued support and participation as we adjust our events schedule to help keep you connected to the industry during these challenging times. Best regards, Register Online:

Networking Events

NETWORKING is an essential part of attending an ASC convention. The 2020 Annual Convention allows attendees ample opportunities to connect with hundreds of industry professionals between educational sessions, over lunch, exploring the EXPO and at the receptions.

Welcome Reception FRIDAY CLOSING KEYNOTE & RECEPTION Supply Chain Lessons from COVID-19 for Adhesives and Sealants Harry Moser, Founder & President, Reshoring Initiative® COVID-19 has revealed deadly shortages of medical products due to 90 to 95% dependence on imports, especially from China. Similar dependence is true in many key industry sectors including defense material. It is now clear: shorter supply chains are stronger, more competitive supply chains. We will demonstrate that shorter supply chains are also more profitable for OEM and supplier for 20 to 40% of products. Tools to identify the 20 to 40% will be provided. Examples of adhesive and sealant reshoring and FDI (foreign direct investment) will be presented. Reshoring of adhesive/sealant intense products and how to convince OEMs to reshore more assembly will be presented. Founder and president of the Reshoring Initiative after being president of high-end machine tool maker GF Machining Solutions for 22 years. Awards include: Industry Week’s Manufacturing Hall of Fame, Quality Magazine’s Quality Professional of the year, SPE’s Mold Designer of the Year. Participated actively in President Obama’s 1/11/12 Insourcing Forum at the White House. Frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Financial Times, New Yorker and USA Today and seen on Fox Business, MarketWatch, and other national TV and radio programs.
