Keynotes & Innovation awards TUESDAY OPENING GENERAL SESSION BREAKFAST & KEYNOTE Moving Forward Taylor St. Germain, Economic Analyst, ITR Economics 2020 was quite a year. We will explore all the changes that have occurred in the economy and what they mean to your future. The pandemic, government responses, burgeoning opportunities and lagging sectors will be examined. These forces will shape the trends ahead and drive your tactics and strategies. One thing will not change, successful businesses will have to constantly adapt to a sea of changing circumstances. The US economy and the corresponding impact to various key industries will be examined. We will also: 1. Assess the macroeconomic environment and the outlook for 2021 and into 2022. 2. Look at a system of key leading indicators that are proven to signal cyclical turns in the economy. 3. Present clear, actionable Management Objectives™ that are right for the coming years as we adapt to the ‘new normal’.
WEDNESDAY GENERAL SESSION BREAKFAST & KEYNOTE Adhesive and Material Challenges in VR/AR Devices Dr. Brian Toleno, Manager, Advanced Materials, Facebook Reality Labs The consumer electronics industry continues to introduce not only new features into devices, but entire new classifications of devices. All these new devices and continue to pack more “electronics stuff” into smaller and organic (i.e. not square) form factors. One growing category of devices in this space are augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) headsets. Investment into this space is significant, for example Digi-Capital’s AR/VR Analytics Platform tracked $4.1 billion in AR/VR investment in 2019 and Statista projects the AR & VR market to grow to 124 B USD in 2023. These devices pose some unique challenges with respect to not only the optical requirements, but the electronics to drive these systems. Together we will explore the current technology employed to build these devices and discuss the unique material challenges to enable future technologies in this exciting area.
TUESDAY GENERAL SESSION & LUNCH ASC Industry Update & Awards Presentation Bill Allmond, ASC President Join President Bill Allmond as he summarizes how ASC is delivering value to the membership and the adhesive & sealant industry through ASC’s new 2023 Long Range Plan.
Recipients of the 2021 ASC Innovation Award will be announced and recognized. ASC’s prestigious Innovation Award recognizes outstanding companies that differentiate and make significant impacts in the marketplace through innovation. Additionally, recipients of this year’s ASC Scholarship Program will be announced as well as graduates of the ASC Training Academy Certificate Program. Directly after the presentation, take the opportunity to network with your industry peers.

Short Course Program Description
This course is ideal for adhesive and sealant chemists, application engineers, sales and marketing staff from manufacturers, raw material & equipment suppliers and end users of adhesives and sealants.
Waterborne adhesives are a logical choice for a many end use applications where versatile and environmentally friendly solutions are desired. These low VOC adhesives are easily formulated to optimize performance for a wide variety of applications where water clean-up is important. An understanding of the fundamentals of formulating and use of waterborne adhesives will enhance your ability to select the best polymer and additives package to deliver expected performance and efficiently evaluate and troubleshooting during design, scale up and use this aqueous adhesive class. The two-day course reviews the base polymers used and how to formulate with a variety of additives for specific performances desired for various market applications. Structure/property relationships, characterization methods of components/final formulations, and performance criteria will be covered using case studies.
Monday, October 25 Upon completion, participants are invited to attend the welcome reception.
