Greetings everyone, and welcome to this month’s edition of Mayor’s Minutes.

Need a lift to work? 2022 has been a signifi cant year for the Town We accept early morning bookings and for the Town Council, and we continue to face diffi cult times having gone through covid, an energy crisis, a war in Europe, three prime ministers and the continued cost of living crisis. Despite all that, we have been welcoming and working with Ukranian refugees at our weekly Ukranian drop in Hub. We have recognised some of Oswestry’s brightest stars with my Mayor’s Community Champion Award (Geoff Moore, Kelly and Gary Clarke as well as our latest champion Lenny Worthing) and we have also been continuing to support our towns youth through initiatives such as The Heads Up Project, weekly youth clubs and supporting the early stages of creating a Youth Council. We have seen new events emerge such as Cae Glas Live and much needed repairs to shop frontages and public spaces. Oswestry In Bloom brought home another Gold and also won the best overall in the Large Town category. A huge congratulations to Natalie and the team. As we look forward to 2023, the Council hope to add a new Splash Pad play facility to Cae Glas Park as well. Of course, I’d be remiss if I did not acknowledge the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which will no doubt be what many of us will always remember 2022 for. 2023 will see the Coronation of King Charles, which I am proud to say I will preside over during my tenure as Mayor. We will see continued signifi cant investment in our town, not just fi nancially but also in terms of our working relationships with other local entities such as the police force, through our police partnership panel. I am truly optimistic about what 2023 will bring, and I hope you are too. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please shop local!
