ATS Newsbrief March 2013
As we enter March, we can look back on what has been one of the better harvests in our district for some time. Yields have been good, especially the early sown crops, and given the difficulty of last season’s harvest, it’s a far cry from last year where difficult weather patterns certainly hindered many.
Neal Shaw, Chief Executive
Recently there has been much in the news about the rural supplies industry following the recent merger of two rural supplies co-operatives. It is an industry which is continuing to evolve and develop and I’m sure this won’t be the only change we’ll see in the coming year.
It has been a busy few months at ATS. As this edition of the Newsbrief goes to print all the signs are good that this week’s second annual ATS Dairy Days Out will be a great success. Plans are also continuing to help mark ATS’s 50 years in business. Keep an eye out for further events planned for later in the year. This month also sees ATS attend the South Island Agricultural Field Days at Lincoln from 20 – 22 March. ATS is one of over 380 exhibitors attending this very popular event. It is one of the oldest and largest agricultural events of its type in the South Island, going back 61 years. Those who attend have the opportunity to view changes in technology and can further develop their relationships with other farmers, service providers, scientists and technical experts. The venue covers 35 hectares and usually attracts between 20,000 and 25,000 visitors over the course of three days. We look forward to seeing you at one of these popular events during March.

Meridian Energy invoices Meridian Energy has recently changed the look of its invoices. This also includes the way individual invoices are identified, which has created some issues for members who use Cash Manager Rural. These members will now use their account number for identification purposes instead of invoice numbers as was previously the case. This means members will need to update their systems to recognise the account number from now on. If you need any help with this or you need a list of your connections please contact Tracey at ATS Energy on 0800 BUY ATS (289 287).
Farm Safety Manual and Training for members Today’s farmers and land owners are required to actively manage all aspects of health and safety around the farm. To assist with this process ATS can provide members with access to a Farm Safety Manual and relevant training. Upon completion of the training, members will be able to apply for a discount on their ACC levies. Training dates are on the 26 March 2013 or 16 April 2013 and the cost is $550 (GST and member discount inclusive). Seating is limited so get in fast. For more information or to reserve your spot please contact Peter Jacob on 03 307 5100 or 0800 BUY ATS (289 287), email book@ats.co.nz or reserve your spot online at www.ats.co.nz/farmsafety.
