AIFC v Allexton & New Parks - Saturday 17th August 2013 - www.ashbyivanhoefc.com
CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for the opening game of the Season and may I give a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Allexton New Parks and hope that you enjoy the game and our hospitality. The start of the season is always an exciting one for football clubs all around the Country and I know that our new management team and players are looking forward to todays game and I am sure that you will all enjoy a good game. May I take this opportunity to announce and thank our new club and shirt sponsors, Vision Express who have a greed a 3 year sponsorship with the club and today we welcome Stacey Corcoran from Vision Express to the ground and hope that she brings us luck. Thank you Stacey for your support. The new management team of Tony Hemmings and Karl Payne have really set their standards for the players and it has been pleasing to see the players rise to the challenge that has been set for them during pre-season and lets hope they can maintain that throughout the season when it matters most.. As you will see there has been another summer of progress off the field too with the new pitch and surroundings and this has all been down to the efforts of Mark Pepper, Darren Wearmouth, Dave Buckley, Mick Buckley, Aston Mick, Martin Smith, John Willars and Doug Kendrick, who yet again have rolled their sleeves up and made the transformation you see today. Thanks guys. Additional thanks to Andrew Heath for the outstanding pitch works. We have a growing number of Sponsors at the club and I would urge you all to support them in any way you can and be sure to mention that you are from Ashby Ivanhoe FC as without their contribution to the club we would not be able to sustain our progress and thank you to all our old and new sponsors of the club. All that remains is to hope we all enjoy the game and remember the club house is open for hot/cold food and refreshments during the game and after. Stuart Bonser – Club Chairman

SUNDAY TEAM UPDATE There has been plenty to smile about from the Sunday teams perspective this summer as we look to put missing out on a runners-up spot last season by a single point behind us. A narrow 3-2 defeat to a strong AFC Victoria side who are tipped to do well in Charnwood’s 2nd Division being the only blemish on an otherwise perfect campaign. 4 friendly victories including two ten goal hauls, a highly impressive 6-1 defeat of Charnwood 2nd Division side AFC Sporting Charnwood, and a satisfying win over local rivals Marlborough Rovers Reserves, has left the squad brimming with confidence going into our opening fixture on August 25th away at Alrewas Royal British Legion. There have been many performances worthy of note, none more so than from our strikers both old and new, Warren Nicol looks to be in his best form since joining the team 3 years ago, leading the pre season scoring charts with 10 goals in 5 games. Richard Commons looks to be enjoying his return to the club with 6 pre-season goals to his name. New signings Craig Eastwood (8) and Marcus Fletcher (4) both also making impressive contributions. At the other end the defence marshalled by ever present goalkeeper Adam Davis has conceded 11 goals during those 5 games, a meagre amount for a Sunday League side. Just over 10 different outfield players have contributed to that this summer, Matt Jones and David Lord both putting in separate MOTM performances at the back. The Sunday team will be entered into four different cup competitions this season and the draw for two of which were announced last weekend. We have received a bye in the first round of the Junior Challenge Cup (Div 2,3,4) and will play 2nd Division FC Team Wild in the Presidents Cup (League Cup) on 1st September at Hood Park, this will be our first competitive home fixture of the season for anyone wishing to come down and watch, and there will also be league games at Hood Park on the 8th, 15th, and 29th September. We end our pre season campaign tomorrow, when we take part at a 16 team tournament at Swadlincote Ski Slope. After which I’ll hopefully have more good news to report. Stuart Mann Assistant Manager, Ashby Ivanhoe (Sunday)

UNDER 18s MIDWEEK UPDATE Firstly I’d like to welcome Allexton & New Parks to the NFU for the first day of the season! Well it’s been 10 years since I joined the club and 6 since I started doing the Youth Team but it’s a long time since I’ve been this excited about a new season and I’d like to start by welcoming new 1st Team managers Tony Hemmings & Carl Payne to the club. I think that Tony & Carl have already made a tremendous impact since joining the club and I believe it’s there for all to see as there is a great atmosphere around the club at the moment. I can see improvements everywhere, especially with training as the numbers will testify and it’s also been nice to hear positive comments from the players especially from my youngsters who are loving it down here at the minute. It’s been especially positive for me to see Youth Team players James Rushton & Tom Nolan seal their senior squad status which is richly deserved as both showed their quality last year and have carried that forward into this season. Ex Youth Team Captain Andy Hulley, Dylan Bolt, George Rushton, Matt Samples & Jacob Ewing have also featured and are knocking on the manager’s door which again bolsters the argument as to why we started the Youth Team in the first place. It’s also been nice to see former Youth Team players Jamie ‘Yoza’ Yeomans, Danny ‘Psycho’ Turnock & Jake ‘Own Goal’ Conkay return back to the club after a short hiatus period doing other things. I have to say that my work is just the start of the process of bringing these youngsters through, as Craig Savidge & Paul Foster have done an exceptional job in ‘carrying on’ the development of these youngsters in the Seniors so they must also take some of the plaudits for what has become a very strong Youth Development program here at the club. But alas, none of this is possible without a strong infrastructure and I have to say that the work that Stuart Bonser & Neil Johnson have done behind the scenes has been nothing short of exceptional! The NFU Stadium is looking magnificent and is already beginning to show signs of Stuart’s vision moving forward which is just a massive positive for the town of Ashby! On that note I’ll end my notes because I bet Doug Kendrick is reading this thinking “Jesus, Roomey don’t half go on” So on that bombshell I would like to wish Tony, Carl and all the boys the best for today’s game and I’m sure we’ll be treated to a cracker!! Alex Roome Under 18s Manager

JUNIOR SECTION ROUND-UP ASHBY IVANHOE FC JUNIOR COACHES COMPLETE FA LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE
ASHBY IVANHOE UNDER 11S JESTERS As the Ashby Ivanhoe Jesters U11 coaches, Glenn Bradshaw, Dave Lewis Thomas and Simon Brearley, we are looking forward to our 3rd season with our boys, our first as FA Level 1 Coaches. The club has made a significant investment getting us qualified and we will be looking to use our new found skills during Thursday evening training sessions. Although training sessions have changed, with more structure and focus on development our fundamental belief and focus is on fun and enjoyment. As we move from 7 to 9 aside we have added a couple of new faces to the team (not that new to everyone as they are school mates of most of the team) and the boys are very excited about the new season. We kick off our new season in the Burton Albion U11 Division 1 on Saturday 14th September against our local rivals Marlborough Rovers. Jesters took the local honours last season with a win, a draw and a higher finish (4th), I’m sure this will be a good game to watch. We follow this with a cup match on 21st September against Belvedere Park Juniors, again a team we know well from our first season where they came out on top with a win and a draw against us. To our credit we were the first team to take a point off them in that season where they romped to the title with Jesters runners up. New season, new coaching, new kit, familiar foes, we can’t wait. 16

JUNIOR SECTION ROUND-UP ASHBY IVANHOE UNDER 12S Last season we finished runners up in the Under 11 Division 2 of the Burton Junior Football League. All the players are looking forward to starting the new season this year in the Tamworth League. Newly qualified coaches Phill Windridge and Jack Fargher are looking forward to playing all their home matches at Lower Packington Road this year. Matches usually kick off at 10.30am so added support is always welcome. All of last year’s players have again signed-up but the coaches are looking for a few more. ASHBY IVANHOE UNDER 14S The vast majority of the Under 14s have been together since being Under 9, and are about to start their sixth season in the Burton Junior Football League under the coaching team of Roger Jones and Ian Humphries. Over the years they have enjoyed a huge amount of success including three successive promotions, two championships, and three second place finishes. They have also reached the final of the BJFL Cup, losing only on penalties, and the semi-finals of the Leicestershire County Cup. The Under 14s are an excellent passing side but their main strength is going forward, having scored almost 450 goals in 110 games over five seasons. As newly-qualified coaches our plan for this season is to really accelerate the players’ development, and this will hopefully help the side to win some silverware to add to the successes of the last five years.
