CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Happy New Year and I hope you all enjoyed your festivities with family and friends. May I extend a very warm welcome to everyone who has ventured out today and to our visitors, NFK Burbage FC and their Players, Officials and Supporters and hope we have all enjoy a good afternoon of football. I write these notes in full optimism that todays game is actually going ahead and that by some magic the rain has disappeared and given all football fans the opportunity to watch some local football. Additionally, if we are playing today it will be down to the huge effort put in to fork, sand, fix and make good the very saturated areas of the pitch and I know how frustrating the last 6 weeks have been for all concerned. My thanks go to Ian Irving especially for all his hard work in at least giving us the chance to play today and I for ne see the work he puts in on and around the pitches and how soul destroying that can be when more rain falls, so, Santa, hear our message, “we have all been good boys and girls this year so please, please, please just send away the rain and lets us have the gift of football back”. Again I am writing these notes before the Brocton game and following the Leicester Road game, which was testament to the players and the management team who ran out a deserved 0-1 against the league leaders and again demonstrated that the players are capable of beating anyone. The dispay against Leicester Road was a real team effort right from a superb goalkeeping display from Tom Dyche, to “proper defending” by Macca, to renewed leadership in midfield from Benn, to a sublime lob from Sam Grouse. But the whole team can and should be complemented on their whole performance and the result was deserved. In the New Year the club will be sharing its plans for the ground and future developments and further announcements will be made on social media so please keep your eyes peeled for what could be an exciting future for the Club. All that remains is to thank all the Coaches, Volunteers, Players, Parents, Supporters and Sponsors for their commitment in 2019 and may I wish you all a very Happy New Year for 2020. Good luck to the players today and hope you enjoy the game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police. vs NFK Burbage | Saturday 11th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello all, Happy New Year! Today we are visited by NFK Burbage. Welcome to all that have travelled here today. The results so far this season have been inconsistent but this is normal in a new set up with a new group of players. The combination of this and the fact that they are learning new ideas, does take time. That we certainly have and we will continue to move the club forward both on and off the field. Myself and my staff are strengthened by the addition of a new Coach. None other than Benn Minshull who has agreed to join us in this new capacity, whilst his recuperation continues. The new Skipper on the field is Tom Rowell. A player who I have worked with for many seasons and one who will lead by example. I hope you enjoy todays game and that your support continues. Thanks to you all. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY NKF Burbage FC Club History NKF BURBAGE was founded in 2009 under the name NKF United FC. In NKF United’s first season the team struggled with results on the pitch but off the pitch more than made up for its lack of results and success by establishing itself as a football club with ambition and a solid foundation for success. In the following season NKF United expanded and introduced a reserve team. That provided on field success with the first team achieving promotion to division one of the Leicester and District Football League. The seasons that followed saw the introduction of 3 more teams which included two Sunday sides and a Ladies team and operated throughout season 2012-2013 with 5 teams and over 200 playing members. NKF United then became a commercially run organisation in which the then chairman, Rigel Statham became a fulltime member of staff for a period of 3 years in an attempt to secure NKF United’s future growth. In 2011 NKF United won promotion to the Leicestershire and District League First Division. In 2013 NKF changed its name to NKF Burbage and the 2014-15 season saw them finish runners up in the Premier Division gaining promotion to the Leicestershire Senior League Division 1. NKF’s first year in that league saw them finish runners up to Shelthorpe Dynamo. The club joined the Midland Football League for the 2016-17 season which also meant a move away from their Britannia Road home to ground share with Barwell FC at their Kirby Road Sports Ground. Placed in Division 3 they finished the season winning the league by 9 points and also won the Challenge Vase by beating Northfield Town in the final. Success also came in the Leicestershire Saturday Intermediate County Cup where they defeated Thurnby Rangers 4-0 in the final. The 2017-18 season was the most successful in the clubs history winning four trophies. They won the Division 2 title and completed a league and cup double beating Fairfield Villa 3-1 in the Les James Challenge Cup Final. They also won the Presidents Cup with a 2-0 win over Feckenham and won the Leicestershire Senior Cup by beating Heather St Johns 3-2 after extra time in the final. 2018-19 saw their first season in Division 1 finishing a creditable 6th. However, a first round loss to landlords Barwell, 1-0 saw them exit the Leicestershire Challenge Cup. In the Midland Football League Cup a good run to the final saw them beat Long Eaton United and Coventry Sphinx in the quarter and semi-finals before they eventually lost in the final 2-0 to Romulus. The club entered the FA Vase for the first time at the 1st qualifying stage where they beat Lutterworth Town 2-1. They had further victories against Cradley Town, Bustleholme and Stourport Swifts before eventually losing to Shepshed Dynamo 3-1 in the 3rd round. The 2019-20 season will see them try to improve and last season league position and again have good runs in cup competitions. vs NFK Burbage | Saturday 11th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE First of all I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for today’s game. The knights have had a couple of weeks without a game in the league due to the poor weather conditions. However the last time out in the league we had a fantastic 3-1 win against County Hall who we had two very good games against last season. The lads showed fantastic character and played some of the best football we’ve played all season and fully deserved the win. Since that game we had the long trip to Cottesmore in the league cup with a few players out due to injury and illness including the gaffer. So I’d like to thank the lads and Paz for their efforts even though we didn’t get the result we wanted. This weekend sees us up against Rugby Borough who have started the season very well and we know it will be a tough game but we are very confident as they also play on a 3G which suits our style of play. The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division 1, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runnersup on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth vs NFK Burbage | Saturday 11th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
