CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to the NFU Sports ground for todays first team game against our visitors Heath Hayes and may I extend a warm welcome to all the players, officials and supporters of Heath Hayes and hope you enjoy our ground and hospitality. Last Tuesday witnessed another milestone for me at the Club and that was centred around 2 elements, 1 being that we played and beat Hinckley FC and who would have thought one day that Ashby Ivanhoe FC would be playing Hinckley, let alone beating them in the same league and deserved too and the 2nd milestone was that the squad that faced Hinckley was probably one of the youngest we have fielded as a first team and one that had 3 x 16 year olds in the squad and one, Owen Gibbons, that started and did really well along with Ryan Dowling and Ben Windridge who were on the bench. The squad was also made up of “home grown” players in the form of Kerr Horn, Harry Stewart, Jack Robinson, Jake Warriner to name a few. However, the most important and over-riding aspect of the Squad was their togetherness and their focus as a Team, which has saw them bounce back after 2 defeats and this is where the real strength of the squad lies. Congratulations to Sam Grouse who has fitted in well and started his scoring spree on Tuesday as we welcome him from Barwell and I know this will help take a lot of pressure of Kerr Horn, who, I have to say, is turning into a real player for the team and the Club and his work rate has been immense since we re-started and I know that he will grow even more now that he has some help up front. The blow to the squad is the injury to Captain, Benn Minshull, and let’s hope his assessment on Tuesday is better than he hopes for. Benn has been a really influential player and has took the maturity of his game into the leadership of a Captain and his presence will be missed on the pitch but the real value of a player is being around when he’s not playing and I know Benn will still be motivating from inside the changing rooms and from the sidelines as he still remains part of the squad and a squad that is not about one player. Last weekend saw the Club host 5 junior games on Saturday morning from Under 7’s to Under 10’s and if you ever get chance to come down on a Saturday then please do as you will see a great spectacle happening in font of your eyes and one which we have established this year as a Club. This is another positive move for the Club and the volunteers continue to find ways to improve, manage and drive this club forward and it is still reported by visiting teams every week that we have a fantastic facility and venue and a very well ran club. All that remains is to wish the players well in todays game and hope we can now start to put a run of wins together in the league. FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello again all. Today we host Heath Hayes, a team we narrowly beat in the F.A. Vase earlier this season. We welcome all involved with the club. Our recent games have been very informative and I believe we've learnt a lot about where we are in our development. Two narrow defeats 0-1 v Studley and 2-3 v Coventry Copsewood have been followed up by a comprehensive 4-1 victory v Hinckley AFC. I hate making excuses as a manager but we have been light on numbers due to suspensions, injuries, and holidays! None more disappointing than the possible long term loss due to injury, of our skipper Benn. We wish him a very speedy recovery. However the plus side of the absentees is that we've had the opportunity to field more of the Knight's and youth team players. They have acquitted themselves very well indeed and that obviously bodes well for the club's future. Finally, I apologise for my absence today but leave the club in safe hands and look forward to another improved performance. Enjoy the game. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Heath Hayes History Founded as Heath Hayes United later Heath Hayes Cons. In 1965 we broke away from Heath Hayes CO-OP Youth Club and formed our own team which we then called Heath Hayes United. The first season was spent in the Cannock Youth League and we ran the team from the Five Ways Inn, because of this we were not very popular with the Area Youth Organiser. After that we joined the Cannock Chase League Division Two, rapidly gaining promotion to Division One and then into the Premier League as well as having a brief flirtation with Sunday football. We also changed our headquarters to the Constitutional Club, so the club then took the name of Heath Hayes Cons F.C. In the early 1970`s the club spent a couple of seasons in the Mid Staffs League, before joining the Staffs County League (South), where we spent 15 very mixed and eventful seasons. In 1989 the Club moved back to the Five Ways and changed our name to Heath Hayes F.C. We also took the bold decision to join the Staffordshire Senior League. We then changed leagues again to the West Midlands Regional League in 1996 where we spent 10 seasons. During this time we became winners of the League Division 1 in the 98/99 season and won the Staffs F.A. Senior Vase Competition in 2002. Changes occurred in 2006 when a new committee and new manager Simon Davies were appointed. This included Paul Mallen as the new Chairman. Due to boundary changes the club was moved into the Midland Combination Premier Division where we finished a respectable 8th. The 07/08 season saw the introduction of the clubs first junior team, with Heath Hayes Under 12’s competing in the Lichfield recreational League. The senior team had a successful run in the F.A. Vase and also reached the final of the Walsall Senior Cup. 08/09 season proved to be a successful season as the club won the Staffordshire Vase by beating Ball Haye Green in a gripping final. It was also the first time the club had been entered into the F.A. Cup but unfortunately lost their opening tie. 09/10 Saw the club achieve charter standard status and made history by winning the league title promoting them into the Midland Football Alliance. At the end of the 2012/13 season Simon Davies stepped down as first team manager after 7 years, with Steve Taylor taking over after a spell with the junior setup. Hayes survived relegation that year and the club also celebrated it’s 50th birthday with a party in a marquee on the pitch at the end of the season. The continued growth of the club that year resulted in Hayes having the largest number of junior teams it has ever had in its history, with 16 teams ranging from under 7’s to under 21’s. Taylor resigned from 1st team manager role soon after the 2014/15 season began and Simon Davies returned to the club only 18 months after he had left. The club again avoided relegation by the narrowest of margins that season, but the following season the club could not repeat this and were unfortunately relegated to Division 1 of the newly formed Midland Football League. The Under 21’s however had a successful season, winning the North West League title. Last season Davies took charge again and further progress occurred at the club as the partnership with The Five Ways pub, which had been its base for after match hospitality for years, ended and the club had its own base on site. Davies steered his young Hayes side to a creditable 8th position and also clinched the Staffs Senior Vase for the 3rd time in the clubs history. For the 2016-17season, life president John Deans took over as Chairman of the club. On the pitch Davies started the season but resigned in November, with Jamie Hawkins taking over as First Team Manager. Further changes took place at the end of the season with Craig Brotherton taking over as Manager and John Simkin becoming Chairman. Further changes took place at the end of the 2017-18 season with Steve Cooke taking the Managers role and Mick Robinson becoming Chairman. vs Heath Hayes | Saturday 12th October 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

WHO’S WHO AT THE CLUB Let Us Introduce - Neil Johnson My first involvement with AIFC came as a result of playing cricket with many of the then players at Ashby Northfield CC and as was always the case more volunteers were needed so I agreed to become club treasurer. This was in the early 1980’s and I remained in post for around 20 years, during that time the club ran senior sides only with the exception of 1 junior team which caused so much hassle never again we said – how times change! The biggest challenge during that time came when the old wooden pavilion was condemned, a replacement was provided but as part of a bigger plan involving the creation of the artificial pitch on Ivanhoe School and the extension to the leisure centre we relinquished the pavilion for purpose build changing rooms within the leisure centre and for the first time a formal lease giving the club the chance to improve its facilities and potentially move up through the league structure. I then stepped back for a few years but following a call and discussions with Stuart Bonser and Dave Morris came back on board as the clubs Facilities Development Manager with the first job to get floodlighting installed on the park and then develop the ground to allow league progression. It was around this time we incorporated the David Hunt Soccer School into Ashby Ivanhoe FC Juniors another milestone for the club. The lights went up and the 1st team won the Senior League Prem but my efforts to persuade the council to support on-going upgrading works at Hood Park failed due to unforeseen legal issues so with further progress dependant on attaining FA ground grading we negotiated a lease for the club to move to Lower Packington Road which at the time was semi derelict and certainly a challenge! The seven years since have been hard work but incredibly satisfying to see results both on and off the field, moved the floodlights, changing rooms, stands, paths, patio, dugouts (twice) moved the main pitch, the list goes on. On the field we gained promotion to step 6, into the FA Vase, FA youth cup & the FA Cup and the juniors have increased from 50 to 200 plus the soccer school. A further spell as treasurer, period as bar manager and now chief cook and bottle washer (literally!) We now have a club providing football for all ages, a Ladies team and have a club house and grounds which is the envy of many who visit, we are recognised as a very friendly and welcoming club and I am proud to have played a part along with many others in making that possible. vs Heath Hayes | Saturday 12th October 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE First of all I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for this afternoons game. Hopefully they can achieve another win and built on a fantastic performance and result against Hinckley in the week. Was very pleasing from the Knights management that so many of our players were involved in the squad. Going onto the Knights another mixed performance of Saturday which we narrowly lost 3-2 against Hathern. Yet again there was many positives to take from the game including a debut goal for Harvey Cunningham. Hopefully on Saturday we will start better than we have been and get the 3 points we desperately need. Moving onto this Saturday we are faced up again Sibley Town which will be a tough test but one we are very much looking forward to and hopefully getting the win. We hope that you can all get down and support the Knights for our next home game down the NFU. Robbie Avins Ashby Ivanhoe Knights Manager

The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runnersup on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
