CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s FA VASE game against SANDBACH United and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Sandbach United FC and hope you enjoy our hospitality and that we all enjoy a good match. Firstly, I would like to start my notes with: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICK, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICK, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK BUCKLEY (70th), HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU – From all at the Club may we wish Mick Buckley a very Happy 70th Birthday for 16th September. Many of you will know Mick and he has been involved with the Club for many years and I have got to know him more over the years that he has been involved at the club and can count him as a true friend and a dedicated volunteer of the Club and I know his family and friends will agree he’s a “top bloke” – enjoy your day. The FA VASE is a great competition to play in and I am sure the players feel that too when they walk out today. The management team have been working hard with the players since the start of the season and I know that Andy and his team will have the players prepared the best they can for today’s game. I would like to welcome the players of the new Under 7’s teams today as they walk out with the players onto the pitch and whilst this is not a Premier League game, we believe in creating a memorable experience, here at Ashby Ivanhoe FC, and I know the young players will love the experience of walking out with the players today. Todays mascot is Harry and he plays for our Under 9 Knights in Goal but unfortunately has injured his wrist so is out for a few weeks. We wish you a speedy recovery Harry and you are what I refer to as a “real keeper”. The Knights are away today, and we wish them well in their travels. The management team of Rob and Andy have taken the introduction of youth players into the squads well and I wish one of our newest signings, Owen Gibbons well if he features in the squad today. All our Junior teams kicked their season off last weekend and remember you can catch them playing their games on either Western Park, Hood Park or even the NFU pitches now as we play host to our Under 7’s – Under 10’s teams. All that remains is to wish the players luck today and hope we all enjoy a good match. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman vs Sandbach United | Saturday 14th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello to you all. It's been four weeks since our last home game and in that time we've played three games. Of those games we've suffered one defeat and gained two wins. The first game took us down the road to Ibstock where we faced Hinckley AFC. We lost 3-0 and the result was fair. We were missing eight players and simply were not competitive because of it. We drew a line under that and moved on to our next fixture. That saw us away to Kirby Muxloe. After a slow start we dominated proceedings and ran out 1-2 winners. This was a very pleasing performance. It was also an opportunity to involve a couple of youth team players as we were again short on numbers. Ryan Dowling played 20ish minutes and proved he's a talent and one for the future. The highlight of the day however was the skipper Benn Minshull's winner. What a strike! Our last game was in The Vase. We were again on our travels. This time to Heath Hayes. Another 1-2 victory and a strong performance saw us through to the next round. A brace for Lewis Pointon was worthy of his efforts on the day. That victory brings us to today's fixture against Sandbach. We welcome them and their travelling support and wish them all the best in their league. Not of course in today's competition! Enjoy your day and thanks for your continued support. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Sandbach United FC History Sandbach United Football Club was established in 2004 when Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers joined forces in their quest to improve the football facilities in Sandbach. Hence the R & A on the club badge. In January 2004, the membership of Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers voted in favour of amalgamation, with the aim of playing as a single club from the start of the 2004/5 season.; Sandbach Albion was formerly known as Hays Junior Football Club and was founded in 1994, playing on the pitches of what was then Albion Chemicals.; As health and safety issues became more prevalent in the 90's they left that site and for 5 years the Senior home ground was at Sandbach cricket club.; The younger sides played their games at junior schools throughout Sandbach. Sandbach Ramblers Youth Football Club was formed in 1995 to provide access to schoolboy football for the youth of Sandbach. Of course there had been a Ramblers team in the town before, Sandbach Ramblers were initially formed over 100 years ago, playing in the Cheshire County League and winning the Cheshire FA Senior Cup in 1914, before folding in 1975 reforming in 1979 and disbanding in the late 1980s. In 2006 Sandbach United formed the adult team, which initially competed in the Crewe and District League before moving to the Staffordshire Senior League First Division and then being promoted to the Premier Division for the 2008/9 season. In 2011, the club was awarded grants by the Football Foundation and the local council of over ÂŁ2 million to build a 3G pitch and 9 grass pitches, together with changing rooms and an education facility. The Sandbach Community Football Centre was opened early in the 2011/12 season.; United switched to the Cheshire League in 2011 and won promotion to the Premier Division for the 2013/14 season before moving to The North West Counties Division one league for the 2016/17 season. The clubs first season in the NWCFL D1 League was better than they could have dreamt, winning the Macron Club of the Month in December, finishing in 6th place and the playoffs in Division 1 as well as being Reusch First Division Challenge Cup Runners up. Their goal keeper, Ryan Moss also collected two Reusch Keeper of the Month awards. In another first for the club, the 2017/18 season saw the club enter The FA Vase with a home 2nd Qualifying Round fixture against AFC Emley.; The club has over 600 players and 40+ teams that operate from its Hind Heath Road base. United have teams playing in the Mid -Cheshire Youth League and the Cheshire Girls League among others and the age range covers adults and veterans teams right down to Soccer School for Reception and Year 1 children. ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE First of all I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for today’s game. It would be brilliant for the whole club if they could put a good run together in the FA Vase. Moving onto the Knights we are away today against Asfordby which we are hoping to gain 3 points and kick start our season after a couple defeats in the league. We showed good grit and determination in the league cup against Dunton a couple of weeks ago and we need to use that and build on it. Last weekend was a disappointing result for the lads as we played some very good football in the first half against GNG on a tight and uneven surface but unfortunately all of the joy we were getting in the first half we couldn’t yet again take our chances and at this level you need to do that else you will get punished. Moving onto the second half we didn’t really come out. Started to make mistakes and stopped doing what we did so well in the first half which in the end resulted in GNG getting a goal and winning the game 1-0. We hope that the next time the Knights are at home you can get down and show the lads your support. Robbie Avins Ashby Ivanhoe Knights Manager

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division 1, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runnersup on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still vs Sandbach United | Saturday 14th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. WHO’S WHO AT THE CLUB Let us introduce - Gary Timms - Head of Player Recruitment I guess I am here today as is with everyone and that is for my love of football... despite having a go at lots of other stuff nothing has ever come close to this great game.

I have played for and Managed football clubs within the county and having moved into the area 2 years ago, came down purely to ‘watch a few games’. Having seen what goes on and the way that it is run inspired me to get more involved and have recently taken up the role as Head Of Player Recruitment.

I believe that our first thoughts on recruitment should always start from within and this should tie in with the junior and youth sections that we now have at the club. My aim would be to help the club provide a pathway of development for anyone who wants to progress, through encouragement skill and knowledge.

We must try and get this into our DNA and this will help our younger members stay with the club and ultimately into the senior section.

I was prompted to recount any experiences of games in the FA Vase in which we play today, and I was reminded of 1 such game. This was away at Oldbury when I was managing with Ibstock United. On the night we were comfy leading 2 nil however as is with football the momentum swung and we found ourselves 2-2. I must admit at that point I had little or no faith that we would progress however the boys dug deep and eventually won the game 3-2. At the time when it was 2-2 Oldbury had a penalty, undoubtedly if scored they would of won... the result confirms it was saved, no prizes for knowing A who prompted me to recount any FA Vase experiences ? B reminder of that particular match? C who was the keeper who made the penalty save?

In addition attending todays game is a personal friend of mine named John Owen. In 1991 - 1992 season John O managed Tiverton Town to the final of the FA Vase where they lost 1.nil to Bridlington at Wembley. They took 19 thousand fans and in his words it was a great day. Tiverton went back to the final 2 years later and won and in the bar later he will tell you that although he was not the manager It was his team that he had built !! vs Sandbach United | Saturday 14th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com
