CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s first team game against our visitors Barrow Town FC and my I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Barrow Town and hope we all enjoy a good game.

It was pleasing in last weeks game to see how the players responded after half time and good that players are now acting on the instructions provided by the management team. The transition of any change is an important one and I am pleased with how Andy and his team have settled in and starting to get their message across to the players at the club, and I mean players, as he has took the opportunity to try and evaluate each player and give them a fair opportunity and I am sure the players will have appreciated this. Whilst I know that Andy is a winner and will want to win, the early mandate was to assess what players we have under our nose and establish a strong team to move forward and having had the opportunity to do this, I know that the team will be better off going forward and stronger to start putting wins together.

The Knights missed out last Saturday on closing the gap between them and Wymeswold but my thanks go to the players and to Rob and Andy during this transition period and how they have conducted themselves too. They have adopted the club approach and not took a selfish view of retaining players and not working as a combined effort for the larger squad that is the Knights and First Team, so well done guys and I know you will definitely push on in the coming weeks.

This Tuesday sees the First Team play in the Semi Final of the Senior Cup against Heather with the game being played at Heathers ground. Please come along and show your support for the team as I know that faces watching can inspire a team too to victory and one thing we have is a great following of supporters so please show your support on Tuesday and whilst we may be going in to the game as under dogs, we all know what surprises those games bring.

All that remains is to wish the players the best of luck in today’s game and let’s hope we can come away with a confidence boosting win.

Regards

Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello to you all again. As promised we made a number of changes to the team/squad last week and it gave me a further insight into the depth and ability of the players currently at the club. The narrow 2-1 defeat was disappointing mainly because of our 1st half performance. We were slow out of the blocks and allowed the opposition to take the early passages of play and as a result, they dictated proceedings for most of the half. Our attitude and work ethic were below the standard expectable although this wasn't helped by the early injuries which enforced two changes in the opening minutes. I few tweeks and a change of attitude saw us come out in the 2nd half and produce an improved display. However we lacked the quality to get a result and i think that Kimberley edged the game and deserved their win. The progression on the playing side, will of course take time but the backroom staff and myself can see the improvements in training, and will strive to work with the players to improve performances and ultimately results. Today we welcome Barrow and look forward to an entertaining game. I hope you enjoy your afternoon. Andy Gray 1st Team Manager FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Barrow Town Football in Barrow upon Soar has its' origins in the late 19th century. The team, known as the Barrow Rising Stars were based at The Railway Inn (now the Soar bridge), and played their football near the Mill. Members of the Loughborough and District League, they were formidable opposition as their record shows they were winners of Division 1 in 1901/2 and 1902/3 and also Division 2 Champions in 1911/12. Cup success included the Bass Charity Cup, Rolleston Cup, and the County Cup. In one particular season four trophies came their way. The early years of the 20 th century saw the birth of the Old Boys (now Barrow Town). This team also played down "Mill Lane", and comprised mainly of boys from the village grammar school. The Old Boys were members of the Leics. Mutual League and for a while were based at Cotes Road, before moving to North Street and joining the Loughborough Alliance. After the Second World War, The Old Boys reformed in 1947 and entered the Leicestershire Senior League with immediate impact. They reached the semi-final of The Senior Cup but were beaten by Whitwick Colliery. The competition also included Leicester City Reserves. In 1968/69 The Old Boys finished runners-up in Division 2 and were promoted to what was then Division 1, they were also winners of The Loughborough Charity Cup and The Sileby Cup. Soon after Barrow moved to their current headquarters at Riverside Park under the new title of Barrow Town. The success of 68/69 was emulated by the team of 92/93. After winning Division One in 1992/93, the club were promoted to the Premier Division as Champions. The 94/95 season was a landmark in Barrow's history with a number of records being broken. Highest ever placings for the 1st and 2nd teams. Ian Hunter's haul of 61 league and cup goals. 119 goals scored, with an 18 game unbeaten run-in, culminating in being pipped to the Premiership title by one point. The club grew in stature and remained in the Premier League until 2008, finishing as runners-up in 1994–95, 2002–03, 2005–06 and 2007–08 and winning the League Cup in 2002–03 and the Loughborough Charity Cup again in 1996–97, 1998–99, 2000–01 and 2006–07. In 2008 they became founder members of the East Midlands Counties League, where they have remained since. In 2011 -12 they reached the third qualifying round of the FA Cup and in 2012–13 they finished as league runners-up. The village of Barrow has had a thriving junior football set up for over 25 years. At the end of the 2017/18 season the Barrow Town and Barrow Juniors committees merged in order to form one club. ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE Once again I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for today’s game.

No game for the knights today which is frustrating for me personally after a draw last weekend against an Anstey Town side who we should have beat.

However Magna managed to draw with Wymeswold which means that the gap at the top of the table is still four points.

In the next coming weeks the Knights have two very tough games against Lutterworth and Barrow town which me and Paz will be looking for a response and hopefully six points.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY

19 4 8 - 2 01 8

70 YE AR S

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
