PRESIDENT WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for our home game against West Bridgford FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of West Bridgford FC and hope you enjoy our hospitality. Last weekend saw players and parents join the precession march to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 and a wreath was laid on behalf of the club by Oscar Clarke, joined with myself. The event was again well supported by the community and I am proud that we played our part as one of the sports clubs in the Town. All teams observed a minutes silence before their respective games too and the Under 16’s actually stopped their game at 11am to observe 2 minutes silence in line with the event on Market Street. Take a look on social media for the photos associated to this very important act of remembrance. The first team suffered a defeat at the hands of Belper last weekend and I am sure the players will want to bounce back today and start moving up the league as a few wins will progress us quickly as it still remains very tight on the way up with lots of points to be gained. The Knights ground out a result at Earl Shilton which keeps them in a great position in the league. Our Junior teams were all in action last weekend too and we will be sharing more write ups and results for the respective teams in the coming programmes so you can keep upto date with how they are all doing. It still remains a very pleasing sight to walk through Hood Park, Western Park or even the NFU now and be able to see a team representing the club playing their respective match and often there are 2 games happening simultaneously, so please show your support too for our junior teams if you find yourself with some time on a Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. The Knights Community Clubroom and Sports Bar - sponsored by Oak Green Design and Construction, has hit the ground running and has been extremely well supported since its launch 2 weeks ago and the feedback has been brilliant from people who have stopped by for a drink and catch up with friends. This is testament, yet again to the hard work volunteers put in to revamp and staff this facility and all the increased revenue and profit will be ploughed back into the club to continue to improve the facilities for the good of everyone at the club. However, I must state for the record that there still remains certain individuals who despite what we do as a club and as volunteers, merely want to cast allegations that individuals are profiteering from the club or they persist in their quest to make negative comments about the club and how we operate. To avoid any doubt no one profiteers from the club and all monies raised go back into improving the facilities and experience in the best way we can. Now don’t get me wrong everyone is entitled to an opinion but my suggestion to those individuals, who know who they are and am sure may be reading this, is step up to the plate rather than spend your energy in a negative way, why don’t you come forward and put that energy into actually helping the club as I am a believer that wherever there is a problem there is always a solution and if you are not prepared to find the solution I would suggest you simply don’t comment at all or more importantly if you are unhappy just leave as life’s far too short to not enjoy being involved in anything you choose to do. Here is one very important example - the combined volunteer hours that were extended to the club during October reached 876 hours. All for FREE and with NO personal benefit other than that of feeling good about helping the club improve for the benefit of everyone, whether that be for football reasons or social. If we were an operating business this would have cost the club over £5000 in wages. However, the combined number of volunteers gave their time for free and there is a lot that happens during a week that these seemingly ignorant individuals don’t see or more importantly don’t appreciate. The club growth that we see today is as a direct result of a large number of volunteers that have made this all happen and provided a club and facilities that they can all be proud of. I will update you all in my next notes on the current status of the ground and plans that we have in place going forward. For now enjoy the game and good luck to the team. Regards Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to the NFU, home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. I welcome the players, supporters and officials of West Bridgford today to what will be an important game for us today. As I write this I am currently hoping that we would have strengthened the squad ahead of this fixture. It has been a tough few weeks with injuries and suspension and I feel that the squad would benefit from the addition of 1 or 2 players in key areas. The good news is that Jake Conkay is back following suspension which is welcomed news. In addition, I am hopeful on a few injury concerns. Key to success in this league is being able to maintain a relatively consistent squad and first 11. This has been an impossible task for us so far this season and something I am hoping will improve as we go into this winter period. We are within touching distance of a close group of teams that occupy the middle of the table so a win today will be essential to continue to get amongst them, build confidence and push on. As with all our games, it is our intention to go out with attacking intent. Enjoy the game, keep the faith and please be vocal in your support.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY WEST BRIDGFORD West Bridgford Colts Football Club was formed in 1990 with the simple ethos of providing local youngsters with a game of football. From the start our strategy was to provide football for all, not just the more able players. We were one of the first junior clubs in the area to regularly field multiple teams at the same age group. Starting off with a couple of boys’ teams the club grew steadily, resulting in us running 18 teams by 2000. In 1994 we signed a lease for the Coronation Ground in West Bridgford. This provided us with a base with a clubhouse, as well as 3 x 11-a-side pitches and a number of different sized small sided pitches, for our 5, 7 and 9 a side teams.
In 1996 we started the girls section, which has grown steadily every year, resulting in the Ladies team, West Bridgford Ladies, being formed in 2006.
In 2008 the club signed a 25 year lease for our current home, Regatta Way. The Coronation Ground having been purchased by the council to build a new school. The club took the wise decision to install floodlights at the new ground with an eye of the future of the club as we always hoped to run a successful men’s team. 2010 saw the formation of West Bridgford Colts Vets.
We formed the senior men’s 1st team, West Bridgford Football Club, in 2011 to provide an exit route for our players. We achieved promotion from Division 2 of the Precision Notts. Senior League, finishing runners-up, as well as reaching the final of the Nottinghamshire Intermediate Cup, losing narrowly after extra time. In the season 2013-14, we again finished runners up in the 1st Division, to be promoted into the Senior league of the NSL and last season, 2014-15 we were runners up in the senior league, and finalists in the NSL cup, losing out to Wollaton on both occasions. In the 2015-2016 season we finished 3rd in the NSL premier league which gave the team promotion, and won the Nott’s FA intermediate cup.
During 2016, the club installed hard standing around 2 edges of our pitch, a 100 seater spectator stand and enclosing the pitch with fencing as we planned for the future development of the club. The total spend was something just over £50,000. This along with our team’s efforts on the field ensured we achieved promotion into the EMCL.
The team won the EMCL in the 2016-17 season but elected not to take promotion into the Midlands League.
We are a Charter Standard Community Club which this season comprises of over 90 teams with 1300 players and are the biggest football Club in the country. (By teams)

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE I would like to wish Craig and the lads all the best in today’s game.
Another pleasing win for the Knights on Saturday with a 1-0 win away at Earl Shilton. It was a frustrating game for the lads as Earl Shilton made it hard for us to break them down and we created a lot of chances but it was just one of those days. However we managed to get the win and another clean sheet which is our 5th out of nine league games.
Going into half time 0-0 wasn’t a fair reflection on the game as we hit the post a couple of time and created plenty of chances. In the second half we started the much stronger side and dominated the game but still couldn’t score. We finally managed to get the goal with 5 minutes to play from Danny T. The goal came from a free kick from outside the box that skipper Liam Donaghy drilled in and the keeper couldn’t keep hold of the ball and dropped to the feet of Danny who made sure that the Knights left with all 3 points which kept us one point off the top.
This weekend we are away at Loughborough FC which won’t be an easy game as they have made a strong start as well. Me and Paz are confident that the lads will put in another performance and hopefully bring another 3 points away with us.
Hopefully see you all back down the NFU when we return in the next couple of weeks.

THE OPPOSITION STAPENHILL They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007/2008 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL in the 2012/2013 season. The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
