CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to todays game against Cadbury Athletic FC and may I take this opportunity to give a warm welcome to all the players, officials and supporters of Cadbury Athletic FC and hope we all enjoy a good game. As we stand here watching todays game let us all be reminded of the football clubs that are still not allowed spectators and again be reminded that we all want to maintain our enjoyment of being able to watch the games here at the NFU and therefore I urge you all to ensure that all the appropriate guidelines and rules are followed during these times as, like me, I am sure that you wouldn’t want the enjoyment we now experience to stop? So please ensure that we all follow the guidelines and rules when visiting the ground and long may we protect as best we can the future enjoyment of watching football. Last weeks exit from the FA Vase was disappointing but I would like to thank all of the supporters that made the trip over to Stoke to support the team. The club continues to move forward with plans to acquire the ground and I will be updating in the coming weeks on our progress but as news happens, please follow our social media channels and website for the latest updates and may I extend a huge thanks to the work that Ryan Morris, our Marketing and Comms Manager, behind the scenes to keep you all updated on it, not just football matters but non football matters to, so thanks Ryan keep up the good work. I would also like to thank Andy Gray and his team for the relentless commitment to moving the playing side forward and one which I hope we start to see again on the field. As someone who has been involved off the field now for over 15 years, I know the time and effort the whole “off the field” team put in to moving this club forward and that often goes un-recognised as we only look at the 90 minutes that we watch, but the amount of hours put in to get us to the point for players to play a game should never be under-estimated and my appreciation goes to everyone involved off the field to making games possible, whether they be junior, youth or Senior games and this is the strength of any organisation and when the on the field works alongside the off the field – guess what we start to move forward as a club. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope we all enjoy a good game. Regards Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police. vs Cadbury Athletic FC | Saturday 17th October 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.co.uk

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello all. Today we welcome Cadbury to the NFU. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to them. Since my last notes we have once again showed some inconsistency. A 4-3 win at home to Coventry Copsewood was followed by a disappointing 3-1 defeat away to Hulton in the FA Vase. These games have been peppered with individual and team errors which have crept into our performances. This midweek game against GNP Sports was called off due to a couple of covid cases amongst their squad. This break gave us an opportunity to train and assess our overall achievements so far. We have reset our ethics and standards and i expect a performance from the boys today. I hope you all enjoy. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY - CADBURY ATHLETIC Cadbury Athletic Football Club was founded in 1994 by Chairman John Peckham and Committee member Roger Hughes and gained entry to the Midland Combination Division Three. Their first signing was Gerry Boyle as Secretary. The club was affiliated with the Cadbury's factory based in Bournville, using the company's logo as its badge and later adopting the Cadbury's corporate colours of purple and white as the playing strip. They played at the Cadbury Recreation Ground in Bournville, within in the grounds of the chocolate factory. The ground at Bournville Lane was recognized as one of the best playing surfaces in the area, even claiming links with the 'hallowed turf of the old Wembley. The pitch was laid with the same Northumberland turf that was used for the Wembley pitch prior to its closure in 2000, and one of only 4 grounds in the UK to use it for its playing surface. We finished 9th in our first season in Division Three but were nonetheless promoted to Division Two. After several mid table finishes in Division Two, a 4th place finish in the 2000-01 season again saw them promoted, this time up to Division One. The Reserve side was also going strong. In the 199900 season they won the Birmingham Works Premier League as well as winning the West Bromwich Albion Shield and Prudential Cup. On the back of this success they joined the Midland Combination Division Three where they also gained promotion to Division Two in their first season. After a few years of gradual improvement in Division One, and a Runners Up appearance in the JW Hunt Cup Final, the first team finished the 2004-05 season in 2nd place and secured yet another promotion to the Premier Division. Unfortunately, this brought problems for the club as the Recreation Ground didn't have the Floodlights that were a prerequisite of obtaining promotion to the Premier Division. They were forced to ground share with Pilkington XXX, while plans to erect floodlights at their own ground were drawn up. Life in the Premier Division proved very difficult to start with but, as in previous years, gradual improvements have been made year after year and in the last two seasons they have finished in 12th and 11th place respectively. They also reached the final of the Challenge Cup during these two seasons but were runners up on both occasions, first to Loughborough University and then Castle Vale. In the 2006-07 season they entered the FA Vase for the first time where they beat AFC Wulfrunians on their debut. A year later they made their debut in the FA Cup but lost in a replay to Alvechurch. Another switch in grounds took place during this close season as they moved from Pilkington to Alvechurch. The season started poorly as they slumped to the bottom of the table but a run of form meant that Cadbury climbed to 13th place. The team management is Ollie Hartill as the first team manager, assisted by Kwab Denquah, John JB Hunter, Josh Cook, and Sam Smith. The most recent achievements have seen Cadbury Athletic First Team win the Midland Football Combination Division One title (2013-14) and the FA County Saturday Vase the same season. vs Cadbury Athletic FC | Saturday 17th October 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.co.uk

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE 7th League Game v Desford 3-1 win at home. Bounce back is what we wanted and its what we got. From the 1st whistle we was the better team. Keeping the ball well and moving it around with ease. We created 3 or 4 good chances but somehow failed to put them away, which was very frustrating to go in at half time with the score level. The message at half time was “ More of the same in terms of keeping the ball and creating chances but we need to be better In front of goal. 2nd half begun and we carried on the same as the 1st half creating chances but not scoring. We kept plugging away and the more tired they got the more chances we had and boom Sam beck scores from a cross with a tidy finish 1-0. After making a couple of substitutions we had even more energy up front. Connor Mullan come on for his debut and grabbed a lovely goal with some neat footwork and a guided shot into the bottom corner 2-0. Shortly after that Connor grabbed a 2nd goal 3-0 game set and match. A few chances for both teams in the final stages of the game but nothing clear cut until Desford got a free kick in the final couple of minutes which they converted to grab a consolation goal 3-1 Overall a good win to get the season back on track and keep us in the top 4. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of Two adult teams and Twelve sides in the Junior section. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division One, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club’s junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s play in the Burton Junior Football League and the Tamworth Junior Football Leagues. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 of the Pyramid system playing in the East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The 2017-18 season saw the 1st team finish Seventeenth in the East midland Counties and the Reserves finished in the bottom Two and relegation to Division One. 2018-19 saw the 1st team finish in the bottom half of the East Midlands Counties Football League and The Reserves now called the Knights finish runners up in the Senior League Division One and promoted back to step 7 in the Senior League Premier Division. In the 2019-20 season Ashby first team faced a fresh challenge when they were moved to the Midland Premier League Division one by the FA in a shake up of the NLS, the season as we all know was expunged due to the pandemic. The Reserves league also had all results expunged. As a club we are now looking to but our ground and have since the end of the previous season become a CIC club.
