CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Graham Street prims FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Graham Street Prims FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. First of all can I send the very best of wishes to Stan and Nikki who will be getting married tomorrow and on behalf of everyone at the club we hope you have a great day and a happy future together. Some of you will know “Stan” as a past player and brief spell as a manager at the club and has always been a keen follower to this day. For those of you watching last Saturday, I am sure you will agree that the performance of the team in the first half was great to see and the 2nd goal was one that would be worthy of any showing on SKY TV. A great build up with a cool finish from Harry Stewart and I must say it was probably amongst one of the best team goals I have seen at the ground. The result was another deserved one for the players and lets hope that they start to build some momentum now. Next Saturday sees us play in the FA VASE against Friar Lane and Epworth and without getting too far ahead of ourselves, I keep reminding people that this competition gives the players and the club a great chance of walking out at Wembley as the Final is 8 games away. However, we must keep our feet on the ground and take each game as it comes but just imagine…………… The reserves kicked off last week under the new management of Robbie and Andy it was pleasing to see them notch up a winning start and the players after the game were in a buoyant mood. The 2nd team job at the club is a very difficult one at any club but we have a great squad of players that will enjoy the challenge that has been set by Robbie and Andy and are all capable of stepping up into the first team too. Bank Holiday Monday sees an away trip to Ingles. This will be an interesting encounter as this will be the first time the 2 sides have faced each other in the EMCFL but it will bring back lots of rivalry memories when the 2 teams battled against each other in the NLL. Kick off is 3pm at the Dovecote (home of Shepshed Dynamo FC) There is a renewed atmosphere around the club at the moment and that is testament to all the hard work that volunteers have put in both on and off the field. The work that the Senior Management Team “on” the field have done over the Summer has put the wheels back firmly on the track with additional players whilst retaining most of last years. The “off” the field management team have put their part of the wheels back on track with new initiatives, financial procedures and reporting and continue to work hard to improve the way the ground looks and the structure of the club has never been stronger and I will be sharing further news on the structure in the coming programmes. I am firm believer that the “club” is better of with a group of like minded people than it ever is with individuals that may often not be either pulling or wanting the same future. It is perfectly ok to take a step back sometimes and from an outsiders perspective, this may be seen as going backwards, but the key is to remain focussed on your core ethics as a club and not waiver when it comes to making difficult decisions but as long as they are always in the interest of the club as a whole then there will never be a question that it was the right decision and the overall effort remains a collective team effort and my thanks go to everyone that has rolled up their sleeves, got involved and made a difference over the last 7 years we have been here and got us through some challenging times along the way. The club always welcomes new people that can add value to what we are doing and if you are someone that can add value then please let me know if you would like to board our new train of optimism as we are ready to leave the station and the destination is “FORWARD”. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good afternoon of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to the NFU, home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. It’s the start of a busy bank holiday weekend of football for us and what will be a further 2 tough games. Both Graham St Primms and Ingles (our opponents for today and Monday respectively) have made good starts to the season and we will need to continue our good form and excellent football to get 2 positive results. If we can come out of this bank holiday weekend unscathed (which we are capable of doing) it will show our intention for this season and put us right up there. Last week saw us beat a well drilled Rainworth side 2-0. Our first half performance was arguably one of the best I have overseen whilst at the club and the second goal was rightly applauded both within the ground and on social media. It really was a goal that oozed quality. For those that didn’t see the goal it was a great team goal which followed on from an exchange of 5-6 high tempo, one touch passing. As with all bank holiday weekends we have many players away. Luckily we have some strength in depth this year so is a good opportunity for others to come in and claim the shirt. There is real competition for places this season and motivation is high. It is also fair to say that the players are looking forward to our upcoming FA Vase game at home against Friar Lane on the 1st September and they are determined to come into that game in good form as a team. Individually they all want to be in the starting 11 for that game. They are under no illusions that 2 wins over this weekend will go a long way in helping them do that! As with all our games, it is our intention to go out with attacking intent and am hoping we can build on the our 2 back-to-back wins get 3 more points and continue to improve. Enjoy the game, keep the faith and please be vocal in your support. Craig Picknell 1st Team Manager FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

UPDATE FROM THE KNIGHTS First of all on behalf of myself and Andy we would like to thank everyone who has sent us both well wishes ahead of the new season, the players who we have so far had the chance to work with and mainly the chairman for giving us both the opportunity for this role.
Me and Andy (Paz) have spoken a lot of over the summer about taking on the Knights side and after we both sat down and spoke to the chairman we felt it was the right time for us to have ago and see what the season brings for us.
The reason we wanted to take the role was so that we can pass on our knowledge of reserve team football onto the lads and hopefully improve the side. We also want to push players into the first team and also give young and youth team players the opportunity for a pathway into senior mens football.
Me and Andy are both competitive people and winners so the aim for this season is to be compete week in and week out and mainly push for winning the league, we know it won't be easy as our first season as manager and assistant but from what we have seen during pre season and our first game of the season we are more than confident that this is a realistic aim.
Going onto last week we were matched up against Lutterworth Town reserves away which is never an easy place to go let alone for your first competitive match as the gaffer but each and everyone of the players listened to what me and Paz wanted from them and took it into the warm up and then into the game. We pressed when we didn't have the ball and when we managed to gain possession we played some great stuff on a very poor pitch. We could have been 3 or 4 up at half time but didn't take our chances however we managed to come away with a very positive 3-0 win which myself, paz and lads were very happy with. Three very well taken goals and of course a clean sheet which during our 3 pre season games in charge we didn't manage.
Id also like to say a thank you to the 3 die hard fans that made the trip over to support us on our first game and also Kev ( the sausage dog). We hope to see a lot more people getting behind us both and of course the lads over the season.
Many Thanks

THE OPPOSITION STAPENHILL They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007/2008 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL in the 2012/2013 season. IN OPPOSITION TODAY Graham Street Prims were originally founded in 1904, being formed from a primitive Methodist Church from which they derived the name “Prims”. Graham Street itself is actually situated off Osmaston Road in the city of Derby and is close to the Baseball Ground, former home of Derby County F.C. until they moved to their new home at Pride Park. Prims were disbanded in 1914 due to the outbreak of the first world war but in the ten year period until that time they boasted several players who went on to play league football, these included the Keetley brothers and Jimmy Bagshaw who eventually went on to play for Nott’s County and England. Prims were reformed in 1953 and achieved many honours, mainly in the Central Alliance, The East Midlands League and the Derbyshire Senior League. The finest years came between 1971 and 1981 when they won no less than fifteen major honours including seven Derbyshire FA Cup wins and eight League titles. In 1991 Prims were again disbanded due to not having a suitable ground of the required league standard but in 1995 were reformed through a merger with Derby Carriage & Wagon FC. Since reforming, they have been semi-finalists in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, beating Matlock Town on the way and losing to Belper Town 2 -0 in the semi final. They gained promotion from the Premier Division of the Central Midlands League to the Supreme Division, finishing fifth in their first season in the higher division. After suffering four years of continual vandalism at the Railway Ground in Longbridge Lane, Derby and having been relegated for not having floodlights, the club was on the verge of folding once more. But a determined committee met with officials from Borrowash Victoria FC at the Asterdale Sports and Social Club in Spondon and owners of the land, The Heritage Pub Company as a result, a pitch and the promise of a lease was offered. Prims committee met with Officials from the Central Midlands League, led by Mr Frank Harwood, they gave the go-ahead to our new home and work soon started on the ground. New post & rail was erected and new pitch drainage was installed. Re-seeding and verti draining of the pitch has also took place as well as a complete conversion of the old “Band Hut” into a dressing room complex and hospitality suite. Installation of a 2 metre high fence around the perimeter of the pitch with floodlights installed and the siting of a Portakabin to provide refreshments for spectators as well as separate toilets also being completed. Raising the money for this operation, which has taken place over a number of years was a mammoth task with fund raising, loans and grants being obtained, this resulted in the club paying out around £90 -100K. In 2008 the Asterdale club closed, this brought about a spate of vandalism, which cost Prims a great deal of time and money which they could ill afford, repairing roof’s replacing glass and removing graffiti etc., eventually new buyers for the sight were found. The new owners, ROSCOM decided they would knock down the old club to build an office block and also promised new facilities for Prims, this is still the aim but an agreement between Roscom and the City Council over the planning application has still to be agreed. The new owner has assured us that they are very keen to keep sport going at the ground and after meeting with them our future looks bright, meanwhile negotiations for a long term lease are ongoing. On the playing side season 2008-09 saw a new league formed for the East Midlands at step six in the FA Pyramid system, teams primarily from the Central Midlands League, Leicester Senior League and the Notts Alliance was formed with Prims among the teams competing as founder members. We were also joined by our near neighbours, Borrowash Victoria, who left the Northern Counties (East) League to join the East Midlands Counties, ensuring two

IN OPPOSITION TODAY excellent local derbys in prospect. Our Reserves were placed in the new Central Midlands Supreme Reserve League with our under 18’s side competing in the Derby City League. Wayne Harvey Toon remains as Club Chairman and Ray Garlick has agreed to sponsor maintenance of the ground for three years, resulting in our ground being known as the RAYGAR ARENA. Since the highly successful seasons of the 70’s and 80’s progress has been somewhat steady, to say the least, this has been mainly due to us competing with other local sides who are in a position to offer incentives to players, where we are clearly in no position to offer any form of payment. This inability to attract players seeking some form of remuneration caused Prims another problem with managers, resulting in us having EIGHT managers over a period of eighteen years. Most of the Managers over this period had played for Prims at some time and like the rest of the Managers, found difficulty recruiting good quality players. In 2009 Prims appointed Mick Rodgers (who had been very successful with Vics), however he too suffered from the same problem as previous Managers and resigned half way through the season. Prims committee were again forced to advertise in the local press and through various local league websites and after interviewing three candidates, Mark Webster was appointed in December 2009 with the task of keeping Prims in the EMCL. Mark had been very successful with Holbrook MW (now Holbrook Sports), another of Prims local rivals, bringing a wealth of experience he set about his task of bringing some stability to the club. He brought with him Mick Bentley (who had been with Prims previously) and was joined by Tony Collins and Mark Harris who brought their own young Chellaston team to form the nucleus of the Reserves. Because of Prims inability to pay players Mark’s aim was to concentrate mainly on youth. In 2011-12 season Ian McAndrew joined Prims from Mickleover Sports as Mark’s assistant. Mark demanded loyalty from everyone at the club including the committee and season 2012-13 saw his efforts bear fruit with the 1st team reaching the final of the league cup and finishing eighth in the league. The reserves reaching the semi-final of the DFA Divisional cup and finishing fifth in their league and the Youth team finishing runners-up in the Derby City under 18 league. The club enjoyed a welcome return to the days of the “Community Spirit” which must go down to the discipline Mark has instilled in his players. He was not been frightened to bring young players into the first team, and brought about a very optimistic future for the club. The 2013-14 season saw a new club structure launched and designed by Tony Collins to bring a more professional look to the committee and throughout the club. With everyone pulling in the right direction, looking to get the dressing room plans sorted the outlook for the club was very bright indeed. In the 2013-14 season Prims competed in the FA Cup for the first time in their history as well as the FA Vase. This season proved fruitful with a good FA Vase run taking to the 3rd round against Rushden & Diamonds and also saw Prims winner in the League Cup Competition. The following season 2014-15 saw Mark Webster and Ian McAndrew leave the club 3 weeks before the start of the season, new managers Allan Thorley and Simon Van De Broucke were appointed. They worked hard to keep Prims in the league where we finished 18th, the following season 2015-16 saw a marked improvement where we finished 11th in the league, despite disappointing Cup runs. The final season that Allan and Simon were managers in 201617 was one of troubled times, commitment from players was low and they struggled to gain points and in the end fulfil fixtures, leaving Prims finishing 19th in the league. However on a positive note Prims Under 18s were league Champions and the League Cup winners. Season 2017-18 sees a new management team of Anton Broughton and Matt McCaul join the club, bringing new ideas and players. We are looking forward to a positive season at Prims.

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The new season sees a new management team at the helm of the club with Glyn Andrews and Craig Picknell joining the club from Friar Lane & Epworth with the aim of achieving promotion to Step 5.
