CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME May I extend a very warm welcome to everyone who has ventured out today and to our visitors, Brocton FC and their Players, Officials and Supporters and hope we have all enjoy a good afternoon of football. I write these notes in full optimism that todays game is actually going ahead and that by some magic the rain has disappeared and given all football fans the opportunity to watch some local football. Additionally, if we are playing today it will be down to the huge effort put in to fork, sand, fix and make good the very saturated areas of the pitch and I know how frustrating the last 6 weeks have been for all concerned. My thanks go to Ian Irving especially for all his hard work in at least giving us the chance to play today and I for ne see the work he puts in on and around the pitches and how soul destroying that can be when more rain falls, so, Santa, hear our message, “we have all been good boys and girls this year so please, please, please just send away the rain and lets us have the gift of football back”. Again I am writing these notes before the Leicester Road game, which was testament to the players and the management team who ran out a deserved 0-1 against the league leaders and again demonstrated that the players are capable of beating anyone. The dispay against Leicester Road was a real team effort right from a superb goalkeeping display from Tom Dyche, to “proper defending” by Macca, to renewed leadership in midfield from Benn, to a sublime lob from Sam Grouse. But the whole team can and should be complemented on their whole performance and the result was deserved. During this year, the club will be sharing its plans for the ground and future developments and further announcements will be made on social media so please keep your eyes peeled for what could be an exciting future for the Club. Good luck to the players today and hope you enjoy the game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police. vs Brocton | Saturday 25th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello all, Today we are visited by Brocton FC. Welcome to all that have travelled here today. The results so far this season have been inconsistent but this is normal in a new set up with a new group of players. The combination of this and the fact that they are learning new ideas, does take time. That we certainly have and we will continue to move the club forward both on and off the field. Myself and my staff are strengthened by the addition of a new Coach. None other than Benn Minshull who has agreed to join us in this new capacity, whilst his recuperation continues. The new Skipper on the field is Tom Rowell. A player who I have worked with for many seasons and one who will lead by example. I hope you enjoy todays game and that your support continues. Thanks to you all. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Brocton FC Club History The present Brocton F.C was founded in 1937 when Arthur Mayer the owner of the Chetwynd Arms pub gave a football to the boys of Brocton and the neighbouring village of Bednall and asked them to form a football team which they did. Matches were played on the pitch alongside the pub and although records before the war were lost they started life playing in the Stafford Youth League. When football resumed after the war in 1946-47 the club joined the Rugeley & District League and were League Champions in the first two seasons. At the start of the 1949-50 a move was made into the Cannock Chase League were we stayed ( other than a 6 year spell in the Lichfield League) for the next 30 years and with the legendry Secretary Charlie Holt as the driving force the club flourished winning 6 League Championships 5 times Runners Up numerous internal and league cups were also won along with the Walsall Challenge Cup twice Lichfield Charity Cup 3 times and the Stafford Pageant Cup 3 times In 1979-80 we moved into the Staffs County League (South) for the next 12 years in which time we were Runners Up in Division 1 twice Runners Up in the Premier Division twice also during this time we won the Premier Division Cup and also the Stafford Pageant Cup again and the Penkridge Charity Cup. A decision was then made to join the Staffordshire Senior League were we remained (under it’s various guises) for the next 12 years to enable us to do this we had to move from our pitch at the Chetwynd Arms to Rowley Park Stadium in Stafford in order to meet League requirements. During this period we won the League Challenge cup in our second season and went on to win the coveted Staffs F.A.Vase twice and also the Leek Charity Cup 2 years running. At the start of the 2002-03 season we moved to Cannock Stadium as this had the benefit of floodlights and this proved vital when we were elected into the Midland Combination Premier Division for the start of 200304 after 1 year Cannock Chase Council decided they no longer wanted us leaving the club in limbo but fortunately we managed to secure an excellent ground share at Heath Hayes this also coincided with us obtaining the 30 year lease on our present ground at Silkmore Lane. After 4 very happy years at Heath Hayes in which time the team established themselves in the league and the committee were working hard on raising the monies for the new ground and spending many hours getting things done we finally move into our new facility at the start of 2008-09. It was the former Staffordshire Police Sports Ground which had not been used for a few years and had become derelict. The team continued to improve and in 2011-12 reached the final of the Walsall Senior Cup losing to the much more experienced Rushall Olympic 3-0 at Bescot Stadium undeterred we returned to the same venue the following season to win The Les James Challenge Cup our first success in the Midland Combination and topped that the next year 2013-14 by winning the League Championship. We moved into the Midland Football League Premier Division (formerly Midland Football Alliance) and really enjoyed our first season but are under no illusions on how hard it will be to get established and stay in the league as the standard is excellent. After 3 seasons in the premier Division unfortunately we were relegated back into Division 1 which is probably stronger now than when we left three years ago. Our old Manager David Berks has reverted to just playing and Sam Norton has taken over assisted by Matt Skinner and Alex Molloy Our first season back in Div 1 was something of a struggle at times we eventually finished 17th with a late surge in form producing the results which saw us pull clear of the relegation zone We have had a further change in Management for the 2018-19 season Kevin Weldon has taken over as Manager with Matt Allman as his Assistant and Tom Scott as Coach. With a very young side we finished a creditable 11th in the League and had good runs in both the FA Vase and JW Hunt Cup. The same Management Team are staying with the addition of David Weldon to the coaching team. vs Brocton | Saturday 25th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE First of all I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for today’s game. The knights have had a couple of weeks without a game in the league due to the poor weather conditions. However the last time out in the league we had a fantastic 3-1 win against County Hall who we had two very good games against last season. The lads showed fantastic character and played some of the best football we’ve played all season and fully deserved the win. Since that game we had the long trip to Cottesmore in the league cup with a few players out due to injury and illness including the gaffer. So I’d like to thank the lads and Paz for their efforts even though we didn’t get the result we wanted. Robbie Avins Ashby Ivanhoe Knights Manager

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division 1, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runnersup on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth vs Brocton | Saturday 25th January 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
