CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to todays game against our visitors Borrowash Victoria FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Borrowash Victoria and hope you enjoy our hospitality. As you will be aware the club has had a change of first team manager since our last game and I wanted to start by expressing my sincere thanks to Craig Picknell for all the hard work, commitment, time and effort he gave this club in the period he was with us. During his time with us, Craig, almost single handily rebuilt a squad of players last season and introduced a lot of young players into Senior football and who, are now, better off for Craig’s involvement at the club. Having worked with Craig he always remained professional and committed and many of the areas that he added value in where never seen so it goes without saying that I respected his contribution to the Club and I hope that we may be able to retain his involvement going forward in a slightly different capacity but thanks Craig from all of the management team and club. The change brings back a familiar face to the club in Andy Gray, who takes charge this time as the first manager. Some of you may know Andy from his time with Ashby Ivanhoe FC at the start of Season 2015-16 when he was part of the Management Team and the club is delighted to have him back with us and we are confident that he and his team will build on the foundations that have been established. During his spell with the club last time, Andy achieved the clubs highest league position in the East Midlands Counties League finishing 3rd, narrowly missing out on Runners Up and challenged for the league all season. Through this position the club qualified for the FA CUP for the first time in which we progressed by beating a STEP 5 and STEP 4 Club before hosting the clubs biggest crowd of over 800 when we played Ilkeston Town. Andy has been involved around the County for several years as both a player and Manager and he joins us with a lot of experience, drive and commitment and we have agreed a clear mandate going forward and one which we are confident he will deliver. I would also like to welcome Andy’s staff to the club for the first time, Pete Dunn and Rich Armstrong and am delighted that Steve Guest has been retained as part of the ongoing Coaching staff at the club. Todays game also welcomes back Marc Sargeant, who you will all know from his time with Ashby Ivanhoe FC and I would like to extend a warm welcome back to Marc, albeit he is now in the opposition dug out. Again, Marc, added a lot of value to the Club, in particular to the development of our younger players when he started with us with the reserves and then progressed to the first team with Craig. Hopefully Marc won’t know too much of our tactics but nice to welcome him back in any case. All that remains is to wish Andy and the players the very best of luck in todays game and hope we walk away with 3 points at the end of it. Enjoy the game Regards Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to you all today. I am delighted to have re-joined AIFC, this time as 1st Team Manager and I look forward to working with all concerned at the club. In my few years away I have always monitored the club's results and performances. I appreciate the work done by previous managers but have seen that on recent times the footballing side of things have not perhaps been up to the standard that the Club, Committee, and it's Supporters deserve. Our immediate aim is to stabilise the playing side of the club and build towards a long term future. Speaking to the Chairman, we have agreed a mandate moving forward, which is one that I’m sure myself and my backroom staff will deliver. On that subject I’d like to announce that I’m joined by Pete Dunn and Rich Armstrong, who I have worked closely with in the past. I'm also delighted that Steve Guest will remain with us from the previous regime. Myself and the rest of the management team are looking forward to bringing better times to the football club. I'd also like to mention the Knight's managers who have made my integration back into the club, almost seamless. I'm refreshed by the level of knowledge that both Rob Avins and Andy Parry possess and the way in which they have the current 2nd string of players performing. I'm also excited to meet with the managers and coaches that are involved with the Junior set up which is already in place. My intention is to tap into these resources and move the club forward with the integration of the young local talent, coupled with a technically able group that we already possess. Finally I hope you enjoy the game today and that you leave, entertained. 3 points would be nice too. Thanks for your continued support. Andy Gray 1st Team Manager FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Borrowash Victoria Borrowash Victoria AFC was founded in 1911. From a modest start the Club enjoyed a challenging future with Two World Wars halting play but on each occasion the Club re-formed once peace returned. Off-field challenges saw the Club disband and re-form on three occasions. Despite all of this the will of the locals to have a football team represent their village remained unchecked. Maybe that is what makes the club motto so relevant 'Palma Non Sine Pulvere' – 'No Victory Without Effort'. The present Club commenced in 1963 playing in the depths of Section E of the Derby Welfare League. It was not until 1968 that the first manager was appointed, Mr Arnold Grace, and he led the team to promotion in his opening season. Arnold had to retire because of ill health but he returned as Chairman in 1975. It was that type of devotion to the Club that frequently marks the history of “The Vics” with several names reappearing as you look through the archives, players who hung up their boots staying on with the Club in another capacity. No doubt it was that spirit that encouraged ex-international Alan Hinton to sign for the Club in 1977, an event that saw the tv cameras at a Vics game for the first and only time and Alan was spotted by the cameras at the end of the game actually taking the nets down. The 1977/78 season provided the Club's first major championship, the East Midlands Regional League Premier Division. However, things looked dicey at the end of the 1980/81 season with a mass of resignations from the committee. As always The Vics pulled through and a face from today made his entrance on to the stage, Ian Anderson turned from playing staff to President (and Sponsor). The most challenging episode in the recent history of the Club also happened under Ian's reign. In 1983 the Club was threatened with expulsion from the league due to settlement of a drain below the pitch making it unplayable. In those circumstances many a Club has folded but The Vics rolled up their sleeves, repaired the pitch for the remainder of the season before moving to their new and current home, The Bowl. To mark the official opening of the changing rooms and floodlights, Brian Clough brought a full strength Nottingham Forest squad to the Bowl. The evening set new records including the highest ever attendance, an estimated two thousand supporters packing the banks. The Vics joined the East Midlands Counties League as founder members for the 2008/09 season. This proved to be the first of many near-misses with promotion with the side finishing second, just three points adrift. 2010/11 was even closer, two points this time and 2011/12 second again but seven points adrift of a very good Heanor Town side. Season 2016/17 saw several significant changes on and off the field. Ian Anderson stood down as Chairman after over 30 year's of service, he does, however, remain on the committee. His successor is Frazer Watson and he has brought some new faces on to the committee. Early in 2018 the Club was shocked to receive the resignation of manager Marko Markelic, who had done a good job for the Club bur he told the Chairman that the Management team were struggling to raise a team. There seemed to be doubts as to whether the Club could carry on but many comments of support were received and the League was asked to give a little time for the Club to sort matters out, which resulted in the postponement of three games. The Club was very grateful for this help. Several people contacted the Club to offer help and this led to Paul Turner, a former Sandiacre Town manager, being appointed as manager. Paul brought Gerry Moran with him and they act as joint-managers. All the existing players were invited to their first training session but, with one exception, they all subsequently left. It thus became a big rebuilding job and the last seventeen games of the season were extremely difficult. The 2018/19 season saw the club part ways with Paul and Gerry and appoint former Ashby Ivanhoe coach, Marc Sargeant. Mark is injecting some youthful talent into the side and we hope to maintain our position in the league that we helped to found.

THE OPPOSITION STAPENHILL They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007/2008 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL in the 2012/2013 season. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY

19 4 8 - 2 01 8

70 YE AR S

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
