DAVID MORRIS
CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME
Good afternoon & welcome to our FA Vase game with Malvern Town. Our visitors today have made a long trip & we welcome their players, officials & supporters & hope they enjoy their visit to Ashby de la Zouch. Well last week’s game was a classic rough, tough game of local football against unbeaten Paget Rangers. We maybe shaded it on points but couldn’t quite find a way to win it, nevertheless it continued our own good start & they were so anxious to get away with their point they left their training kit & equipment behind ! The Knights have also made a positive start & continued that with a good away win at Birstall to sit 4th in their league after 3 games.
We’ve had some helpful rain over the last few days which has helped the pitch no end & our groundsman Adrian Barnes has worked extremely hard on the pitch and around the ground since joining us in the Summer. Ada has partnered us with Leicester City Academy who are advising us on works to be undertaken over the next 12 months and also successfully secured some funding for additional equipment & pitch maintenance which really is tremendous, and will be much needed going forward………….. ( a little teaser there for Rob, Martin, Statto, Dougie & John)
On Sunday we have The Eric Avins Memorial Game, if you attended the game last season you will know it was quite an occasion with a huge crowd. Eric was a great supporter of both Ashby Ivanhoe and our friends at Marlborough Rovers and the game tomorrow is at 2pm when legends of both clubs will amble around for an hour and then relocate to the bar for a lot longer & swap stories & memories. I know that most of my friends have been made through local sport and it’s sometimes good to remember that and
appreciate it and if you can give a bit back to the clubs involved then that’s a great thing too. If you’d like to attend tomorrow we’d love to see you and after the tea time TV game we have popular local singer Warren Stanford playing for us in the marquee.
In a very busy few days, we have another game on Monday and on a Bank Holiday what could be better than a trip to er Bilston ? Joking apart, they have a terrific big ground and a good clubhouse & have taken over at the top so should be another tough game so all away support would be much appreciated.
As always follow up to date news on the socials & best wishes to Andy and the boys this afternoon, come on Ivanhoe !!!
Dave ChairmanIf you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE
Hello everyone.
Once again we'd like to thank you all for your fantastic support last Saturday.
The 0-0 draw against Paget Rangers was a fair result but as I said in my interview after the game, I think we edged it and looked the more likely to take the three points.
The result at least maintained our unbeaten start to the season.
Today sees us take a break from league action and pits us against Malvern Town in the FA Vase. They are a level above ourselves in the league pyramid and have made a decent start to their league campaign too.
We hope to give them a good game and hopefully progress into the next round and beyond.
Enjoy the game and we hope to see your support at Bilston on Bank Holiday Monday.
Regards. Andy Gray.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY
MALVERN TOWN
THE CLUB was established in 1946 as Barnard’s Green Football Club. They joined the Worcester League, where they played until moving up to the Worcestershire Combination in 1955, going on to win the league at the first attempt.
The club also won the Worcestershire Junior Cup and retained the trophy for the next two seasons, before winning it again in 1961–62.
In 1967 the Worcestershire Combination was renamed the Midland Combination. The club won the inaugural Worcestershire Senior Urn in 1973–74, before retaining it for the next two seasons; they also finished as runners-up in the Midland Combination in 1973–74.
In 1979 Malvern transferred to the Premier Division of the West Midlands (Regional) League and although they finished bottom of the division in 1982–83, the club avoided being relegated. However, they were relegated to Division One at the end of the 1991–92 season.
Despite only finishing ninth in Division One in 1993–94, the club were promoted back to the Premier Division. In 2003–04 they won the Premier Division title, earning promotion to the Midland Alliance.
A third-place finish in the Alliance in 2005–06 saw the club promoted to Division One Midlands of the Southern League.
The club finished bottom of Division One Midlands in 2008–09 and were relegated back to the Midland Alliance. Two seasons later they finished bottom of the Midland Alliance and were relegated to the Premier Division of the West Midlands (Regional) League.
We lifted the Worcestershire Senior Urn for a ninth time in 2018–19 and have finished in the top five in each of the last five seasons.
The summer of 2019 saw our association with the West Midlands (Regional) League come to an end as we were moved across to the Hellenic League Division One West.
It was during the first half of the 2019-20 season that Project 2020 finally came to fruition with significant developments made to the club's facilities and infrastructure, including a new state-of-the-art 3G playing surface and new dressing rooms.
An FA Vase tie against Loughborough University in November 2019 signalled the first game at the revamped stadium and with home crowds regularly topping the 200-mark, the team marched to the top of the table until the campaign was declared null-and-void in March 2020 amidst the Covid-19 outbreak.
The 2020-21 season also saw us sitting deservedly at the top of the table when the season was curtailed due to Covid-19. However, in May 2021, it was confirmed that we would be promoted into the Premier Division.
We also enjoyed another exciting adventure in the FA Vase, beating higher level Rothwell Corinthians and Sporting Khalsa along the way before narrowly losing out at Congleton Town in the fourth round.
As we continue to embrace the local community, we look forward to what the future holds in store.

FOUNDATION CHARITY CHALLENGE!
Over the weekend of the 13th/14th August, Anthony Wilson and Courtney Howell set out on a challenge of visiting 100 football clubs in 24 hours.
They started the challenge at Boston Town at 1pm, and travelled over 700 miles, through 7 counties visiting a range of grounds from all levels of the footballing pyramid!
The NFU Sports Ground was on their list of grounds to visit and they arrived to us at an early 1:13am on the Sunday morning!
They did the challenge in aid of raising funds for the Freekicks Foundation which is a Nationwide charity

They managed to complete their challenge in 23 hours, 29 minutes and 17 seconds!
Well done lads from all at Ashby Ivanhoe FC, it’s a great achievement and we are delighted to be able to have provided you with a signed shirt that you can auction off to raise some more funds!

JUNIOR AND YOUTH FOOTBALL UPDATE
Here at Ashby Ivanhoe we have seen big changes I n our Junior and Youth section. On June 1st Mark Scrivener joined us to head up this important division of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. Since then the junior section has grown massively!! We now 25 Junior teams up from 14 this covers ages U7 to U18, giving us over 270 children playing in the new stunning Ashby Ivanhoe Junior Kit. We are looking forward to watching our team paly matches in several local leagues including Burton Junior and Tamworth Junior leagues as well as our U14 & U15 taking part in the regional Midland Junior Premiere league! There will be Junior matches on at the NFU every Saturday from September so why not come down and support the kids!!
Added to this we consistently have over 25 budding young players in our soccer school ( ages 3-6) which is run on a Saturday morning 10-11am under the guidance of Rob Avins and is continuing to grow week on week!! The Club also recently started the Development school which give children ages 7-16 a chance to get involved with a football team if there are no spaces in any other clubs at their age group. This has been a huge success as due to the number of children attending this school we have successfully created 4 brand new teams within the Junior Section and given 39 children the opportunity to play league football this coming session!
As you can see its an exciting time here at Ashby Ivanhoe for Junior and youth football, if you or someone you know has children looking to get into a great club please contact us on via our social media or website below.

IVANHOE VS PAGET RANGERS REPORT
Ashby Ivanhoe 0-0 Paget Rangers
Ashby played out a stalemate with unbeaten Paget Rangers where chances were few and far between.
Both sides came into the game full of confidence, winning 7-0 and 5-2 respectively on Tuesday night.
Ashby had chances to open the scoring in a cagey first half. Joe Neal came closest for the home side when his header forced an acrobatic save from Goalkeeper Tommy Doyle, who turned the shot wide with an outstanding fingertip save.
Not to be outdone by his opposite number, Tommy Dyche in the Ivanhoe goal produced a fantastic near post save from Paget’s Harry Jackson. Holding onto the shot which was hit powerfully and preventing any chance of a rebound.
After the break, Ashby looked the more threatening side, but were unable to force Doyle into any world class saves. Tuesday’s double hat trick hero Sam Grouse came closest when the ball sat up perfectly for him after a corner was not dealt with, however his effort was only to flash past the post.
Paget failed to truly test Dyche in the second half, however they were the more physical side throughout much of the half, stifling Ivanhoe’s attack which lacked the cutting edge of previous matches.
Manager Andy Gray felt that his side lacked the fire that they displayed on Tuesday night, believing that neither side truly did enough to win the game.
KIDS CORNER
CLUB HISTORY
Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch.
The club currently consists of Two adult teams and Twelve sides in the Junior section. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division One, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was reintroduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four.
The club’s junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s play in the Burton Junior Football League and the Tamworth Junior Football Leagues. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season.
In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners.
Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have
also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park.
The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 of the Pyramid system playing in the East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One.
2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5.
The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher

ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground.
The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
The 2017-18 season saw the 1st team finish Seventeenth in the East midland Counties and the Reserves finished in the bottom Two and relegation to Division One.
2018-19 saw the 1st team finish in the bottom half of the East Midlands Counties Football League and The Reserves now called the Knights finish runners up in the Senior League Division One and promoted back to step 7 in the Senior League Premier Division.
In the 2019-20 season Ashby first team faced a fresh challenge when they were moved to the Midland Premier League Division one by the FA in a shake up of the NLS, the season as we all know was expunged due to the pandemic. The

Reserves league also had all results expunged.
As a club we are now looking to but our ground and have since the end of the previous season become a CIC club.
