CHAIRMANS WELCOME Happy New Year to you all and good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Aylestone Park FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Aylestone Park FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. If we are playing today, it will be as a result of days being spent on the pitch this last week, removing water, forking and sanding which is no mean task when it rains every day and my extended thanks goes to Ian Irving who has yet again stepped up to the plate to work hard to get the game on so thanks Ian your work is very much appreciated as I know how many hours you commit each week to the club. As we have turned the year we now see a very busy schedule up to the end of the season with a lot of games still to be played and I hope that the team can maintain their performances going forward and take confidence from the result that’s been coming last Saturday against Holwell Sports. The support for the team was great too so thank you for the travelling supporters who made the long trip but it was worth it I am sure you will agree. The team played exceptionally well again and a great hat-trick by Mitch Woodbine and a first for Nathan Banton, topped up with Angus Blair-Park goal saw us deserved winners. I know that Marc and Craig are woring hard to bring a couple of additional players in and our full support is with them to do this. As I have said many times before, there are 3 key ingredients to maintaining a sustainable and joined up club. 1. Chimney Pots – our support continues to grow and grow and your support helps the players, the atmosphere and to cover our match day costs and as the population continues to grow in Ashby we are reaching more and more new spectators as well as retain the loyal ones. 2. Player catchment and club structure – unlike some clubs that think paying players is the way to succeed we have a completely different approach and we are fortunate that we can pull players from a distance close to the club and that don’t come with their hand out asking for cash and that genuinely want to play for the club and the management team – we also have a clear football pathway structure from the Under 7’s to the 1st team and one which will, over time, get players and coaches playing the “Ashby Way” and this will make for many good years to come as we will have a natural conveyor belt of youth coming through at one club. 3. Commercial support – again we do not rely on egotistical individuals to fund the club (or should I say players) but work hard to develop and grow relationships with our sponsors and we have a lot of national and local business within the town and our reputation for looking after our sponsors is growing – this on its own can make a club as without their sponsorship we would struggle to develop and grow as we have done. I would like to thank all of our supporters for your continued support of the team both home and away. It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you watching the team and I know that the players are very appreciative too as there’s nothing better than having great support encouraging you from the sidelines. A quick mention to Andy Topham and our Under 15’s Barons who play against Allexton New Parks tomorrow in the QTR final of the County CUP, a great achievement and I know the boys will be up for the challenge and good luck to you. I must extend a mention and get well to Charlie Tissington Jnr too who is at home recovering from a knee operation and wish you a speedy recovery and keep off the dancefloor at Manhattans. All that remains is to wish our players well today and hope we all are in for a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to the NFU, home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. Thank you for all those that have made the trip out to support the team.
We have seen an improvement of the teams performances over the past few weeks accumulating in a 5-2 win against Holwell last week. Although the performance wasn’t as good as previous weeks those previous performances meant that the lads fully deserved the win.
I stated recently that we need to reduce the number of goals we are conceding. We have done that. I asked that we compete in games for 90 minutes and not just 45. We have done that also. There is a real enthusiasm and work ethic to this team at this moment which will be invaluable moving forward.
Today we welcome Aylestone Park. They have been in good form of late and are sitting comfortably in the top half of the table. They are a good footballing side who work hard so I look forward to seeing how far we have progressed today.
Enjoy the game, keep the faith and please be vocal in your support.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY AYLESTONE PARK Aylestone Park Senior Section was formed way back in 1980 and at that point it was a natural progression from youth team football where we were very successful at local level. Our early years saw us develop from Sunday morning adult football in the Charnwood League to our first taste of Saturday football courtesy of the Leicester & District League where we were very successful, gaining many league honours and various County FA Cup successes. Without doubt this was a very vibrant time for the club and on the back of our previous achievements we were eventually accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League, a major step up in not only playing standards but also level of facilities. Floodlights, spectator stand and post and rail pitch were standard requirements back then in the late 80’s and without doubt Leicestershire football was at a very good level, with the likes of Shepshed Charterhouse, Quorn, Coalville Town, Barwell, Friar Lane Old Boys to name but a few, all making for some very attractive fixtures. Although ‘The Park’ thoroughly enjoyed their many years of Senior League membership, it became clear that the established clubs were looking to make progress and pursue pastures new. This ‘progression’ wasn’t lost on us and following our recent re-location to our new facilities in 2010 we finally enjoyed our best season to date in 2011-12, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League which provides football at Step 6 on the National Football Pyramid System. Our debut season was very satisfactory, finishing in 7th position and playing some excellent football against quality opposition. However, the following 2 seasons proved very difficult which resulted in consecutive bottom 2 positions giving the club the unenviable prospect of relegation. Fortunately we survived that threat and bounced back in style. Richard Hill along with a very experienced management team took control of First team matters having moved over from Ellistown & Ibstock where they not only achieved 2 top 3 finishes in the league but also put the club firmly on the map with some outstanding Vase and FA Cup exploits, most notably accounting for Hereford Utd. Without doubt ‘The Park’ have made massive strides forward following the change in management. Last season saw a top 5 finish and most notably the winning of the League Cup where we beat a very good South Normanton side 2-1. This transformation has lifted everyone’s spirits and hopefully this will help us to achieve our next ‘goal’…level 5 football. On a broader scale, Aylestone Park FC provides football in the local community for not only adult football but also a wide range of age group sections i.e. mini-soccer, junior, youth and ladies football plus an inclusive section for youngsters with learning difficulties. It is this vision of how we see the whole footballing picture and what is required in our community that has enabled us to be assisted by various grant aid in addition to our own dedicated fundraising efforts that have gave us an outstanding, first-class facility.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY

F
Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la O 4 UN 19 Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the DED 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch.
The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The new season sees a new management team at the helm of the club with Glyn Andrews and Craig Picknell joining the club from Friar Lane & Epworth with the aim of achieving promotion to Step 5.
