CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to todays match against our visitors Sherwood Colliery and we welcome the to the NFU Sports Ground for the first time. May I extend a warm welcome to their players, officials and supporters and hope you enjoy our hospitality. The team have started to show their capabilities now and finding the net to match their performances which is pleasing to see for everyone and will have given the players real confidence that they can now score as well as play good football. The Knights continued in good form last Saturday too with a good result which keeps them at the top end of the table and the moral around the club is great to see. One pleasing aspect is our training nights at the cub for all of our Junior teams and if you ever get chance on a Wednesday or Thursday or Friday evening to pop down to the ground you will see just how much we have progressed as a club and organised the teams are during their respective sessions and nothing pleases me more than seeing our young players out in the fresh air playing sport, interacting with friends and enjoying themselves. Off the field sees more improvements to the clubhouse with renovations to the male and female toilets along with some new furniture to enhance the environment for all. Some forthcoming events are planned at the Club and first up is a Family Halloween Party on Friday 27th October, so be sure to spread the word or even bring the family along. There will be a Childrens Christmas Party too along with a New Years Eve party so keep your eyes peeled for those dates. This coming Tuesday sees us host the year 5/6 girls schools tournament again with 17 schools attending a 5 a side competition. This is another example of the great work the club does outside of matchdays to engage with the wider community and schools which in turn brings a direct benefit to the football club and shows all visiting parents what facilities we now have available as a club. One sad note was the passing of Stuart Andrews recently and we will be observing a minutes silence before the game in respect. Stuart was one of the club’s sponsors and kept a keen eye on our progress. All that remains is to wish the players luck today and hope we all enjoy a good game of football. Regards Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to the NFU, home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. We come into today’s game on the back of a run of 4 games unbeaten. Along the way we have scored 19 goals conceding 5. What a great 3 weeks it has been for the team. This league is considerably stronger than last season with existing teams strengthening considerably and those coming into the league having strong squads. With that in mind it is important that we have a strong squad ourselves and, as it stands, this is something we are blessed with. The challenge is how we rotate the squad and utilise the different players characteristics for different games. I emphasised to the players over the last 2 weeks the importance of the squad and this was proven in spectacular fashion during last Saturdays game. We found ourselves unfortunate to be 2-0 down against Kimberley at half time but was fortunate to have a strong bench full of players that could all count themselves unfortunate to have not started. Our strength in depth and additional fitness proved the decisive factor as the three subs came on and played a massive part in going from 3-0 down to draw the game 3-3. This sort of character, believe and fight shows how we have progressed this year. Last season that sort of comeback wouldn’t have happened. It also fills me with confidence for the rest of the season. Today we welcome Sherwood Collery. They have made an impressive start to the season and currently sit unbeaten in second place in the league. Today will be a tough, tough game. That said, I don’t want to be showing them too much respect. We have plenty about us with goals coming from all over the pitch. They too will be coming here today knowing they are in for a tough game. 2 teams with plenty of confidence. I am sure it will be a fantastic game! As always, if we play to our best I have no doubt the result will be a positive one. As with all our games, it is our intention to go out with attacking intent. Enjoy the game, keep the faith and please be vocal in your support. Craig Picknell 1st Team Manager

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Sherwood Colliery
Sherwood Colliery FC was reformed in 2008 with a view to giving Mansfield Woodhouse a Saturday Adult team which the town had lacked for many years. With predominantly young players the club entered the Midland Amateur Alliance (MAA) in 2008-09. The following season saw the introduction of a reserve team, both teams playing in the MAA.
In 2010-11 success was achieved with the First Team winning the MAA 1st Division Championship while the reserves gained promotion from Division 2.
In 2012-13 an application to join the Central Midlands League was successful. The club entered a First team in the North Division and a Reserve team in the Reserve Premier League and with a very young squad of players managed the adjustment to the higher level of football reasonably well with hopes higher for better things as the players gained more experience. A third (A) team was added in 2013-14 with an even younger squad of players who played in the MAA to gain experience of adult football. 2013-14 saw the first team achieve a creditable 10th place in the North division while the Reserves completed a Reserve Premier and Reserve League Cup double. The ‘A’ team finished in 4th place in the MAA Division 2. Despite this success the club suffered a hammer blow in the close season prior to the 2014-15 season with the management teams leaving the club only 2 weeks before the start of the season. The club managed to somehow put managers and players in place and fulfil the fixtures and despite both teams finishing their seasons second bottom of the CML North and Reserve Premier respectively this was considered a success!
The 2015-16 season saw an influx of new committee members and new First and Reserve team managers were appointed in early June. Wayne Savage joined from Bilsthorpe FC and remains in the post. Wayne has overseen three seasons and secured promotion via the CML South runners-up position in 2017-18. Wayne is ably supported by ex-Clipstone manager Lee Tryner and by his long-time assistant Mick Kerry. The reserve team is managed by Ian Cotton and will compete in the CML Reserve South Division.

THE OPPOSITION STAPENHILL They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007/2008 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL in the 2012/2013 season. The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
