CHAIRMANS WELCOME Welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for the forthcoming fixtures against Ayelstone Park and Clifton All Whites and may I extend a warm welcome to both of the teams players, officials and travelling supporters and hope that you enjoy our hospitality and the game. We have combined the matchday programme due to the closeness of the games and getting them printed in time. As I mentioned in my last notes the games are really coming thick and fast and we now have our final game scheduled for the 16th May which is a great achievement given the number of games we have all had to fit in due to the poor weather this season. As you maybe aware the FA are undergoing some re-structuring of leagues over this Summer which may mean movement for some clubs into different leagues to accommodate a more geographical structure. This announcement has not yet been made to any clubs but there is lots of speculation around the non league game as to where they seem to think teams will stay or go to. As we find out more we will keep you posted but for now we hope to remain in the EMCFL into next season. The club also plays host to their annual FA CUP DAY TOURNAMENT at the ground on Saturday 19th May and please feel free to pop along and watch the competition unfold throughout the day along with staying and watching the Chelsea v Man Utd Final at teatime. More details will follow on the various platforms. This Summer also sees the World Cup kick off and I have been in talks with our Marketing and Communications Manager about whether we can create ASHBYS ONLY FAMILY FAN ZONE at the Club to welcome families down to watch the games and experience the safe and friendly atmosphere at the club so keep your eyes posted on the various platforms for announcements. All that remains is to wish the team well in the next 2 games and hope you all enjoy a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY AYLESTONE PARK Aylestone Park Senior Section was formed way back in 1980 and at that point it was a natural progression from youth team football where we were very successful at local level. Our early years saw us develop from Sunday morning adult football in the Charnwood League to our first taste of Saturday football courtesy of the Leicester & District League where we were very successful, gaining many league honours and various County FA Cup successes. Without doubt this was a very vibrant time for the club and on the back of our previous achievements we were eventually accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League, a major step up in not only playing standards but also level of facilities. Floodlights, spectator stand and post and rail pitch were standard requirements back then in the late 80’s and without doubt Leicestershire football was at a very good level, with the likes of Shepshed Charterhouse, Quorn, Coalville Town, Barwell, Friar Lane Old Boys to name but a few, all making for some very attractive fixtures. Although ‘The Park’ thoroughly enjoyed their many years of Senior League membership, it became clear that the established clubs were looking to make progress and pursue pastures new. This ‘progression’ wasn’t lost on us and following our recent re-location to our new facilities in 2010 we finally enjoyed our best season to date in 2011-12, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League which provides football at Step 6 on the National Football Pyramid System. Our debut season was very satisfactory, finishing in 7th position and playing some excellent football against quality opposition. However, the following 2 seasons proved very difficult which resulted in consecutive bottom 2 positions giving the club the unenviable prospect of relegation. Fortunately we survived that threat and bounced back in style. Richard Hill along with a very experienced management team took control of First team matters having moved over from Ellistown & Ibstock where they not only achieved 2 top 3 finishes in the league but also put the club firmly on the map with some outstanding Vase and FA Cup exploits, most notably accounting for Hereford Utd. Without doubt ‘The Park’ have made massive strides forward following the change in management. Last season saw a top 5 finish and most notably the winning of the League Cup where we beat a very good South Normanton side 2-1. This transformation has lifted everyone’s spirits and hopefully this will help us to achieve our next ‘goal’…level 5 football. On a broader scale, Aylestone Park FC provides football in the local community for not only adult football but also a wide range of age group sections i.e. mini-soccer, junior, youth and ladies football plus an inclusive section for youngsters with learning difficulties. It is this vision of how we see the whole footballing picture and what is required in our community that has enabled us to be assisted by various grant aid in addition to our own dedicated fundraising efforts that have gave us an outstanding, first-class facility.

ASHBY IVANHOE VS WEST BRIDGFORD EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE THURSDAY 3RD MAY 2018 - 7:45PM
IN OPPOSITION TODAY CLIFTON ALL WHITES Clifton All Whites FC is probably amongst the most recognisable Amateur football clubs in the County due to some of it’s more famous past youth team players going on to play at the higher levels of football in this country, and for the infamous ‘All White’ nickname which caused controversy amongst some quarters in the mid-nineties leading to the ‘official’ scrapping of that tag. Players such as Gary Birtles, Jermaine Pennent, Darren Huckerby, Jermaine Jenas, Michael Johnson to name a few have all come through the clubs youth structure over the past years. Clifton FC have also been successful on the pitch, formerly playing in the Midland’s League and Notts Alliance the club also reached the Third Round of the FA Vase in 1975/76. Winning the Senior League Cup in 2006, a year later the Reserves won their first NSL honour gaining the First Division Championship under the guidance of James Turner & Chris Driffill and in 2010 the same management team took the clubs first team to deliver the Senior Division title for the first time in the clubs history. On the back of this success and the development of the Green Lane facility the club decided to make the step up to the CML and hopes the recent progression continues. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY
19 4 8 - 2 01 8
70 YE AR S
The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The new season sees a new management team at the helm of the club with Glyn Andrews and Craig Picknell joining the club from Friar Lane & Epworth with the aim of achieving promotion to Step 5.
