CHAIRMANS WELCOME Welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for the forthcoming fixtures against West Bridgford and Stapenhill and may I extend a warm welcome to both of the teams players, officials and travelling supporters and hope that you enjoy our hospitality and the game. We have combined the matchday programme due to the closeness of the games and getting them printed in time. As I mentioned in my last notes the games are really coming thick and fast and we now have our final game scheduled for the 16th May which is a great achievement given the number of games we have all had to fit in due to the poor weather this season. As you maybe aware the FA are undergoing some re-structuring of leagues over this Summer which may mean movement for some clubs into different leagues to accommodate a more geographical structure. This announcement has not yet been made to any clubs but there is lots of speculation around the non league game as to where they seem to think teams will stay or go to. As we find out more we will keep you posted but for now we hope to remain in the EMCFL into next season. The club also plays host to their annual FA CUP DAY TOURNAMENT at the ground on Saturday 19th May and please feel free to pop along and watch the competition unfold throughout the day along with staying and watching the Chelsea v Man Utd Final at teatime. More details will follow on the various platforms. This Summer also sees the World Cup kick off and I have been in talks with our Marketing and Communications Manager about whether we can create ASHBYS ONLY FAMILY FAN ZONE at the Club to welcome families down to watch the games and experience the safe and friendly atmosphere at the club so keep your eyes posted on the various platforms for announcements. All that remains is to wish the team well in the next 2 games and hope you all enjoy a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY WEST BRIDGFORD West Bridgford Colts Football Club was formed in 1990 with the simple ethos of providing local youngsters with a game of football. From the start our strategy was to provide football for all, not just the more able players. We were one of the first junior clubs in the area to regularly field multiple teams at the same age group. Starting off with a couple of boys’ teams the club grew steadily, resulting in us running 18 teams by 2000. In 1994 we signed a lease for the Coronation Ground in West Bridgford. This provided us with a base with a clubhouse, as well as 3 x 11-a-side pitches and a number of different sized small sided pitches, for our 5, 7 and 9 a side teams. In 1996 we started the girls section, which has grown steadily every year, resulting in the Ladies team, West Bridgford Ladies, being formed in 2006. In 2008 the club signed a 25 year lease for our current home, Regatta Way. The Coronation Ground having been purchased by the council to build a new school. The club took the wise decision to install floodlights at the new ground with an eye of the future of the club as we always hoped to run a successful men’s team. 2010 saw the formation of West Bridgford Colts Vets. We formed the senior men’s 1st team, West Bridgford Football Club, in 2011 to provide an exit route for our players. We achieved promotion from Division 2 of the Precision Notts. Senior League, finishing runners-up, as well as reaching the final of the Nottinghamshire Intermediate Cup, losing narrowly after extra time. In the season 2013-14, we again finished runners up in the 1st Division, to be promoted into the Senior league of the NSL and last season, 2014-15 we were runners up in the senior league, and finalists in the NSL cup, losing out to Wollaton on both occasions. In the 2015-2016 season we finished 3rd in the NSL premier league which gave the team promotion, and won the Nott’s FA intermediate cup. During 2016, the club installed hard standing around 2 edges of our pitch, a 100 seater spectator stand and enclosing the pitch with fencing as we planned for the future development of the club. The total spend was something just over £50,000. This along with our team’s efforts on the field ensured we achieved promotion into the EMCL. The team won the EMCL in the 2016-17 season but elected not to take promotion into the Midlands League. We are a Charter Standard Community Club which this season comprises of over 90 teams with 1300 players and are the biggest football Club in the country in terms of number of teams.

ASHBY IVANHOE VS ARNOLD TOWN EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 12TH MAY 2018 - 3:00PM

IN OPPOSITION TODAY STAPENHILL

Stapenhill FC were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons.

They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971–72) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986–87 and 1988–89. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002.

Later that year Stapenhill FC joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007–08 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium, the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League.

More recently as proud members of the East Midlands Counties Football League Premier Division Stapenhill FC continues to prosper under the guidance of newly appointed Chairman Ian Gough and his dedicated team of players and officials.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY

19 4 8 - 2 01 8

70 YE AR S

The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The new season sees a new management team at the helm of the club with Glyn Andrews and Craig Picknell joining the club from Friar Lane & Epworth with the aim of achieving promotion to Step 5.
