CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good evening and welcome to tonight’s MFL game against our visitors Lichfield City FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Lichfield City FC, who visit the NFU for the first time. Unfortunately, last Saturday saw us exit out of the FA Vase to a very good Sandbach United side and credit where due they were simply the better team. After the game I spoke at length with their officials and they stated that they are blessed with their location as they benefit from a lot of Pro Academy players that are released. The goalkeeper is due back to play for Crewe this weekend and many of the players have played at 2 or 3 steps higher and without doubt they are one of the better teams we have seen here for some years with a lot of good individual players. We wish them well in the next round and we have already been invited to their ground for a pre-season as they couldn’t speak highly enough of our club and the set up and how they were looked after, so my thanks go to all of the club volunteers on the day and to everyone that supported the team. It goes without recognition sometimes that we hear many teams from the Juniors up comment on what great facilities we provide and how people feel looked after when they visit us. This is down to the dedication and commitment of volunteers at the club and they should all be very proud of what they have created and should give themselves a huge pat on the back for getting us to the point of being a well-respected, well presented and well ran football club. We often get some moans and groans and can easily forget that overall we provide and operate a very good club and this should remain our focus going forward and whilst we appreciate feedback, good or bad, we should not dwell on the moaners and keep faith in the supporters of our wonderful club. Tonight’s game will be a test for the players as Lichfield City have started well, but that said, so have we and the lads should take a lot of confidence into the game and again, Andy and his team are doing a great job in bringing back a real team spirit amongst the players at the club. Another pleasing aspect of the club was last Saturdays Knights game v Asfordby, where Andy and Robbie were not afraid to introduce up and coming young players into Senior football and was areal credit to them by introducing 2 sixteen-year-old players, Owen Gibbons and Ryan Dowling. This is the pathway that we are creating and whilst the result didn’t go the Knights way, the players and managers should be proud that they are following the path we are now creating as a club. Tonight’s Man of the Match will be chosen by Mark Brattle of Football Fan UK and Mark joins the club as one of our newest sponsors and we thank him and his business for their very kind support. All that remains is to wish the players the best of luck and hope you all enjoy a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman vs Lichfield City | Tuesday 17th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Welcome all.
Saturday's FA Vase game saw us defeated 0-3 by Sandbach. They were an impressive outfit and deserved their victory. They were a very 'rounded' team who executed their game plan well. The way they moved the ball and provided options was how football should be played.
As a group we are working towards playing the same brand of football and I strongly believe that in time we'll match and improve on that type of performance.
The players remain positive despite this defeat as they understand that the process does take time. They remain keen to improve and to work hard, which we will certainly do.
Before we get back to the training ground, we tonight face another tough challenge. Lichfield are one of the 'fancied' sides in this league and this will give us a further idea as to where we need to be to attain future success.
We look forward to the game and hope you enjoy your night's football.
Regards Andy Gray

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Lichfield City History The Club began life in the 1970’s as Beacon Rangers before changing its name to Beacon Park. In June 2006 a decision was made by the Committee to change the club’s name to Lichfield City FC in order to raise its profile in the local community.
The effects of this name change have been massive, as within 6 years the Club has increased the number of sides from 8 to 25! We have teams from under 6 all the way through to open age (including a Ladies team playing in the Staffs County Womens League) and currently have more than 380 playing members. We also achieved our Charter Standard award within a year and in 2009 achieved the status of Charter Standard Community Club which is the pinnacle award for Charter Standard Clubs. In 2010 Lichfield City FC was recognised by Staffordshire FA as the best Community Club in Staffordshire.
In 2008 we moved our open age team from the Burton & District League into the Midland Football Combination so that we could provide our junior members with an exit route into a better standard of football. That season we finished 5th but were fortunate enough to gain promotion to the second division after a league restructure. In 2009 / 2010 we finished 3rd but missed out on back to back promotions as only the top 2 went up. For the 2010 / 2011 season we moved our reserve team into the Midland Football Combination to benefit from the improved professionalism, standard and playing facilities that the league provide. That season our first team finished 4th in the 2nd division and again gained promotion due to a league restructure. Season 2011/2012 was our best yet with the reserves finishing runners up in the reserve division 2 and our first team a creditable 4th in the first division. After successfully gaining planning permission for floodlights, we had the platform in place for premier division football and following the Mid Comb AGM, both our teams were promoted to their respective premier leagues for season 2012/2013.
We are currently changing our main pitch from grass to 3G so that we can accommodate the 350 kids we have within the football club and hopefully attract more players to the our ever growing Junior section. There are a number of clubs in Staffordshire that have converted to 3G and their club has prospered from the increased revenue such a surface attracts, not just on the pitch but also the increased footfall through the club house. The 3G pitch takes us on the next Journey for LCFC and hopefully we will move up the football pyramid over the next few seasons. vs Lichfield City | Tuesday 17th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE Firstly I would like to wish Andy and the lads all the best for tonight’s game. The knights unfortunately lost 2-0 on Saturday against Asfordby. The result didn’t do the performance justice. The lads played really well and like the majority of the season we created chances but couldn’t find the net. Even though we didn’t get the result that we wanted there were plenty of positives to take from the game. We had a very young side and two 16 year olds playing centre half. The lads really didn’t deserve to lose the game and with 9 players unavailable it was a good opportunity for some of the fringe players to get minutes. The knights are next in action on Saturday at home so it would be good to get down and support the lads. Robbie Avins Ashby Ivanhoe Knights Manager

70 YE AR S
The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division 1, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runnersup on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still vs Lichfield City | Tuesday 17th September 2019 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up.
