CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good evening and welcome to tonight’s game against our visitors Kimberley Miners Welfare FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Kimberley Miners Welfare FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. For those of you that were watching our last home game v Selston you would have seen another encouraging performance from the team and shows real progress being made and we cannot fault the players effort during this game. The management team continue to establish a settle side albeit at times a challenge for them due to player availability but as I have always said, if you can field a largely consistent team for the season, any team will be challenging for higher places as players become more confident and used to playing in a settled side. Therefore my message to the players is to keep up the continued performances, ensure you remain focussed on the fixtures coming up and make yourself available for selection which in turn will make the management teams job easier when picking a consistent performing side that will turn into results. On Friday 2nd March the club hosts a Photo Evening as part of its 70th year anniversary celebrations and we are aiming to get ALL Players, Coaches, Volunteers, Spectators, past and Present to the event that starts at 4.30pm. If you wold like to book a slot (1 minute is all it takes) then please let me know or simply turn up on the evening. Once all of the photos have been taken the photography company will work their magic and create one big photo of us which should see over 250 people on the photo. Please join us and be part of this special photo to celebrate how far the club has come in 70 years. As you came into the ground tonight you may have seen work already being started on our new outdoor catering unit which is set to be open towards the end of this Season and in preparation for next. This will offer spectators a convenient outdoor space to grab a snack or drink during matchdays and also an extension to the artificially grassed patio area which will se new furniture arrive in the coming weeks. There are many projects planned over the coming weeks and all led by John Emerson and Mark Pepper with their usual gang of labourers, Dave Morris, Ryan Morris, Dave Buckley and my thanks to all of them for yet again stepping up when needed to continue to improve the ground as they have done since day 1. Another date for your diary is SATURDAY 28th APRIL which will see the Seniors Annual Awards Night and we have a Special Event planned this as part of the 70th Year and Spectators are invited to join us so please let me know if you are interested in coming along it would be great for you to be part of the evening with the players too. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good evening of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club was formed in 1926, one year after the opening of the Miners Welfare. Early years was spent playing at the Mill Field, approx 1⁄2 mile North of Digby Street. In 1932 KMWFC moved to the new recreation ground, Digby Street, situated adjacent to Digby Colliery and its cricket ground. Initially, Digby Street was solely a playing field with teams changing in Tommy Bird’s (pronounced Tommy Bod’s, in the local dialect) front room. It was a lengthy walk, for players and officials to Digby Street, because Tommy lived in a house supplied for workers, on site, at the Giltbrook Leather Works. In the late 1950s, changing facilities moved, to the Miners Welfare Bowling Alley underneath the building, which meant an even longer walk for players and officials! KMWFC have played at Digby Street for 81 years but, it hasn’t been continuous. The club played at the Wolsey Sports Ground for 1 season, 1974/75 (situated were Sainsbury’s Car Park now is, in Kimberley Town Centre), because the construction of the new A610 Eastwood & Kimberley Bypass took away part of the ground and made it unusable. 1982 was a key year in the history of the club as the present chairman Neil Johnson took on the role of chairman from his father. It wasn’t until the 1995/6 season that changing facilities were provided on the ground. A £7,500 grant from the National Lottery, and an equivalent generous donation from Chairman Neil Johnson, enabled the club to buy, transport and erect, the unwanted changing rooms from Calverton Cricket Club. This was around the time of the clubs most successful period on the pitch under the leadership of Paul Horry Kimberley won all 4 trophies available to them. Paul Horry left and was replaced on a caretaker basis by Steve Hobster. Don Munn took charge before the appointment of George Hulley. The joint management of Alf Stacey & Steve Towle took charge in the early 2000s. The pair resigned a few years later when Kimberley then turned back to the successful George Hulley who remained in charge until 2014 standing down following the clubs best season in a decade, finishing runners up in the Notts Senior League and gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League, the highest level the football club have ever played at. In 2014 KMW appointed Paul Rawden and Dino Labbate as the clubs new first team management. In the summer of 2015 the club made a number of changes off the pitch with Brian Franks and Malc Burton as well as the appointment of a New Secretary and Development Officer. In September 2015 Paul Rawden resigned his position and was quickly replaced by ex Ashby and Stapenhill Manager Tony Hemmings. Despite a positive start results turned and club parted company with Hemmings. Club Captain Martin Lench was appointed as Manager alongside the long serving Andy Miller until the end of the season. The duo retained the clubs EMCL Status. In June 2016 Welfare announced the appointment of Ian Deakin as joint manager together with Martin Lench. The season was a success with two cup quarter finals and an 8th place finish securing FA Cup Football for the first time in the clubs history. Deakin stood down at the end of the season and the club moved to appoint the experienced team of Andy Alls, Luke Humphries and John Humphries to lead the club into the new season.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY
8
F
Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la O 4 UN 19 Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the DED 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch.
The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club also has a large number of junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/2011 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and would play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season. Last season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The new season sees a new management team at the helm of the club with Glyn Andrews and Craig Picknell joining the club from Friar Lane & Epworth with the aim of achieving promotion to Step 5.
