CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good evening and welcome to the Christmas and New Year matches against our visitors Radford FC and Holbrook Sports FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Radford FC and Holbrook Sports FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. These will be my last notes of 2016 and as such I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the players, coaches, Managers, supporters, volunteers and sponsors for the memories that we have created together over the course of 2016. There are several that I can remember but the most memorable and rewarding for everyone involved at the club was the lead up to the FA Cup tie against Ilkeston FC at The NFU. We were blessed with the opportunity of taking the FA Cup around the town to our many sponsors and then back to the club where players of all ages got the opportunity to see the famous trophy and have their pictures taken. The club received fantastic exposure too with the broadcast live on Central News and the goodwill and buzz around the town was something that no amount of money in the Premier League could have bought as we somehow seemed to galvanise the whole town to be focussed on little old Ashby Ivanhoe FC for a few days which is a real credit to everyone that has and is involved with the club and just reward for their efforts over many years and certainly since moving to The NFU. The actual matchday itself wasn’t about the result, albeit we did think we had a good chance on our day, but more about whether we could accommodate the expected crowd and boy did we do a fantastic good in attracting a crowd of over 800 spectators. This is a huge increase on our average attendance but the help we received on that day was amazing and we parked, fed, watered and looked after each and every one of the spectators that can now look back and say that they were here to watch Ashby Ivanhoe FC in their first FA Cup run. The emails I received following that day was really heart warming and lots of praise to the whole experience that we created and this would not have been possible without the huge help of many volunteers on the day, for which many never even got to watch the game but we pulled it off and the real pleasing thing was is that we now know as a club what type of interest we can create and how we can accommodate a big crowd should the opportunity be presented to us again. I would like to open out an invitation to all spectators to go to our facebook page and put in your most memorable experience of 2016 and share it with everyone. All that remains is to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and let’s hope that Santa brings us a win tonight and we can all go home with a festive smile on our face. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Managers Talk Good evening and welcome to NFU Sports Ground for the Christmas and New Year league games against Radford and Holbrook Sports. We would like to welcome all those connected with Radford and Holbrook Sports and hope you have a safe journey home. We are now 7 games into our tenure as managers here at Ashby. We have had a decent start, winning 4 and drawing 3. Despite being undefeated so far, we still see that there are improvements that need to be made and things for us to work on as a squad. We have been pleased with the work ethic and commitment that we've had from the players and know that with a little bit more time working together we'll come on even more as a group. Radford will be a good test of where we are at as a squad. Over the last few league games, they have competed well against a few teams in the top 5 and will bring a strong side to Ashby. We hope that if we play to our potential, we can be a match for any side in this division and tonight is no different. The Christmas and New Year period is always busy and we hope we can continue to pick up points that have seen us climb a couple of places already, despite initially having a 7 point gap to the team in front of us. Enjoy tonight's game and have a great Christmas. Steve Titterton & Lee Attenborough First Team Management

EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER 2016 _______________________________________________________________________________________ ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Thomas Oliver, Jake Conkay, George Wesley, Sam Johnson, Tom Rowell, Ryan Pearce, Luke Thorogood, Daniel Edwards, Royce Turville, Louis Starkey, Josh Riley SUBSTITUTES USED: Lee Attenborough, Jack Ryder, Chris Saunders GOALS SCORED: Josh Riley (11), Royce Turville (42), Louis Starkey (57), Chris Saunders (72) ATTENDANCE: 65 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Ashby Ivanhoe comfortably saw off the challenge of visitors Borrowash Victoria to record a 4-0 victory and extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches. First half goals from Josh Riley and Royce Turville and further strikes from Louis Starkey and substitute Chris Saunders sealed victory. Ashby made a quick start to the match and almost went in front inside the opening minute when Luke Thorogood set up Riley to have a shot at goal from around 25 yards but the ball curled away from goal and just wide of the far post. Riley was more fortunate ten minutes later though when he opened the scoring from a corner. The ball was played to the near post and with the Borrowash defence attempting to clear the ball it fell to Riley and from close range he fired a shot into the top corner. Ashby had a chance to double their lead on 16 minutes when Jake Conkay unleashed a shot at goal from range which stung the palms of the keeper. Borrowash had their best chance of the match on the half hour mark when a low shot across goal from outside the area beat the dive of Ashby keeper Tom Oliver before striking the foot of the post and a player following up couldn’t connect with the ball before slipping on a tricky pitch. Ashby doubled their advantage three minutes before half time when Thorogood passed the ball through the defence for an unmarked Turville and with just the keeper to beat his shot found the bottom corner to give Ashby a two goal cushion at the break. The second half saw Ashby continue to created the better chances and on 54 minutes a cross into the area from Riley found Louis Starkey inside the area but his effort was just narrowly wide of the post but three minutes later and he did find the target when a ball to the edge of the area was blocked by a defender and the loose ball fell at the striker’s feet and his first time effort found the net for 3-0. Ashby increased their lead to 4-0 in the 72nd minute when a ball forward found substitute Chris Saunders behind the defence and after advancing towards goal he struck a low shot across goal which found the net just inside the far post. Despite remaining on the front foot there were no further goals in the final twenty minutes with the match ending in a 4-0 victory and Ashby will be hoping to continue their recent good run of form over Christmas and into the New Year and push on into the top half of the table.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY RADFORD The club was founded in 1964 as Manlove & Alliots FC. The club played in the Nottinghamshire Sunday League. Manlove & Alliots were an Engineering firm situated in Radford. After the firm transferred to Scotland in 1970/71, the club carried on under the name of Radford Olympic FC. In 1977 Radford Olympic became the first amateur side in Britain to be allowed to wear advertising on their shirts and the BBC Television cameras came along to Melbourne Park and filmed one of our matches and interviewed officials for the evening programme "Nationwide". In 1978 the club formed a ground development committee and decided to seek out a piece of land preferably in the Radford area for development of our own ground. Radford Olympic transferred to Saturday Football and made progress up the leagues and in 1982/83 finished Champions of the East Midlands Regional League. In 1983/84, they won the Central Midlands League Senior Cup. In 1987 Radford Olympic were renamed Radford FC. At the end of 2002/03 Radford were promoted to the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands League and in their first season in the top flight finished 11th. After holding their own during seasons 2003/04 & 2004/05 in the top division of the Central Midlands League, the club delivered silverware in season 2005/06 under the guidance of Julian Garmston and assistant Pete Kelley, winning the CML Phoenix Trophies Floodlight Cup and equally impressive was the equal fifth place finish in the CML Supreme Division. New floodlighting and 1st phase ground improvements were actioned with Notts County providing a team to officially turn on the lights in early 2006. During season 2005/06 a seated stand was completed. Radford FC joined the East Midlands Counties League in 2008 and finished 14th in their first season. The club qualified to play in the FA Cup for the first time in 2009/10 but went out 0-1 in the Extra Preliminary Round to Rainworth MW. The club achieved a finishing position of third in 2014/15 under manager Glenn Russell, after putting together an unbeaten run of 19 league games. Radford improved on their third spot by becoming EMCL runners up in 2015/16.

ASHBY IVANHOE VS GREENWOOD MEADOWS EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 14TH JANUARY - 3:00PM
IN OPPOSITION TODAY HOLRBOOK SPORTS Formed in 1931 the club uses the former facilities of the Holbrook Miners Welfare as it headquarters, the previous tenants, Holbrook Miners Welfare F.C. disbanded at the end of the 1995/96 season after many years of playing in the various local leagues. On forming the club a decision was made by the committee to join a league that could offer the players the highest standard of football in the area and were accepted into the Central Midlands League. In the 1999/00 season the Brookies showed great determination by going on to win the Premiership Championship. During the season the members of the club erected a stand to ensure that a promotion spot to the CMFL Supreme division could be secured. The teams first season in the CMFL Supreme division saw the team finish a respectable 11th and twice during the season the crowds at Shaw Lane topped the three figure barrier, for the visits of Heanor Town and Matlock Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup. Over the next 3 seasons the first team and reserves established themselves in their respective divisions, the reserves winning the league cup beating a strong Shirebrook side with a late penalty. In the season 2007/08 the floodlit cup saw the club beat Southwell on penalties to be crowned champions. The good news continued when the club were granted promotion to the new East Midlands Counties League. The clubs first season at Step 6 in the EMCL saw the team have a fantastic season finishing 3rd but were in contention for silverware right down to the last game of the season. The club also made the league cup final and were beaten 1-0 by Borrowash Vics. At the start of the 2010/11 season, saw Holbrook Sports most notable season. The Brookies finish 6th in the league and completed the second consecutive FA Cup victory against Northern Premier League neighbours Belper Town, but also reaching the last 16 of the FA Vase before eventually losing out to runners up Coalville Town cruelly after extra time. A nine game expedition which included last minute goals, replays, jubilance, tears and eventually broken hearts. The next two seasons saw the Brookies reach the last 32 and 64 of the FA Vase. Also the Reserve side won the League Cup for a second time in its history with many young players making the step up to first team football. The Brookies also won the Belper Nursing Charity Cup for the first time in 14 years something they have achieved 3 times in the last 5 years. Currently, behind the scenes, the club is still moving forward and concentrating on major ground improvements, with funding and planning permission approved to build a new ÂŁ250,000 clubhouse and changing room facility behind the Shaw Lane End goal. Initial timescales looking like being completed for the end of 2016/17 season.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
