CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s FA VASE game against our opponents Pelsall Villa FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, supporters and officials of Pelsall Villa FC and hope that you enjoy your experience at the NFU Sports Ground. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who was part of the absolutely amazing experience last weekend in the run up to the FA CUP game and the matchday itself and if you are anything like me I am still buzzing from what we all created and witnessed. The walk about town was amazing with the FA CUP and to share that with the Sponsors and everyone involved in the club was so gratifying and as we wandered up and down Market Street I am unsure as to how we didn’t cause an accident with the number of cars that were doing double takes as they drove past. Having been into Market Street this week the shop owners are still talking about it and how the whole town was buzzing and still is and we, at little Ashby Ivanhoe FC did that and I think we have earned ourselves a huge amount of goodwill from the business and local community as a result. When we returned back to the ground the reception was fantastic and was wonderful to see so many junior players and parents wanting to have their picture taken with the famous trophy. These are memories that our junior players and everyone involved will hold onto and I hope it will inspire them even more. On to the TV interview which I have to say was very nerve racking but the skipper, Jonno and myself pulled it off for the club and it was a pleasure to be part of and broadcast our club to the whole of the East and West Midlands and I have calculated that if we were to pay for that type of TV exposure it would have been in the region of £25,000. My thanks go to Phil Brewster from ITV Central for his coverage and time he spent with us on the day. Then onto matchday and yes we lost 6-0 but the whole club won on the day as we had the 3rd highest crowd in the Country for teams playing in the FA CUP that day and we welcomed old faces, past players, new faces and a buoyant set of Ilkeston FC fans who helped create an amazing atmosphere around the ground and it was a pleasure to see over 700 spectators around the ground and proves my point that the town has the population to support the club and I know that each and everyone of you would have had a fantastic experience and I hope some of you have returned back to watch today and for many more games this season. My thanks to PC Mark Arjoo and the Leicestershire Police for their attendance at the game that went as smooth as anything and to all the volunteers, Ian, Jane, Graham, Kirsty, Lewis, Pep, Bucko, Mick, Charlie, Dave, Ryan, Bruce, Mick, Martin, Neil, Matthew, Stan, Nicky, Paris, Chris, Hayley, Julie, John, Jordan, Bella, Julie, Andy, Tag, the ball boys from the U14’s Lords, the players from the U10’s for the immense amount of support and work you all did on the day. A special thanks to Pejman from Zamanis who supplied the club with the pulled pork and assisted with the bbq with his chef John and assisted by Pep, Tag and Kirsty. Extended thanks to Dean O’Shea who has been awesome with his support over the 2 days with filming around the town, great pictures and of course videoing the match itself and spending hours putting it onto a DVD which is now for sale in the clubhouse for just £20 and it’s a fantastic souvenir for anyone to buy. Thank you to Dan Whitworth too from Ashby Tile and Bathrooms for sponsoring the matchball and to donating the winning raffle money back to the club. The whole day was well organised and ran like clock work and as you will read inside this programme, one of the Ilkeston FC supporters said that he was so impressed with our hospitality, welcome and organisation that we would put most STEP 3 clubs to shame which says we are doing something right and all deserve a huge amount of credit. Of course the club has benefitted financially too with the run and hosting 2 games which has seen over 1000 spectators watch the extra prelim and 1st qualifier at the ground which is amazing. The feedback has been heart warming and I am now receiving more request than ever from people who want to sponsor the club which proves my point number 2 and that is that we have the Commercial support to grow and sustain our club at any level we choose. In the coming weeks Matthew Lester will be putting together a commemerative magazine of the FA CUP run and highlights so be sure to get your copy when it is available. Well now the FA CUP is a memory lets see if the taste has motivated the players to have a good run in the FA VASE and you never know Wembley may still be in our grasp. Thank you again for your support and hope you all enjoy the game Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Pelsall Villa. The FA Vase provides clubs at our level with their most realistic opportunity of stepping out on the hallowed Wembley turf. Three seasons ago St Andrew’s who we all know well got to the semi-final stage only to narrowly bow out to Northern League outfit West Auckland Town 1-2 on aggregate. With the possibility of 9 rounds in order to reach the Final, the Vase can become a bit of an adventure as it evolves from the early regional stages into a competition that can see you playing anywhere in the four corners of the country with overnight stops and all that comes with that! Personally, I have never been past the last 16 but having played with and managed lads who have gone all the way and in some cases scored in the final at Wembley, there should be a fierce motivation and desire in everyone at the Club to do well in this competition. Our alternative road to Wembley was well and truly closed last weekend as we were defeated heavily by a very technically gifted Ilkeston side. The old adage goals change games certainly applied to this game. I felt we were slightly edging the opening skirmishes although Ilkeston looked lively going forward. We missed a couple of half chances and although their first goal on 17 minutes was a set-back we competed well. Shortly before half time the Ilkeston keeper made a great save and as often happens in football they went down the other end and scored. Both goals could have been prevented if we had defended properly. The hammer blow came a minute into the second half with their deflected third and the rest is better forgotten. We need to learn from the experience. If on the football side we didn’t do ourselves justice, behind the scenes everyone who helped out did a remarkable job in making the day a great occasion off the pitch. Credit to everyone involved in raising the profile of the club immeasurably. Additionally the support the lads received from everyone who attended the game was greatly appreciated. Today’s tie pits us against a team from the Midland League, Division One and we expect a tough encounter. Let’s “hope” we can build on the positive aspects of the opening games of the season and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. ILKESTON FC

THE EMIRATES FA CUP 1ST QUALIFYING ROUND SATURDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2016 _______________________________________________________________________________________ ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Luke Hemingway, Chris Saunders, Evan Cawley, Chris Nettel, Tom Rowell, Sam Johnson, Patrick Rowell, Luke Thorogood, Danny Quinn, Royce Turville, Josh Riley SUBSTITUTES USED: Nick Sewell, Jack Ryder, Chris Waldrum ATTENDANCE: 693 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Ashby Ivanhoe bowed out of this season’s Emirates FA Cup at the 1st Qualifying Round stage as Evo-Stick Northern Premier Division side Ilkeston FC scored six unanswered goals. The town was gripped by FA Cup fever following wins over higher ranked Quorn and Loughborough Dynamo in the previous two rounds and on the Friday before the game the FA Cup trophy itself made its way to the town where club officials paraded the trophy around the various sponsors of the club after which a party atmosphere at the NFU Sports Ground saw players and spectators getting the chance to have a photo taken with the most famous trophy in world football while Central News broadcast their sports bulletin live from the ground along with interviews with club chairman Stuart Bonser and captain Sam Johnson. The party atmosphere continued on the Saturday where a record 693 people turned out despite wet and windy conditions to witness Ashby’s biggest ever match in the club’s 68 year history. The attendance was the fourth largest recorded in the FA Cup that day beaten only by the matches involving former league club Hereford FC, former conference club Salisbury and Hitchin Town. The match itself saw Ashby begin quite brightly and they had a couple of opportunities in the opening ten minutes with chances for Evan Cawley and Luke Thorogood failing to trouble Ross Durrant in the Ilkeston goal. Ilkeston had a chance of their own with seven minutes on the clock when they were awarded a free kick just outside the area and the shot from Mark Shelton was over the bar without troubling Ashby keeper Luke Hemingway. The first goal of the match came on 18 minutes when a long ball down field from keeper Durrant sat up nicely for Anthony Dwyer and he struck the ball on the half volley beyond Hemingway to put Ilkeston in front. Ashby then had a couple of chances just after the half hour mark when firstly a free kick from the right hand side was played into the area by Luke Thorogood with a resulting header going wide and then minutes later Ashby fans were on their feet when they went close to levelling the scores. Danny Quinn received a long ball before beating a couple of defenders only to see his shot saved at the near post by Durrant. A minute later though and Ilkeston doubled their lead when a ball into the area found Dexter Atkinson and with Hemingway saving the initial effort the rebound was slotted into the empty net with defender Sam Johnson unable to get across in time. 12

LATEST MATCH ACTION At the start of the second half Ashby made a double substitution as they looked for a way back into the match but just two minutes in they fell three goals behind when a long range effort from Shelton took a slight deflection and the ball found the bottom corner. Ashby had a great chance to pull a goal back on 50 minutes when a through ball found substitute Nick Sewell behind the defence but his shot cleared the bar and at the other end there was a chance for a fourth goal with a powerful effort well saved by Hemingway who turned the ball around the post. Just beyond the hour mark and Ashby again came close to reducing the deficit when Thorogood advanced with the ball down the right and into the area before sending a low cross to Sewell and his first time effort produced a fine save from Durrant who turned the ball behind at the near post. Ilkeston then added a fourth goal as the match entered the final twenty minutes when a fine passing move saw the ball sit up nicely on the edge of the area for Luis Rose to send a shot goalwards which found the bottom corner. The scoreline was quickly increased to 5-0 just a couple of minutes later when Rose saw his effort pushed away by Hemingway but Ilkeston substitute Ben Morris was on hand to finish from close range. The final goal of the match came in the first minute of stoppage time when a ball into the area was long to the back post and after the ball was stopped from going out of play it was played back into the area where Shelton struck a powerful shot which found the net off the underside of the bar. Despite being beaten by a six goal margin Ashby performed much better than the scoreline would suggest with Ashby manager Miles Warriner summing up the game in just six words: “It was a step too far.

THE FA CUP TROPHY VISIT

“Just a quick note to congratulate all at AIFC for putting on a great show in the FA Cup at the weekend. As a parent of the Ilkeston goalkeeper, we are well used to visiting grounds at Step 3 and above but I have to say that the organisation and hospitality at your place put many clubs from higher up the pyramid to shame. You should be very proud indeed of what you are achieving both on and off the field and we wish you all the very best for the future. As Chairman of a Step 7 club I fully understand how much work goes on behind the scenes to make sure events like Saturday are successful so please pass our thanks onto all involved” – Dick Durrant (Ilkeston FC Spectator) ------------------“Will you thank all your staff and volunteers for making Saturday's match day experience a total pleasure. The bus back home was buzzing, your welcome and hospitality was spot on. Hope our fans helped towards making Saturday a good pay day for your up and coming club. All the best for the future.” Tony & Billy Booth (Travel Secretaries – Ilkeston FC) ------------------“I hope that this email finds you well, just wanted to send this email on behalf of Wigan Athletic to thank you for the hospitality and courtesies you afforded to our scout David Bagley on Saturday. It is very much appreciated and David was keen to stress about the level of professionalism that your club displayed. I wish you every success for the season” – David Bagley / Rich Hughes (Wigan Athletic) ------------------“You should all be very, very proud. @AshbyIvanhoe_FC are a credit to Non-Lge football, and why we love it so much.” – Paul Skillington (via Twitter) vs Pelsall Villa | Saturday 10th September 2016 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

IN OPPOSITION TODAY PELSALL VILLA Records show the football at Pelsall was played as long ago as 1898, making the Club one of the oldest amateur football clubs in the country. Unfortunately two World Wars caused a temporary halt to proceedings with the Club being reformed in 1961, heralding the beginning of Pelsall Villa Football Club as it is known today. The summer of 1991 saw the development of the Club continue with the installation of floodlights, a crowd of over 2,000 people saw Aston villa provide the opposition as they were “switched on” in November 1991; further development of the ground saw a concrete hard-standing laid all around the perimeter of the pitch fencing and a 500-seater stand erected at The Bush end of the ground. Unfortunately the new century was not kind to the Club, with the latter part of the opening decade seeing the Club struggle both on and off the field. Only the combined intervention of Mark Bentley and Shaun Mason in 2011 saving the Club from possible bankruptcy and ensuring a future for this historic Club. The current season has seen four teams be introduced to play the Midland Junior Premier League and our U15 ladies in the Central Warwickshire Girls Football League, adding to our current first team, U18 Midland Floodlit League team, U16, U15, U14, U10, U9 and U8 teams; the season has also seen the introduction of our “Skill Acquisition Programme” for children under the ages of six and seven. For the current season the Club have secured the services of former professional footballer Stephen Cooke as first team manager. Stephen comes with a proven pedigree and reputation within the game, having accumulated seventy four England caps at every level from U15 to U20, and an impressive professional playing career, including: 1997-2000 - Manchester United, 2000-2005 - Aston Villa and 2005-2007 - Bournemouth These are exciting times for both the Club and the Pelsall area in general, with the Club currently in discussions to develop the facilities at the Bush Ground and hoping re-establish itself both on and off the field.

This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
