These will be my last notes ahead of Christmas and I just wanted to start by thanking all of our Spectators for your loyal and continued support of all of the teams who play at the ground, it is much appreciated and I know the players would echo that too. Be sure to come along and show your support on Boxing Day for the 3pm kick off against Kimberley Miners Welfare FC and feel free to bring the family for an afternoon of real entertainment and a bit of fresh air rather than sat in front of the tv watching the seventh repeat of a classic film. My festive thanks also go to the off the field volunteers that have put in another 6 months of hard work to get the ground and facilities to where they are now and a special thanks to Ian Irving who has worked tirelessly on and around the ground along with Graham Turner who has also joined our volunteer group helping out around the ground with ongoing maintenance. In the kitchen we have been joined by Kirsty and I know the players look forward to their food after the games. The ongoing efforts of Dave Morris, Mark Pepper, Darren Wearmouth, David Buckley, Mick Buckley, Matthew Lester, Charlie Tissington Jnr, Martin Smith and Neil Johnson are here for all to see and may I wish you all a Joyous festive break. With the season only half way through it is likely that we could finish the year still on top of the league and this is testament to the hard work of the management team, Miles Warriner, Andy Gray and Jose along with Marie who has been fixing players since early August. The management team are committed to moving us forward on the field and so far they leading the way with their efforts but I know they won’t take my credit until the end of the season which is credit to their professionalism and desire to succeed. The players have stepped up to the mark too and showed us so far that we not only individually good players we have a great squad and team spirit amongst the lads. The club will be applying for promotion to Step 5 and the MFL which needs to be in by 31st December and this will be a real benchmark for the combined efforts of everyone involved at the club and will demonstrate how far we have come if we achieve the aim at the end of the season for which still has a long way to go. The efforts of the reserve team, Under 18’s, Junior team players and their respective coaches continue to amaze me in terms of how much we have grown in a few seasons and I wish you all a joyous time over Christmas. Over the last few weeks we have be joined by Andy Topham who becomes our new Football Development Manager for the age groups of Under 7’s to Under 16’s. His main role is to provide support to our Junior Development Coaches and assist in the ongoing development of players at the club at a Junior level. We wish Andy well with his role. Some of you may not have heard but one of our Junior Development Coaches, Jack Fargher, suffered a heart attack on Saturday 5th December and was taken to Glenfield hospital where he has been recovering and we send our get well wishes to Jack and hope that you make a speedy recovery. All that remains is to wish you all a very Merry Christmas with your families and friends and look forward to seeing you cheer the team on again on Boxing Day. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Radcliffe Olympic. These notes are being cobbled together before Tuesday’s League Cup tie at Blaby so hopefully the game was on and we go into today’s fixture in the hat for the next round. With only one fixture in 23 days since our win at Loughborough we have had chance to dust ourselves down and recharge the batteries. Although players get frustrated when they have no game the timing of our unexpected break couldn’t have come at a better with quite a few injuries and illnesses it has given a few chance to recover albeit they need to rediscover their match fitness. The real bonus is the fact that those teams around us have faltered somewhat and we find ourselves (as of Tuesday morning) with a ten point gap and others two or three games further down track. Ten seems to be the number as we are ten points better off than at this stage last season, we have scored ten more goals and conceded ten less. The significance of Royce’s 88th minute winner in our last league game against Stapenhill can only be judged when we put our feet up in May but in my opinion it will prove a defining moment. It was a tough game in which the players applied themselves admirably. Stapenhill always looked threatening without really stretching Hodgey, a succession of corners midway through the second half providing their main opportunities. What was encouraging was the lads who came off the bench made a real positive impact and drove us on as we got stronger as the game opened up. As we get bodies back and enter the business end of the season it is vital that the players understand it is about 16 players on a match day who all contribute to deliver the required performance. The attitude and application has continued to rise which is all credit to the players. Once again a little more composure in front of goal particularly late on could have seen us win by a much healthier margin but as an ex-defender a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the league was the most pleasing aspect of the performance. That blistering hot day back in August when we opened the season against today’s opponents seems a distant memory but we fully expect another close game hopefully with the same conclusion. Looking at the squad that day there are only two names that aren’t still fighting the cause which helps when trying to establish some consistency. It’s time to push on and build on those clean sheets giving us the foundation to provide an entertaining display with the desired outcome. Without repeating myself again, to date results have been better than performances which will only take us so far but not ultimately to where we want to be. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team

MATCH ACTION VS STAPENHILL ASHBY IVANHOE 1-0 STAPENHILL EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2015

Ashby Ivanhoe increased their lead at the top of the table to 12 points following a narrow 1-0 victory over local rivals Stapenhill. The match played at times in heavy rain was far from a classic with limited chances troubling both keepers and as the match looked to be heading for a goalless stalemate Royce Turville got onto the end of a through ball in the 88th minute before rolling the ball beyond the keeper. It was always going to be a tough match for Ashby as the visitors were on a fine run of form but the home side made the better start to the match without creating any significant chances until a low shot forced the visiting keeper into a save on 20 minutes as he turned the ball behind. Ashby had a great chance to open the scoring just beyond the half hour mark when midfielder James Purslow had an effort at goal but he failed to hit the target when aiming his shot for the bottom corner and with no further chances the teams went in at the break goalless. The start of the second half saw another great chance for Ashby to open the scoring when from inside the area to the left of goal Luke Thorogood sent a shot across goal towards the far post which went narrowly the wrong wide. Midway through the second half and Stapenhill had a spell of pressure where they forced three corners in quick succession and they had a chance to take the lead but a shot was saved close to the line. As the match ticked towards the 90 it looked like this fixture would end goalless like the corresponding fixture last season but with two minutes remaining the ball was played forward and Royce Turville got onto the end of it and with just the keeper to beat he rolled the ball home to give Ashby a deserved victory and following both second and third placed clubs dropping points it left Ashby 12 points clear at the top. IN OPPOSITION TODAY RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC Radcliffe Olympic FC was founded in 1876, making it one of the oldest football clubs in Nottinghamshire, a forerunner for other clubs. During the early period the standard of players at the club was extremely high. One player who was to go on to play international football was Harry Butler Daft who played for the club in the early 1890's. Although long term history is hard to find when looking for club honours Olympic enjoyed early success as a club. In the 1900/01 season Olympic were the Notts Alliance Champions. The next period that we found Olympic success was the early 1930's. In the 1929/30 season the club won the Notts Alliance Divisional 2 Cup. The 1931/32 season saw the club win both the Notts Alliance Division Two and the South Notts League. The 1940's brought more silverware when in 1946/47 Olympic won both the Notts Realm League Division One and the Notts Realm League Division One Cup. In the 1947/48 season the Notts Realm League Division One Cup was retained. Olympic next had success in the mid to late 1960's. In a six year period between the 1965/66 and 1970/71 seasons Olympic won three Midlands Amateur Alliance League titles, the Central Alliance Premier Division, the East Midlands Regional League Division One and the Midlands Amateur Alliance Senior Cup in the 1967/88 season. Throughout the 1990's Radcliffe Olympic hit a purple patch winning the Notts Alliance Division One in 1990/91 and the Nottingham & District Spartan League Division One in 1991/92. As well as these two league Championships Olympic had cup success winning the Nottingham & District Spartan League Cup in 1990/91, the Midland Amateur Alliance Intermediate Cup 1996/97 and were runners up in the Notts FA Intermediate Cup in 1992/93 and in the Notts Alliance Intermediate Cup in 1996/97. As the Club entered its third century the success continued. In the 2001/02 season they won the Notts Alliance Division Three Championship and the Notts Intermediate Cup. In 2002/03 the First Team won the Notts Alliance Senior Division and the Notts Alliance Senior Cup. In the summer of 2003 Radcliffe Olympic amalgamated with local Club ASC Dayncourt to create one of the biggest clubs in Nottinghamshire with it retaining the famous Radcliffe Olympic name. The club created four sections the Seniors, Intermediates, Juniors and Ladies to provided equal opportunities for everyone to play football. The success continued in the 2003/04 season when the First Team were crowed Champions of the Central Midland League Premier Division. This was mirrored by the Reserve Team who won the Central Midlands League Reserve Division One. The 2004/05 season saw the First Team play in the Central Midlands League Supreme Division and the 2006/07 season saw the First Team make their debut in the FA Vase. The 2008/09 saw the First Team crowned Champions of the Central Midlands League Supreme Division.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY The 2009/10 season saw the First Team play in the East Midlands Counties Football League Premier Division. The 2010/11 season was a historic moment as the First Team made their debut in the FA Cup and played seven ties in five rounds before eventually being knocked out in the Third Round Qualifier. The 2011/12 season saw the First Team rebuild under Kevin Waddley, Wayne Miles and Steve Morris reaching the East Midlands Counties League Cup Final. The 2013/14 season saw the Seniors First Team make it into the East Midlands Counties League Cup Semi Final. This season the management have been busy bringing in new players to strengthen the squad as they look to improve on last season’s finish. The future of Radcliffe Olympic FC is looking bright. The club is at its strongest position in probably its entire history on and off the pitch.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
