CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors West Bridgford FC to the NFU Sports ground for the first time and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of West Bridgford FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. Where do I start my notes and how can I follow the events of last weekend which seemingly had it all in our first appearance and WIN in the FA CUP. There are many people that say you shouldn’t get too carried away with things as you can take your eye off the ball but I say live for the moment and enjoy the feeling that these types of occasions give you and take them forward with you to drive you to wanting more days like them. Firstly, well done to the players that showed their real potential after coming back into the game time and time again to clinch the result and move us into the next round against Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday 20th August. Unfortunately, I was not at the game but from the reports I was receiving it felt like I was and could feel the atmosphere being created around the ground when the 4th goal went in to seal the win as the Shed End went mad I heard. The win was witnessed by our BIGGEST crowd to date with over 325 spectators watching the game and I am sure each and everyone of you had a memorable experience to take away and I would like to thank you all for your support and acting as our 12th man at times and I know that your presence around the ground would have motivated the players to victory as much as their will to win as a crowd makes a huge difference to players motivation and ultimate performance. The Bar and Catering was tested to the limit as the sun shone and the game kicked off and it was great to see the new patio area almost full with smiling faces on the pictures that I saw on social media. Since I joined the club as Chairman I have always been clear that Ashby has the 3 key ingredients to make a good and sustainable football club and last weekend proved that. We have the chimney pots (and growing) to come through the turnstile and support a football team that is doing well, we have great commercial support with many new businesses joining us along with our existing sponsors staying with us and we have the player catchment to develop HOME grown talent (even our Manager lives just up the road) and this is why I am so proud to be part of this journey with the football club. As a club we reached another milestone before last weekends amazing day by registering teams at every age group for the first time as we now have teams representing the club from Under 7’s to the 1st Team and we have a structured player development programme to support the way we want our teams to play for Ashby Ivanhoe FC and the future looks bright for us all. The team has a tough season ahead of them this year with a minimum of 46 games to play and that is why your support and encouragement home and away will help them in each game they play so be sure to spread the word and lets see what next April brings us all at Ashby Ivahnoe FC. All that remains is to wish our players well today and hope we all are in for a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairmam Ps – May I take this opportunity to wish a belated Happy 50th Birthday to Mark Pepper who has been instrumental in developing the ground you see today. vs West Bridgford | Saturday 13th August 2016 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents West Bridgford. Well our maiden voyage into the FA Cup ended positively although we made hard work of what should have been a more straightforward journey. Having watched Quorn against Barwell in midweek I was quietly confident that we had the wear with all to win the game. However, they signed five players between Tuesday night and Saturday which strengthened their cause. We should have capitalised on a great start with a fine goal from Luke but sloppy defending saw us trailing at the interval. Their first goal was a result of individuals not taking responsibility on a set piece which needs addressing immediately. The penalty was harsh to say the least but from the Referee’s angle maybe just about acceptable, we had become petulant in certain areas as Quorn grew into the game and I think the Referee was looking to give something against us. Again we started the second half on the front foot, equalised and looked on top only to be pegged back by another poor goal from a defensive perspective. Credit to the players as they found another gear to plunder 2 goals in just over a minute to eventually win what was an exciting cup tie. The bottom line is we gave Quorn 3 goals but had to work hard to score ours a situation that cannot continue if we are to progress and succeed. On behalf of all the players and backroom I would like to thank everyone who came down last Saturday and provided tremendous support which believe me was a big contributory factor in the players bouncing back after going behind twice. With games coming thick and fast we will have played our first league game away at Borrowash prior to today’s game and fingers crossed hopefully we will have given a good account of ourselves. With respect to today’s game, our visitors are new to the League and will be keen to stamp their mark early on in the campaign so we expect a tough challenge. It important we make our home a fortress, last season we dropped 11 points here, 1 draw and 3 defeats, which if you look at the final table tells its own story. Let’s “hope” we can build on the efforts of the last few weeks and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. We are still a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

THE EMIRATES FA CUP EXTRA PRELIMINARY ROUND SATURDAY 6TH AUGUST 2016 ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Chris Hodge, Chris Saunders, Evan Cawley, James Purslow, Tom Rowell, Sam Johnson, Patrick Rowell, Luke Thorogood, Danny Quinn, Nick Sewell, Elliott Bott SUBSTITUTES USED: Kerr Horn, Dan Stevenson, Sam Kirk GOALS: Luke Thorogood (9), Danny Quinn (49), Sam Johnson (62), James Purslow (65) ATTENDANCE: 328 Ashby Ivanhoe made their Emirates FA Cup debut in superb style by winning a seven goal thriller against Midland Football League side Quorn AFC in front of a record crowd at the NFU Sports Ground. Ashby took an early lead through Luke Thorogood before Quorn quickly levelled. The visitors then went in at the break ahead via the penalty spot. The second half saw Ashby level shortly after the restart through Danny Quinn only for Quorn to edge in front again. Ashby then scored twice in quick succession just after the hour mark through Sam Johnson and James Purslow to edge through to the next round. The match started fairly evenly before Ashby opened the scoring with their first chance of the match on nine minutes when they won possession inside the Quorn half and the ball fell kindly to Thorogood who struck a fine shot from 25 yards towards the bottom corner which beat the keepers dive before finding the net. The lead was short lived though and within 90 seconds the visitors were level. It came from a corner which came after the ball had fallen to a player inside the area only to see his shot well turned over the bar by keeper Chris Hodge but the resulting corner saw a free header which found the net off the inside of the post. The next twenty minutes saw chances limited as Quorn started to put more pressure on the Ivanhoe backline but the defence stood firm and it was Ashby who had the opportunity to retake the lead when the ball was passed out wide to the right before being crossed into the area only to see a header go wide of the near post. The final action of the first half came on 39 minutes and it saw the visitor’s edge in front for the first time via the penalty spot. The spot kick was awarded after the Quorn forward had shown a burst of speed inside the area and was brought down leaving the referee with no doubt to point to the spot and the penalty was dispatched into the bottom corner sending Hodge the wrong way and make it 2-1 to the visitors at the break. 12

LATEST MATCH ACTION The second half started well for Ashby and just like the first half they scored an early goal which levelled the scores. It was another fine strike as a through ball found Danny Quinn who had timed his run to perfection to remain onside before he unleashed a shot across the keeper and into the net just inside the far post. The goals continued to flow and on 56 minutes Quorn were back in front when an Ivanhoe attack broke down on the edge of the opposition’s area and two long balls forward found a player in behind the Ashby defence and despite Hodge coming off his line and reaching the ball first his clearance stuck the striker which saw the ball run loose before the finished was applied into an unguarded net. Just after the hour mark though and Ashby levelled the scores for the second time when a free kick midway inside the Quorn half was lifted into the area by Thorogood and the ball was flicked on towards the back post where captain Sam Johnson was there to head the ball back across goal and into the net to make it 3-3. The scoreline quickly became 4-3 in Ashby’s favour on 65 minutes when another free kick this time from halfway was played into the area finding James Purslow and his headed effort from just left of centre found the back of the net. The final 25 minutes then saw limited chances as Ashby looked to hold onto their slender advantage and although Quorn did have more possession in the final minutes they never created a goal threatening chance and after six minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match the referee called time on a thrilling cup tie and send Ashby through to the Preliminary Round and a trip to Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday 20th August.

PATIO AREA DEVELOPMENT Throughout the summer the main objective for the club was to improve the outside area of the clubhouse. This was required to eliminate the loose bound material which was deemed too close to the pitch and is not acceptable on current ground grading rules. On the next couple of pages are a selection of images which show the progress of the development

IN OPPOSITION TODAY WEST BRIDGFORD West Bridgford Colts Football Club was formed in 1990 with the simple ethos of providing local youngsters with a game of football. From the start our strategy was to provide football for all, not just the more able players. We were one of the first junior clubs in the area to regularly field multiple teams at the same age group. Starting off with a couple of boys’ teams the club grew steadily, resulting in us running 18 teams by 2000. In 1994 we signed a lease for the Coronation Ground in West Bridgford. This provided us with a base with a clubhouse, as well as 3 x 11-a-side pitches and a number of different sized small sided pitches, for our 5, 7 and 9 a side teams. In 1996 we started the girls section, which has grown steadily every year, resulting in the Ladies team, West Bridgford Ladies, being formed in 2006. In 2008 the club signed a 25 year lease for our current home, Regatta Way. The Coronation Ground having been purchased by the council to build a new school. The club took the wise decision to install floodlights at the new ground with an eye of the future of the club as we always hoped to run a successful men’s team. 2010 saw the formation of West Bridgford Colts Vets. We formed the senior men’s 1st team, West Bridgford Football Club, in 2011 to provide an exit route for our players. We achieved promotion from Division 2 of the Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League, finishing runners-up, as well as reaching the final of the Nottinghamshire Intermediate Cup, losing narrowly after extra time. In the season 2013/2014, we again finished runners up in the 1st Division, to be promoted into the senior league of the NSL and last season, 2014/2015 we were runners up in the senior league, and finalists in the NSL cup, losing out to Wollaton on both occasions. In the 2015/2016 season we finished 3rd in the NSL Premier League which gave the team promotion, and won the Nottingham’s FA Intermediate Cup. During 2016, the club installed hard standing around 2 edges of our pitch, a 100 seater spectator stand and enclosing the pitch with fencing as we planned for the future development of the club. The total spend was something just over £50,000. This along with our team’s efforts on the field ensured we achieved promotion into the East Midlands Counties League. The club has now formed a second men’s team to further the clubs ambitions and to give players the opportunity from move from Youth football into men’s football. We are a Charter Standard Community Club which this season comprises of over 70 teams with 1056 players and are one of the biggest junior clubs in the country.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
