Before today’s kick off we will be holding a minutes silence for June Tissington who sadly passed away recently. June was involved in the club over a number of years and was the wife of Charlie Tissington Snr, who, himself was one of the founder members of the club and you will see his picture on many of the photos in the clubhouse. Please observe the minutes silence and our thoughts are with June’s family. The last home game against Radford FC saw, for me, the best all round performance of the season and credit to the players and the management team for the effort that had all put in ahead of the game in training and during the game itself. The support we received during the Radford game was our best crowd this season so far and fantastic to see and a very proud moment when I walked out and seen how many spectators were sat in the new stand and around the ground. The ground is quickly becoming to look and feel like a football ground and the atmosphere on match days is fantastic and I thank all of the spectators for their continued support of the club. Today’s game will see representation from our Mini Soccer School walking out with the players and this continues to endorse our “one club” approach and how our younger players are buying into the vision that one day it could be them actually walking out as a first team player. We have fixtures coming up thick and fast over the coming weeks so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on the website and social media for any updates. We still have some seats available in the new stand for you to have a plaque placed with your name or a family members name on which will remain there for a lifetime. They are just £100 and if you would like to reserve yours now that the stand is up let me know. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good afternoon of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/ path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Greenwood Meadows. Unfortunately the weather curtailed our top of the table clash at South Normanton last Saturday which was disappointing to say the least. The spirit in the camp was sky high after our comprehensive victory against, at that time second placed Radford, the Saturday before and we had two positive training sessions in the week further underpinning principles of play on how we are going to set up over the closing weeks of the season. The Radford game saw us change formation slightly providing more cover for the defence particularly in central areas. However, this shouldn’t have detracted from our attacking intentions and after the initial period of the game when Radford had the lions share of possession, we grew into the formation and ran out comfortable winners. To score four goals against one of the form teams in the division was pleasing but to forfeit a clean sheet at the death due to a collective lack of concentration took the shine off the result. The team formation worked very well, if you analyse the individual performances there were a large majority of the team who played bang average, however we scored four goals and probably could have added a further three goals late on if we had taken the opportunities we created. Our opponents today have struggled this season but provided us with a stern challenge in the away fixture. As we impress on the players every week the performance and result of the game lies within our changing room, in football to be challenged is inevitable but to be defeated is optional. It’s time to push on and build on the performance against Radford providing the foundation to provide an entertaining display with the desired outcome. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team

MATCH ACTION VS RADFORD ASHBY IVANHOE 4-1 RADFORD EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 30TH JANUARY 2016 Ashby Ivanhoe came out on top against Radford as the top two in the East Midlands Counties clashed at the NFU Sports Ground. A season record 136 witnessed a great game with Royce Turville superbly giving Ashby the lead midway through the first half. The remaining goals came inside the final 20 minutes of the match with Turville scoring his second before a Danny Quinn penalty and a stoppage time finish from Kerr Horn made it 4-0. Radford scored their consolation deep into stoppage time. The visitors came into the match in the better run of form having won their last three matches while Ashby had collected just one point from their previous three matches and their lead at the top of the table had been cut to six points and it was Radford who started this match on the front foot and with just three minutes on the clock they almost opened the scoring when a free kick was turned behind for a corner and from that an effort at goal was cleared off the line. Ashby slowly worked their way into the match and they took the lead with a fine goal on 28 minutes when a ball into the area from the right was headed on inside the area to Turville and he struck a shot on the turn which was far enough into the top corner despite the keeper getting a touch to the ball. There was a chance for Ashby to double their advantage before half time when good play put Luke Thorogood behind the defence and his shot across goal was saved by the keeper and despite not holding onto the ball he managed to gather at the second attempt and it remained 1-0 at the break. Just like at the beginning of the first half the second half saw Radford have an early chance to score when a well struck effort from distance just cleared the Ivanhoe crossbar. Ashby’s first chance of the second half came just after the hour mark when a long ball over the top of the defence saw leading scorer Quinn in on goal and after getting into the area left of goal the keeper closed him down and saved the strikers shot with his legs and the next chance also fell the way of the Ashby forward but when clean through the shot was wide of the target. The pressure from the home side eventually saw the second goal scored on 72 minutes when a low cross into the area from the left from Quinn was turned in at the near post by Turville for his second goal of the afternoon. Ten minutes from time and Ashby were awarded a penalty after Quinn was tripped inside the area and he stepped up himself to powerful dispatch the ball beyond the Radford keeper to make it 3-0. The final goals of the match came in stoppage time and it was Ashby who firstly increased their lead to four when a cross into the area from the right saw the keeper go to claim but the ball struck substitute Kerr Horn with the ball finding the net. Then just a minute later Ashby failed to clear the ball from inside their own area and Radford capitalised to turn home a consolation goal and end the match 4-1. The result saw a welcome return to winning ways for Ashby with their lead at the top of the East Midlands Counties League increased to eight points.

ASHBY FC SUPPORTERS CLUB THEIVANHOE OPPOSITION A warm welcome toSTAPENHILL everyone here for today’s 1st team East Midlands Counties League match at the NFU Sports Ground against Greenwood Meadows. They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior

League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining in their debut In our last home game against Radford it was good to watch our boys getpromotion back to winning ways season with a and winning the Division One championship in the twoone seasons. They remained in that resounding 4-1 victory in front of our biggest gate at home sofollowing far against of the leagues better sides division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) Division Two, winning the top who flight, atnow to stay top of the league. Unfortunately last week’s tough awayingame at South Normanton, the renamed the Premier more 1986/1987 anddue 1988/1989. moment are the only team who points Division, wise cantwice catch us, –was called off to the bad weather and would surely have been the most important match of the season.

They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of thematch Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning fromP22, the W1, league in and January Later So to today’s against lowly Greenwood Meadows who have D1, L202002. record andthat looks a year joined the Leicestershire Senior Leagueteams and were as runners-up the Premier Division. In tough the surethey home banker but I’m sure like all other willpromoted want to beat the tableinto toppers and will provide 2007/2008 they were members the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged stadium oppositionseason, and I expect a hard foughtofmatch but a win for our lads and my prediction is atheir 3-0 home win for Ivanhoe. the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained promotion to the EMCL looks in the fantastic 2012/2013and season. The new grandstand hope we as a good local football club striving to continuously to

improve our facilities can attract more and more supporters to come and watch our teams. By the way we

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
