Before kick off today we will be observing a minute’s applause for Barrie Fitzgerald who sadly passed away on the 6th April. Barrie has been involved with the football club over many years, initially with David Hunt and then with Ashby Ivanhoe both as a Manager and supporter. I am sure that Barrie had a strong influence on his son, Jamie, who has played for the club at junior, youth and senior level and also had a stint at coaching our Under 16’s and still turns out for the seniors when he is back from Uni. If any of you knew Barrie and would like to attend his funeral it will take place on Friday 22nd April, 1.30pm at Bretby Crematorium and his family would like it to be a celebration of Barrie’s life and to wear casual and bright clothing if you wish. Please join in with the minute’s applause and our thoughts are with Barrie’s family at this difficult time. We will be joined today by Barrie’s wife, Marie and his son Jamie. With just 2 games to go in what seems a long season, I have to pay credit to the management team of Miles, Andy, Jose for the professional way they have conducted the football side of the club this season and their commitment has been first class throughout the season and I hope that these are just the foundations we have been aiming for for sometime and I know that they will be even more determined to continue improving our chances of success next season. Of course we all would like 2 wins from the last 2 games and to keep the pressure on the 3 teams around us as anything can happen but regardless we will finish in the clubs highest position in only our 2nd season in the EMCFL. The players have given their all over the season too and this is testament to them wanting to play for the management team and the club and I am sure that we have still to see more from these players in the seasons ahead. Credit must also be given to Marie the Physio who has also shown true commitment to training and match days and been around to fix players when they have been injured, well done Marie. The reserves played their first season in the premier division of the Senior League and my thanks to Glyn who held the reigns for most of the season and whilst, at times its been frustrating for him I’m sure, it has to be acknowledged that only 2 seasons ago this is where our first team where playing and I am sure the players have learnt a lot this year and will be better prepared next season. The purpose of the reserves is to support the first team and to develop players who want to play first team football for this club. If winning follows that’s a bonus but the primary aim is to be competitive and develop players to move forward. This season also witnessed the start of our development team and credit to Jamie Appleby and his assistant Steve Lakin for the effort they have put in with the players this season. The purpose of the development team is to introduce youth players to senior football at the right time and to prepare them for progression into the more senior squads. The development of players continues with the ongoing commitment from Alex Roome, our Midweek under 18’s Manager. Alex continues to attract players and promote them through to the senior squads and his efforts often go un-recognised but I acknowledge the contribution he continues to make at this club.

CHAIRMANS WELCOME Putting the football to one side I would like to express my deepest and most sincere thanks to Ian Irving who this season put his hand up to help out around the ground but nearly 12 months on I am sure that he wished he hadn’t but, for one I am glad he did as his commitment to the work needed around the ground during the season has been relentless and admirable to say the least. Not only has he painted, he’s swept out changing rooms, cleaned showers, unblocked toilets, fixed damaged doors, emptied bins, the list goes on. However the significant value he has added has been with the work he has done on the pitch and in particular his skill with a fork is envied by many. The hours and hours he has spent forking and sanding the pitch when most clubs would have cancelled games is testament to his commitment and the players never see this effort and they should be the first to shake his hand today and thank him for his efforts over the season to provide them with one of the best surfaces now in the league. If we added up the hours that Ian has put in over the season and paid today’s living wage the club would struggle to find the money to pay him, this is what volunteers do for this club. Additionally we have calculated that he has forked in over 80 bags of sand into the pitch and that in itself allows us to open up the pitch over the summer to young families who want to bring a paddling pool and enjoy Ashby’s newest beach. But seriously all this work has paid dividends and great job Ian. The number of volunteers increased this year too with Kirsty and Graham adding a huge amount of their time to help out on match days with the catering for spectators and food for the players and hospitality for the visiting teams’ officials. Additionally helping out with maintenance work and even the Christmas decorations. And people like Kirsty and Graham are invaluable to the club and I thank them for all their efforts this season. As always there has been milestones at the club over the season and ongoing improvements to the ground and my thanks to Mark Pepper, yet again who has delivered every time for this club and helped us to benefit from the facilities we now see in front of us. His efforts have been supported by his apprentices Dave Morris and John Emmerson too who have put in a shift or two over the season and should be proud of their contribution to moving the club forward. Over the coming months, John Emmerson will also be sharing more of the clubs plans and projects as we continue to improve and grow the club so keep your eyes peeled for news and updates over the Summer months and if you can lend a hand feel free to put it firmly in the air and one of us will gladly grab it and welcome you into our dedicated team of volunteers. The clubs Management team continues to remain committed to the growth of the club and my thanks to Neil, Martin, Charlie, Dave Buckley, Mick Buckley, Andy Topham, and Glyn Andrews for their continued commitment and hours spent on club business. The clubs junior section continues to grow and my thanks to all the development coaches, players and parents for their ongoing support over the season and we are slowly becoming the club we set out to become, one that has a clear pathway for players to develop and progress with one club and that makes me proud. As these notes are predominantly about thanking people I would like to thank each and every one of you that has supported the teams home and away and it is looking like we will be top of the attendance table again this season which is fantastic for everyone. I know the players really enjoy playing in front of growing numbers and we are creating a really nice match day atmosphere at the ground which I have not witnessed anywhere else this season so thank you to all of you for your support over the season and keep your eyes peeled for the start of the friendlies and come down and support all of the teams. The Commercial support we have received this season has been amazing and thank you to all of the club sponsors who have shown ongoing commitment to what we are trying to achieve by supporting us financially with kits, adverts, pitch side boards, ground sponsorships etc and I am committed to ensuring that we provide all of our sponsors with a positive experience and their investment is a much needed cog in the wheel of the football business. I, for one am not an egotistical Chairman that thinks throwing money around is the right thing to do for the long term success of the club and this is why we work hard to build a sustainable club and the Commercial contribution is a huge factor in how we are to achieve this. Many of the sponsors have been to the ground over the season and have been impressed by what we are aiming to achieve. The programme yet again gets rave reviews from visiting clubs and ground hoppers and a huge amount of credit goes to Matthew Lester who pulls together this programme and for me produces the best programme at this level and a few steps higher. Well done Matthew. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good afternoon of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman PS – If you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Kimberley Miners Welfare. The minimum requirement after the defeat to St Andrews was to maximise our points tally in the remaining six games to capitalise on any potential slip ups from St Andrews, South Normanton and Radford. A poor pitch and gale force wind made our away trip to Borrowash a lottery but full credit to the players for knuckling down and playing to the conditions and scoring two goals whilst keeping a clean sheet. Not the most entertaining Saturday afternoon for all concerned. Onto Bank Holiday Monday and a 5-0 victory against a woeful Ellistown & Ibstock United “team.” We played within ourselves for large periods of the game and the victory was not as emphatic as it could and should have been. Having watched Holbrook beat South Normanton in the mid-week we were under no illusions about the task ahead of us when we travelled there on the Saturday. With a sodden pitch and severe slope we backed the skipper for once to win the toss and he duly obliged and went up the slope in the first half. We played with energy and pressed a talented opposition in all areas of the pitch, hit the crossbar before taking the lead on the stroke of half time. As good as we were in that first half, we lapsed after the interval, gave the opposition encouragement, conceding a sloppy equaliser and not looking threatening until the closing 10 minutes when the crossbar denied us victory on 2 occasions. That 2 points dropped could prove a vital factor in the run in as it eases the mounting pressure on our rivals. Our opposition last Saturday are a good example of how fickle and fragile football can be at this level. Arnold Town having started the season promisingly fell foul of a player exodus which has seen them in free fall since. The first half drew parity at one each but we raised our game after the break to score a further 3 goals with further chances going begging. To conclude, 10 points from a possible 12 under normal circumstances would be a good return but our situation demanded a maximum. Kimberley have had new management since our last encounter back in sun drenched August and we are under no illusions today’s encounter will be a far closer affair than that was. Our aim is to put on two good performances starting this afternoon before visiting South Normanton to conclude the season on the up. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support, enjoy the game and have a good summer. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

DEVELOPMENT TEAM UPDATE As the inaugural season draws to a close for the Ashby Ivanhoe FC Development Team it would be fair to say that the final league position and run of results has not been favourable. However you would be forgiven for thinking that results may of course lead to low morale, frustration or unrest in the changing room, in fact, you couldn’t be further from the truth. With only three league wins and a couple of draws to go with three preseason wins most teams would be despondent and looking to attribute blame to anyone and everyone. This has certainly not been the case; the team have been competitive in all games and have played from the first whistle to the last with incredible motivation, appetite and endeavour, in every game played. With only thirty players signed on, to compete week in week out when results are not going your way speaks volumes of the lads involved. I would like to place on record my thanks to Steven Lakin who has acted as assistant manager throughout this season, without his continued help and support, and infectious personality, the team would certainly have been worse off. A special mention should also go to Alex Clarke who has passed on the benefit of his experience to the younger lads and set the standard in terms of attitude, commitment and behaviour. It is hoped that the team will continue to grow and develop next season in whatever capacity the club desires and I’m sure the Reserves and First Team will soon start to see the benefits associated with providing a positive learning environment where young players can be encouraged to express themselves and be the best that they can be individually and collectively. Thanks to everyone who has played and contributed in whatever way, small or large, and all the best. Jamie Appleby Development Team Manager

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 The 2015/2016 season was Ashby Ivanhoe’s second at step 6 and following a successful first season where a sixth place finish was achieved the aim for the new season was to win the title and promotion into step 5 of the non-league pyramid and the Midland Football League. Pre-season saw a new management team of Miles Warriner, Andy Gray & Jose Ascensao appointed and after good results in pre-season the squad was ready for the league campaign. AUGUST The season began on a sweltering summer’s day with an away trip to Radcliffe Olympic and there were only three players in the starting line-up that had finished the last campaign. It was a tough opening match to the season which looked destined to end in a goalless draw but Ashby battled to the end and were rewarded five minutes from time when substitute Chris Waldrum fired home the solitary goal and the first three points were on the board. The following midweek saw Ashby on their travels again with a trip to Gedling Miners Welfare who headed the early season table after a 5-0 opening day win and just like the opening match the defences were hard to breach with the match ending in a goalless draw.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 Borrowash Victoria were the first opponents at the NFU Sports Ground the following Saturday where a crowd of 103 saw Ashby take a first half lead through Dan Stevenson and they held that advantage until five minutes from the end of the second half when the visitors levelled the scores. Ashby again wouldn’t settle for a point though and Luke Thorogood restored the lead with a minute remaining before Danny Quinn grabbed his first of the season deep into stoppage time to secure a 3-1 victory. The most surprising result of the opening month of the season came in the next match away at Kimberley Miners Welfare where three goals in each half saw Ashby return home with a 6-0 victory. Kerr Horn scored the first two before Chris Waldrum made it 3-0 on the half hour mark. Danny Quinn and Luke Thorogood increased the lead to 5-0 before the hour mark before Quinn added his second six minutes from time with the result putting Ashby on top of the table. The final two games of the month came in quick succession over the Bank Holiday weekend and first up was a visit to the NFU from Anstey Nomads. For the first time this season Ashby found themselves behind in a match with a goal after 18 minutes but Chris Waldrum drew Ashby level before the break but neither team could find a second after the break and the points were deservedly shared. Bank Holiday Monday saw Ashby on the travels with a local derby at Ellistown & Ibstock United who had made a poor start to the season but Ashby made heavy weather of the match and after Danny Quinn had given them the lead just before the break Ellistown levelled on 55 minutes and it remained that way until deep into stoppage time where Quinn headed home a Waldrum cross to win the match 2-1 and put Ashby two points clear at the end of the month. SEPTEMBER September started away from league action as the first qualifying round of the FA Vase took place and it was the first Vase match to be held at the NFU Sports Ground with Midland Football League side Racing Club Warwick the visitors. There was to be disappointment for the majority of the large 131 crowd as although Ashby dominated the match they failed to convert their chances and tasted defeat for the first time this season going down 2-0. The Vase defeat didn’t knock the team’s confidence though and they responded the following Tuesday night away at Stapenhill as they returned to winning ways with a narrow victory. The match was by far by a classic with the only goal coming on the half hour mark from Luke Thorogood. Ashby then began a run of six consecutive home matches with the first visitors coming from early strugglers Barrow Town. Ashby took the game away from their opponents early on with Danny Quinn and Chris Saunders scoring inside the first 12 minutes with Quinn completing a 3-0 victory from the penalty spot ten minutes from time to increase the lead at the top to four points from Radford and Holbrook.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 Next up was Arnold Town who also couldn’t live with the fast starting Ivanhoe with Scott Cordy scored a first half brace and another from Kerr Horn saw Ashby record a comfortable 3-1 victory. Ashby dominated the first half as they produced some great attacking football and they were rewarded when Cordy put them in front midway through the half. The final five minutes of the half saw Horn and then Cordy add to the scoresheet to put Ashby in a commanding position at the break and despite Arnold pulling one back late in the game there was to be no late comeback.

Ashby stretched their unbeaten start to the season to ten matches with a midweek 4-1 victory over Holwell Sports. It was also a fifth straight league victory as early goals from Kerr Horn and Danny Quinn put Ashby in control inside 20 minutes. The visitors pulled one back direct from a corner before a superb header from James Purslow and an own goals sealed the three points. September ended with a tough match against Aylestone Park and despite taking the lead through Royce Turville midway through the first half the away side levelled just before the break. They were only level for 60 seconds though as Luke Thorogood quickly restored their lead which they held on to during a scoreless second half to record a sixth straight league victory which saw their lead at the top of the table increase to nine points at the end of September but having played three games more. OCTOBER October began with another tough match with fourth placed Holbrook Sports the visitors to the NFU but Ashby overcame the challenge to increase their lead at the top of the table to 12 points with a 3-1 victory. First half goals from Danny Quinn and captain Sam Johnson put Ashby in control at the break. The visitors pressed forward in the second half and pulled one back with ten minutes remaining before a close range header from Luke Thorogood sealed a seventh straight league victory. Another challenge awaited Ashby the following week and they saw their unbeaten start to the season ended as they were beaten by the odd goal in five against fellow title challengers South Normanton Athletic. The visitors were the better side in the first half but only opened the scoring in stoppage time at the end of the half. The first ten minutes of the second half saw Ashby turn the match around with two well taken goals from Chris Waldrum and Danny Quinn before South Normanton levelled and then edged in front for the second time and despite Ashby hitting the post in the closing minutes the visitors held on. vs Kimberley Miners Welfare | Saturday 16th April 2016 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 Ashby had a great chance to respond to their defeat the following weekend when they travelled to basement side Greenwood Meadows but regardless of their league position you still have to beat what is in front of you and it took until the second half for Ashby to break the deadlock with Danny Quinn netting on the hour mark. The points were secured twelve minutes from time as Luke Thorogood netted the second goal. Disappointment followed the following week though as a poor performance against third from bottom Graham Street Prims was duly punished and they returned home with the points following a 3-1 victory. Ashby had taken the lead eight minutes before half time and they held on to their slender advantage until the final twenty minutes where two quick goals turned the match in the visitors favour. As Ashby pushed for an equaliser the visitors broke to complete the scoring two minutes from time to inflict Ashby second consecutive home defeat. Would the result prove crucial later in the season?

The final match of the month saw a visit to an out of form Holwell Sports and Ashby bounced back from a home defeat the previous week for the second away game running recording a 3-0 victory. Sam Johnson scored the first goal inside the final ten minutes of a poor first half before Danny Quinn and substitute Antonio Williams sealed the three points in a one sided second half.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 NOVEMBER November started with a home match against Blaby & Whetstone Athletic and Ashby maintained their eight point lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 5-0. Ashby opened the scoring early on through Danny Quinn before the visitors had their goalkeeper dismissed having handled the ball outside the area. Ashby then quickly increased their lead to 3-0 at the break with another goal for Quinn and Kerr Horn. Quinn completed his hat-trick inside a minute of the second half before an own goal completed the scoring two minutes from time. Up next was another home match this time against Gedling Miners Welfare and despite the match being played in awful conditions Ashby recorded a third straight victory to nil with a 2-0 win. Ashby opened the scoring midway through the first half through Kerr Horn with the second coming ten minutes after the break from a penalty converted by Antonio Williams. After a good start to the month attention turned to Ashby’s debut in the Leicestershire Challenge Cup and they were up against Northern Premier Division South side Loughborough Dynamo in the first round and on a extremely stormy evening Ashby put in one of their best displays of the season to upset their opponents from two leagues higher. Ashby started quickly and goals inside the opening 15 minutes from Dan Stevenson and Chris Waldrum put them 2-0 up. Loughborough did battle back to force extra time and after being reduced to nine men during the extra 30 minutes Scott Cordy popped up with the winner in the 118th minute to deservedly put Ashby through to the Quarter Finals. The month ended with a local derby against Stapenhill and Ashby increased their lead at the top of the table to 12 points following a narrow 1-0 victory. The match played at times in heavy rain was far from a classic just like the reverse fixture with limited chances troubling both keepers and as the match looked to be heading for a goalless stalemate Royce Turville got onto the end of a through ball in the 88th minute before rolling the ball beyond the keeper. DECEMBER December saw the weather start to make an impact on the fixtures with only two of the scheduled matches taking place and first up was a second round league cup tie away at Blaby & Whetstone Athletic which had been rescheduled following a postponement the week before. Having received a bye in the first round of the competition Ashby were looking to advance to the Quarter Finals but the home side gained revenge for their 5-0 thrashing a month previously to win 2-1 with Ashby’s goal coming via an own goal. The following Saturday Ashby took full advantage of the chasing pack being without a league match to defeat visitors Radcliffe Olympic and stretch their lead at the top of the table to 12 points. Despite the comfortable looking scoreline it took until the final quarter of the match for Ashby to open the scoring though Danny Quinn with Luke Thorogood quickly doubling the advantage. Chris Saunders then added a third with ten minutes remaining before Tom Rowell headed home to complete the scoring three minutes into stoppage time.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 The final two matches of 2015 were both postponed due to the weather and heading into the second half of the season Ashby held a nine point lead at the top of the table. JANUARY The start of the New Year saw Ashby faced with some tough challenges to maintain their title push with three away matches and a home match with fellow title challengers Radford. First up was a trip to Anstey Nomads and Ashby made the best possible start as Danny Quinn put them in front with just seven minutes on the clock before the home side levelled three minutes before half time. Then what was then going to become a trend during January was a late goal against Ashby as Anstey sealed the points three minutes from time to send Ashby to their first league defeat since the end of October. Barrow Town were the next side for Ashby to visit and late goals again had a bearing on the result. Danny Quinn was on the scoresheet again giving Ashby the lead on 20 minutes but it didn’t last long with Barrow drawing level within two minutes. Then as the match looked to be heading for a draw Quinn popped up to net his second goal three minutes from time but Ashby failed to hang onto their lead and in the second minute of stoppage time the home side levelled the match at 2-2 and another couple of crucial points had been dropped. Up next was a trip to Aylestone Park and Ashby again saw points dropped from a winning position. Tom Rowell gave Ashby the lead on the stroke of half time and they held onto that lead until the final twenty minutes when the home side drew level before they sealed victory with the decisive third goal ten minutes from time and Ashby’s lead at the top had been cut to six points. The following midweek attention turned to the Quarter Finals of the Leicestershire Challenge Cup and Ashby faced an away trip to United Counties League leaders Leicester Nirvana. Both sides were equally matched in the first half and the sides went in at the break level at 1-1 with Ryan Pirrie scoring on his debut for Ashby. The scores remained level for the majority of the second half until the home side edged in front seven minutes from time and with Ashby failing to get back on level terms hopes of reaching a possible final at the King Power Stadium were over for another season. The month ended with a crucial top of the table clash at the NFU as second placed Radford were the visitors and the largest crowd of the season so far of 136 witnessed a great game as Ashby came out on top with a 4-1 victory. Royce Turville superbly gave Ashby the lead midway through the first half. The remaining goals came inside the final 20 minutes of the match with Turville scoring his second before a Danny Quinn penalty and a stoppage time finish from Kerr Horn made it 4-0. Radford scored their consolation deep into stoppage time with the lead at the top increased to eight points heading into February.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 FEBRUARY February should have began with a clash of the top two as Ashby made the way to South Normanton Athletic but weather intervened and the match was postponed meaning the first game of the month was at home against bottom of the table Greenwood Meadows and Ashby comfortably saw off their visitors to maintain their eight point lead at the top. Danny Quinn quickly put Ashby two up inside the opening ten minutes with Luke Thorogood adding a third first half goal. The visitors scored a consolation five minutes after the break before Thorogood netted two goals to complete a hat-trick and further goals from Tom Rowell and Kerr Horn completed a routine 7-1 victory. Up next for Ashby was an away trip to Graham Street Prims who had defeated Ashby earlier in the season and it looked to be heading that way again as they took the lead inside the opening twenty minutes and they held on to that right up until the final five minutes. That was when substitute Kerr Horn levelled the scores with four minutes remaining and deep into stoppage Ashby were awarded a penalty and Danny Quinn stepped up to dispatch the penalty and give Ashby the three points. A crucial match was to follow as Ashby made the midweek trip to third place St Andrews who sat ten points behind Ashby with three games in hand and they had the perfect start as a goal from Luke Thorogood just before the break gave them a 1-0 half time lead. St Andrews were always going to be a tough side to keep out and so it proved with two second half goals on the hour mark and 70 minutes saw them turn the match around and close the gap at the top. Come the end of the month the lead had been reduced further to just four points. MARCH The penultimate month of the season saw Ashby with some tough matches which could decide their title destiny with games at Blaby, Radford and Borrowash along with a home clash with St Andrews. First up was the trip to Blaby & Whetstone Athletic who hadn’t lost a league match at home since mid September but Ashby put in a fine performance to record a 3-1 victory. Luke Thorogood gave Ashby a first half lead which Kerr Horn increased shortly after the break. Despite Blaby pulling a goal back on the hour mark Danny Quinn netted Ashby’s third ten minutes from time to seal the points. Next up was a trip to Radford in another crucial game at the top as the third placed hosts sat six points behind Ashby with two games in hand. The first half was a tight affair with keeper Chris Hodge keeping Ashby level with a penalty save. Radford did break the deadlock early in the second half and looked to be heading for an important three points but Ashby had other ideas and with just a minute of the 90 remaining Danny Quinn netted an equaliser to give Ashby a point.

SEASON REVIEW 2015/2016 The following match pitted the top two against each other in a six-pointer as St Andrews were the visitors. The importance of the match was evident as a record crowd of 175 packed into the NFU Sports Ground. At the start of play Ashby were two points ahead of their nearest rivals having played two games more. The match didn’t go Ashby’s way though and they found themselves 1-0 down at the break with a goal after half an hour. The home side tried to get on terms during the second half and despite hitting the bar and having a shot cleared off the line two goals for St Andrews inside the final ten minutes gave them the important victory and saw Ashby off the top of the table for the first time since the end of August. March finished with an Easter Bank Holiday double header with a trip to Borrowash Victoria on the Saturday and they returned to winning ways as Scott Cordy gave them a first half lead before Danny Quinn wrapped up the three points four minutes from time to keep Ashby just a point off the top. Then on Easter Monday it was the return fixture against Ellistown & Ibstock United and the strugglers were easily brushed aside by Ashby who recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory. Luke Thorogood set Ashby on their way with the only goal of the first half but after the break the goals started to flow and after Chris Waldrum had double the advantage Thorogood netted his second and Ashby’s third before two goals from substitute Royce Turville completed the scoring. APRIL The final month of the season began with an away trip at Holbrook Sports who had just upset fellow title challengers South Normanton Athletic in midweek so a tough match was in-store. Ashby broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time through James Purslow before Holbrook struck an equaliser seven minutes into the second half. Neither team could find a winner with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Ashby were then on the road again the following weekend strugglers Arnold Town. The first half saw a poor showing from Ashby and they fell behind eight minutes before the break with Chris Waldrum levelling the scores on 43 minutes. Ashby improved a lot in the second half and they quickly moved into a commanding lead with two goals from Danny Quinn and one from Luke Thorogood completing a 4-1 victory. With two matches of the season remaining, today against Kimberley Miners Welfare and the final game away at South Normanton Athletic on 30th April, Ashby still have a chance of achieving their aim of winning the title and promotion although they will have to rely on results elsewhere. Whatever happens over the final couple of weeks of 2015/2016 it has still been a successful season with improvement shown from last season and if the same improvement continues into 2016/2017 then Ashby will be in a very good position. 22

A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT Good afternoon & welcome to Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. It's our final home game today so the Chairman has asked me to give some observations of the season, so here goes... Well with 2 games to go whatever happens the club will finish in its highest ever position in the club's history. Absolute credit to the Management team and the players who have worked so hard all season, we have 2 games left, let's see if we can win them both & who knows where that may take us ? I have attended nearly all first team games this season & we certainly have played some fabulous football at times, none better than the performance against today's opponents on a sunny afternoon in August. The start we made to the season was terrific & I think testament to the professional approach to pre-season with highlights such as a last minute winner over the "assorted villages" (always sweet!) & a fabulous performance against Loughborough Dynamo in The Challenge Cup which showed we can live at a higher level, even if their PA announcer thought we were "Barrow Town", that epitomised the utter disrespect we were shown that night on & off the pitch & I know that would never happen at our club. We had been top of the league from August until March, of course at times by virtue of playing our games, credit to Stuart & Ian for the standard of the pitch meaning that was the case, but those games still needed to be won & I sincerely hope we can gain some reward for everyone's hard work by gaining promotion this season. Other highlights for me have been our away trips, for many years we have been used to pitching up at local grounds with poor facilities at 2.55pm, however now our travels are a little longer & with the advent of a lunchtime Premier League game a hardened gang have started travelling earlier & either watching the game in the opposition's clubhouse or finding a local hostelry for some lunch (liquid in Emmo's case!). This has been great fun & we have had some real laughs along the way, Mr Roome (or was it "Mr Grimsdale") falling through the door at The Wilmot Arms, Borrowash (sober) to the delight of the locals a particular favourite of mine. Blaby's right back throwing mud at me, missing, hitting Charlie & being sent off, everyone else's favourite. Thanks to Charlie for being our regular designated driver & I certainly hope that we can grow this trend in the coming seasons. Quite how I became involved with our social media I do not know as my son will doubtless tell you I am hopeless (and impatient) with all things I.T. but the benefits are obvious in terms of getting our message out to the masses on games/ events concerning the club. We currently have over 1100 followers on Twitter & some of our posts on Facebook reach over 1500 regularly. I certainly believe that this has generated increased interest in the club and that is reflected in our crowds which are again the best in the league (despite Neil & Martin's faulty abacus at times!). So if you do not already follow us on either medium please do and please "retweet" & "share" (ooer, get me Microsoft Morris!) as often as you can as it only boosts our profile within the area. Finally, the strides off the pitch once again have been amazing this season, the new stand is sensational, we now own our own tractor which has assisted Stuart & Ian hugely in maintaining the superb playing surface. We have a hospitality suite, our sponsors are increasing all the time & Stuart does a great job of keeping those businesses engaged with The Club so hopefully they will stick with us too. The clubhouse atmosphere is terrific too & the number of people involved with the club is booming. Nothing pleases me more that seeing somebody I do not know wearing AIFC attire around the town, brilliant, more please. So that's it, onwards & upwards, another season of progress on & off the field. Well done & thank you to Stuart Bonser without whom this club simply could not function. Thank you to all of the other Managers, coaches & volunteers all of whom give so much of their time (unpaid) with the vision of progression for Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. We can always welcome any help anyone can give us in whatever sphere of expertise/influence you have so please get involved if you would like to. Good luck to Maz & the boys today, let's finish the season with 2 wins & see what happens. Dave Morris Club President

IN OPPOSITION TODAY KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club was formed in 1926, one year after the opening of the Miners Welfare. The early years were spent playing at the Mill Field, approx ½ mile North of Digby Street. In 1932 Kimberley MW moved to the new recreation ground, Digby Street, situated adjacent to Digby Colliery and its cricket ground. Initially, Digby Street was solely a playing field with teams changing in Tommy Bird’s (pronounced Tommy Bod’s, in the local dialect) front room. It was a lengthy walk, for players and officials to Digby Street, because Tommy lived in a house supplied for workers, on site, at the Giltbrook Leather Works. In the late 1950s, changing facilities moved, to the Miners Welfare Bowling Alley underneath the building, which meant an even longer walk for players and officials. Kimberley MW have played at Digby Street for 81 years but, it hasn’t been continuous. The club played at the Wolsey Sports Ground for one season, 1974/75 (situated where Sainsbury’s Car Park now is, in Kimberley Town Centre), because the construction of the new A610 Eastwood & Kimberley Bypass took away part of the ground and made it unusable. 1982 was a key year in the history of the club as the present chairman Neil Johnson took on the role of chairman from his father. It wasn’t until the 1995/6 season that changing facilities were provided on the ground. A £7,500 grant from the National Lottery, and an equivalent generous donation from Chairman Neil Johnson, enabled the club to buy, transport and erect the unwanted changing rooms from Calverton Cricket Club. This was around the time of the clubs most successful period on the pitch under the leadership of Paul Horry Kimberley won all 4 trophies available to them. Paul Horry left and was replaced on a caretaker basis by Steve Hobster. Don Munn took charger before the appointment of George Hulley. The joint management of Alf Stacey & Steve Towle took charge in the early 2000s. The pair resigned a few years later when Kimberley then turned back to George Hulley who remained in charge until 2014 being replaced by present manager Paul Rawden. In 2012 Kimberley MW were given use of The Stag Ground former home of the defunct Kimberley Town and the task of restoring the ground with the superb relationship of Kimberley Town Council is well underway with hundreds of man hours put in the town of Kimberley finally have a Step 6 club and ground to be proud of. The clubs record crowd was 389 in a Notts Senior League game against Keyworth United in April 2012 at Digby Street. The record crowd at The Stag Ground for a Welfare game is 116. In September 2015 Paul Rawden stood down from his position as First Team Manager after a disappointing start to the season. The club acted quickly to install ex professional Tony Hemmings as new manager. The clubs ultimate aim is of FA Cup Football for the 2016/17 season for the first time in the clubs history and first time the town of Kimberley has seen it in over 20 years. At the end of January 2016 Tony Hemmings left the club by mutual agreement, with Martin Lench stepping in assisted by Andy Miller until the end of the present season.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
