Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Arnold Town FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Arnold Town FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. Last weekend witnessed a real spectacle for the club and for the town as we were represented by 8 of our teams from Under 11’s to the first team on various pitches around the town. This is another significant step forward for the club and is testament to the growth we have experienced over the last few seasons. I hope one day you will be able to visit any pitch in the town over a weekend and see a team from Ashby Ivanhoe playing. Ideally it would be an ambition of the club to secure the land to the rear of the clubhouse and have it available for more pitches so that you won’t have to travel too far to watch the boys in blue play. It was also a proud day for me on Saturday as I got to watch my son, Kieran play his first match on home soil. Having received notification that we have now got planning consent for the new stand, we will be working with the contractors to establish a delivery date and I will keep you posted once we have more details available. The club has also been awarded a grant towards the new Kubota mower and again we are awaiting confirmation of the delivery of the machine. This will dramatically help us maintain the ground at the club and I am sure there will be a queue of people wanting to help mow the pitches when it arrives rather than use the old yellow mower. I would like to thank all of our supporters for your continued support of the team both home and away. It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you watching the team and I know that the players are very appreciative too as there’s nothing better than having great support encouraging you from the sidelines. The club remains top of the attendance league and let’s hope that the team maintain their unbeaten start and that we start to increase our attendance average to over 100. All that remains is to wish our players well today and hope we all are in for a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Arnold Town. With the demise of Mickleover Royals and the number of League games reduced to thirty six, today’s fixture, if my rudimentary maths are correct, means we are a quarter of the way through the season. A nineteen team League makes the number of games more manageable especially if the weather means you lose two or three Saturday’s in the winter months. The number of scheduled midweek games is kept to a minimum which allows you to comfortably fit postponed fixtures in. Our fixture today is our second in a string of six back to back home games which seems slightly bizarre. Everyone bangs on about making your home ground “a fortress” and if you look at football through the years all successful sides dominate at home. As away teams have become more organised defensively and more adept at counter attacking football the pendulum has swung slightly but having a strong home record is the foundation to a successful League campaign. As a team we need to be able to adapt to both styles, being as comfortable having possession of the ball and territorial advantage for long spells as well as working as a team without the ball bringing teams onto us to enable quick counter attacks on transition. Both styles require players to be brave, in the first instance to keep possession in the tightest of situations and in the second to back the defensive technique and organisation both individually and collectively to absorb pressure in order to create space further up the pitch to exploit on the counter attack. To date we haven’t produced a really good home performance. Although we have been brave in possession of the ball we need to work on our final passing combinations in and around the opposition penalty area plus our finishing. Anyone who went to Kimberley saw a classic example of counter attacking football when virtually everything we touched turned to gold. As we continue to emphasise to the players you can’t just turn up on a Saturday and expect things to just click into place. The performance is a result of training and developing the required understanding and technique on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Our win against Barrow Town at the NFU last Saturday probably summed up our home form to date, good in spells, pretty mediocre in patches and bordering on defensive suicide on three separate occasions that I can care to remember. Another cliché “goals change games” was applicable as Hodgey pulled off a fine save to deny the Barrow centre forward and moments later we were one up courtesy of a Waldrum free kick that apparently tickled a strand of Just Gents hair. The goal settled us down but we never really found our rhythm although we ran out comfortable winners. With respect to today’s fixture, let’s hope we can build on the hard work and efforts of the last few weeks and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. Without repeating myself, to date results have been better than performances which will only take us so far but not ultimately to where we want to be. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team vs Arnold Town | Saturday 19th September 2015 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

MATCH ACTION VS BARROW TOWN ASHBY IVANHOE 3-0 BARROW TOWN EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2015
Ashby Ivanhoe bounced back from their FA Vase disappointment to record two wins in a week which increases their lead at the top of the table to four points over nearest challengers Radford and Holbrook Sports. Tuesday night saw Ashby make the short trip to Stapenhill where a solitary strike from Luke Thorogood secured a 1-0 victory. The match against Barrow Town was more comfortable with Ashby quickly building a two goal lead inside 12 minutes through Danny Quinn and Chris Saunders before a penalty ten minutes from time from Quinn sealed the second three point haul of the week.
Ashby started this match against Barrow on the front foot and with their first chance of the match they were ahead when from close to the right touchline the ball was crossed in by Chris Waldrum and in the centre of the area was Danny Quinn and he sent a glancing header beyond the keeper and into the bottom corner of the net and the advantage was quickly doubled just four minutes later and it was Waldrum who again provided the assist when he headed the ball down to Chris Saunders in a central position just outside the area and after stopping the ball and then beating a defender he was left with just the keeper to beat and he made no mistake to slot the ball home. 8

MATCH ACTION VS BARROW TOWN With Barrow struggling to get into the game and create chances Ashby were fairly comfortable for the remainder of the first half but they failed to add to their tally before the break with the only chance of note coming from Royce Turville who saw his shot clear the bar and Ashby went in at the break with a 2-0 lead.
The second half saw Ashby continue to be in control and midway through the half they almost increased their lead when a from a corner the ball was punched clear and from the edge of the area a header from James Purslow was just wide of the post. Ashby did add a third goal as the match entered the final ten minutes when Danny Quinn was brought down inside the area and his last action of the match before being substituted was to strike a powerful spot-kick down the middle and past the keeper to complete the 3-0 victory. IN OPPOSITION TODAY ARNOLD TOWN The roots of Arnold Town can be traced back to the 1920s but as far as the current "Eagles" are concerned our history begins with the 1989/90 season when Arnold FC (The Saints) merged with near neighbours Arnold Kingswell. The newly formed club began life with four seasons in the Central Midlands Supreme Division before leaving as champions (1992/93) followed immediately by another Championship season in the NCEL Division One (1993/94). Promotion to the NCEL Premier began a long 19 season spell in the same division for Arnold Town before they opted for the more localised East Midlands Counties League (commencing 2013/14) rather than accept relegation back to the NCEL Division One. Aside from two Championship seasons and a runners-up finish in the NCEL Premier (1994/95) the Eagles have also enjoyed a good deal of Cup success along the way. Arnold's best FA Cup run came in 2002/03 when the Eagles reached the 4th Qualifying Round losing 0-2 to Scarborough at our former Gedling Road ground in front of 900 spectators. In the FA Vase we have twice made it to the 5th Round Proper in 2001/02 & 2005/06 bowing out to Wroxham and Crook Town respectively. Away from the National Competitions the Eagles have also lifted the Notts Senior Cup on five occasions (most recently in 2004/05 beating Eastwood Town 1-0 at Meadow Lane in front of a crowd of over 650) The NCEL Presidents Cup in 1994/95 and the CML Wakefield Cup in 1989/90. Arnold Town have been fortunate to maintain close links with the professional game throughout the club's twenty six year history. Former players have progressed directly from wearing an Arnold shirt to making a name for themselves at the higher level with Chris Freestone (1994) and Ben Hutchinson (2006) signing for Middlesbrough and Tristram Whitman (2000) moving to Doncaster Rovers to commence a professional career. At the same time the list of 500+ Arnold Town players over the years has been littered with the names of former professionals stepping down to help out at the non-league level. The list includes Bryn Gunn and Brett Williams (Forest) plus Mark Goodwin, Adrian Thorpe and Seamus McDonagh of Notts County not forgetting Martin Carruthers who, in addition to playing over 100 games for the club, also co-managed the Eagles alongside the returning Chris Freestone who currently holds the record for most goals for Arnold Town with 119 to his name in 225 appearances. Other well known names to have managed the club over the years include Ray O'Brien, Iain McCullough, Bill Brindley and Phil Starbuck. Arnold Town and its predecessor had played at Gedling Road situated in the centre of the town since the 1950s but following a prolonged and rather messy tussle with the local council and residents association the club were inevitably forced to move out of the town. Arnold moved to their new Eagle Valley home playing their first game there on 21st January 2009; a 3-2 victory over Thackley with Craig Mitchell scoring the first ever goal at the new complex in front of a crowd of 238.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
