CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s FA VASE Game against Hucknall Town FC and may I extend a very warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Hucknall Town FC and hope you enjoy our hospitality and the game. Today witnesses the clubs first appearance in the 1st round proper of the FA VASE and it’s a proud day for all concerned with the club and one that I hope will see us progress in this competition. The teams’ league form goes out the window today and let’s hope that the players can find their winning ways again. I am sure the management team of Miles and Andy have been frustrated since the start of the season as too many players are making themselves un available for various reasons (some too poor to mention) and this has meant them failing to field a consistent team of players that can learn, trust and deliver what is expected of them and apply it as a team. If you are to ever win anything it must be as a team and not individuals. We have a growing squad of players but we need a settled team now and whilst we have some players with lots of ability it goes un-noticed or wasted if they do not play regularly or indeed apply that ability to the team ethic. We are still only just into the season and so far we have created some memorable experiences such as the run in the FA CUP and playing in front of a crowd of over 800 and this, I would hope, should inspire the players to want more of that and only they can answer that question. As a club we try and provide the best experience possible for our players to enjoy and it can be frustrating at times when some, seemingly lack the commitment required to push us forward on the field. I understand people have other commitments and that this season is going to be a 50 game season but we all knew that at the start of the season. On a more positive note the team has been nominated for SENIOR TEAM OF THE YEAR at the North West Leicestershire Sports Awards to be held in November and this is alongside a further nomination for SENIOR VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR which Ian Irving has been nominated for so lets hope we can pick up our first awards of the year in November and well deserved they will be too. The next few weeks sees a packed calendar of fixtures starting next week with 3 home games, all cup games featuring the first team in the County Challenge Cup on Tuesday, The reserves in the Senior Cup on Wednesday and the Under 18’s in the County Cup on Thursday so please come and show your support to all 3 teams if you can. All that remains is to wish the team good luck for today’s match and hope we are all in for an entertaining afternoon of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Hucknall Town. Today’s game in the 1st Round “Proper”of the FA Vase gives us a welcome break from our dismal League form and hopefully we can re-invigorate ourselves with an inspired performance that will kick start our season. The FA Vase provides clubs at our level with their most realistic opportunity of stepping out on the hallowed Wembley turf. Three seasons ago St Andrew’s who visit the NFU this Tuesday in the Westerby Cup reached the semi-final stage only to narrowly bow out to Northern League outfit West Auckland Town 1-2 on aggregate. With the possibility of 9 rounds in order to reach the Final, the Vase can become a bit of an adventure as it evolves from the early regional stages into a competition that can see you playing anywhere in the four corners of the country with overnight stops and all that comes with that! Personally, I have never been past the last 16 but having played with and managed lads who have gone all the way and in some cases scored in the final at Wembley, there should be a fierce motivation and desire in everyone at the Club to do well in this competition. Our opponents today ply their trade in the Central Midlands League and have started the season strongly being undefeated to date. As we all know from our good start last season momentum is a factor that can produce positive results when maybe your performances don’t warrant a win so we can expect our toughest game to date. Let’s “hope” we can turn the corner on the form of the last few weeks and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. ASHBY IVANHOE
EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER 2016 _______________________________________________________________________________________ ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Luke Hemingway, Evan Cawley, George Wesley, Jack Robinson, Tom Rowell, Sam Johnson, Josh Riley, Joel Carta, Kerr Horn, Luke Thorogood, Ben Betteridge SUBSTITUTES USED: Chris Waldrum GOALS: Joel Carta (19), Kerr Horn (23), Luke Thorogood (90) ATTENDANCE: 80 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Ashby Ivanhoe lost further ground in the East Midlands Counties League as they suffered a third successive league defeat, this time at the hands of local rivals Stapenhill. Following a disappointing 2-0 home reverse against leaders Aylestone Park and a midweek 2-1 defeat against ten-man Kimberley Miners Welfare a trip to the league’s highest scorers saw another tough match in store and despite a good first half showing from Ashby the second half was well below par and Stapenhill duly took advantage to run out comfortable winners. The opening goal of the match came early on with Stapenhill taking the lead in the 11th minute when a ball into the area wasn’t dealt with by Ashby and a low shot from Tom Liversage beat keeper Luke Hemingway. Ashby responded really well though and in the 19th minute they were level when a free kick from Luke Thorogood was played into the area and at the back post a header from Joel Carta across goal found the net off the inside of the far post. It got better for the visitors just four minutes later when they moved in front when good play down the left resulted in Ben Betteridge delivering a pin-point cross into the area for Kerr Horn who powerfully headed home from close range to make it 2-1. Ashby continued to create the chances as the first half progressed when firstly a ball fell to Sam Johnson on the edge of the area and his thunderous shot had the beating of the keeper but unfortunately for Ashby the ball crashed against the bar and a follow-up effort from Betteridge forced the keeper to make a save low down to his right to turn the ball around the near post and the same player had another chance for Ashby just after the half hour mark but this time the shot from the edge of the area was deflected just wide. Just as it looked as if Ashby would go in at half time in front more poor defending resulted in a Stapenhill equaliser in the first minute of stoppage time. A poor defensive header led to an easy finish into an empty net for Liversage, his second of the match, and the teams went in at half time following an entertaining first half with the scores level at 2-2. The second half started slowly and it took until just past the hour mark before Ashby had a chance to retake the lead when Josh Riley did well to go past a couple of defenders before passing the ball to Thorogood and his shot was tipped over the bar by the keeper. 12

LATEST MATCH ACTION From that point on though there was only one team in the match and on 66 minutes Stapenhill edged in front when a ball wasn’t cleared and from the edge of the area a shot from Liversage on the turn found the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick and make it 3-2 to the home side. The final fifteen minutes saw plenty of goals and chances as the Swans comfortably saw out the match. On 76 minutes they increased their lead to 4-2 when Ashby lost possession in midfield and a shot from the corner of the area from Ashley Garner beat the dive of the keeper before finding the bottom corner. With ten minutes remaining Stapenhill had a hat-trick of chances to increase their lead further with the ball striking the post twice with the last one from close range when it seemed easier to score. They did make it 5-2 just a minute later when Ashby gave away a free kick close to the area and a shot from Liversage left everybody standing including the goalkeeper with the ball finding the top corner. The sixth and final Stapenhill goal came with three minutes remaining when a through ball found Lewis Campbell behind the defence and he made no mistake in slotting the ball past Hemingway to make it 6-2. The last action of the match saw Ashby pull a goal back in the final minute when the ball was worked towards the bye-line from Carta before he pulled the ball back to the near post and Thorogood was there to find the bottom corner and complete the scoring.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY HUCKNALL TOWN Hucknall Town FC is a family friendly community football club established as a colliery side in 1943. Hucknall Town was renamed in 1987 and rose up through the football pyramid. From 1999 to 2004 Hucknall Town FC played in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, winning the championship in the 2003-04 season. However as our Watnall Road stadium did not meet the then standards of the Football Conference we were refused promotion to the Conference National division. The club were due to be relegated from the Conference North to the Northern Premier League Premier Division following the 2007–08 season. This would have been the first relegation from any league in the club's history. However, Halifax Town's financial woes meant that they were reprieved. The club were eventually relegated at the end of the 2008–09 season. Relegation in 2010-11 season saw them drop into the NPL Division One South and further financial woes saw them relegated again, two levels in 2012-13 to Central Midlands League Division One South. The club is finally rebuilding and winning the CML League Cup and finishing 4th in the 2014-15 season is the beginnings of that process. ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
