Off the field…..

This season has seen the club make huge strides forward yet again with the erection of the floodlights and training lights, seated stand and covered stand. This is testament to the hard work and commitment of the people involved off the field and my personal thank you goes to Mark Pepper, Dave Buckley, Mick Buckley, Darren Wearmouth, Martin Smith, John Emmerson, Neil Johnson, Charlie Tissington Jnr, John Willars, Doug Kendrick. The work will continue over the summer months with the completion of the covered accommodation and the erection of the new 50 seater stand, so if you are at a loose end over the months of May/June then feel free to come and lend a hand to help us continue to improve the facilities at the club. The pitch works will start in May and June. I am sure that you will agree that the matchday programme this year has been fantastic and that’s down to Matthew Lester who puts hours in each week on the programme and the website – well done Matthew. A big thank you to Chloe in the Catering and Hospitality as she works hard on matchdays and does a great job.

On the field…..

As you know the club is on the look out for a new 1st team Manager and I have already received numerous applications/expressions of interest and will be holding interviews with selected candidates during the 1st week of May so keep your eyes on the website and social media for the announcement. The challenge for me is to ensure that we pick the right person to take us forward on the field, galvanise players at all levels, work with the existing management team and produce a winning side to move us out of the league. This season for some would be seen as a good season if we are to finish 6/7 in our first season in the EMCFL. However the mandate from me has always been to get out in the first season and I have to say that we had the players at this club to enable us to do that but they were not managed nor utilised in the right way and this, I believe, has been the main reason why we missed out on the opportunity to be promoted. The reserves are in prime position to win the league and credit to Craig, Paul and Andy for the work they have done this season and lets hope that they can keep the lads focussed in the remaining games and be great to see you all down here watching their final game next Saturday which could be the title decider. The Under 18’s have had a season of 2 halves and whilst I know Alex will be disappointed with not winning the league he should take credit for the number of players that have developed into senior players over the season and long may that continue. The Junior teams have done well this season too with league wins for our Under 11’s, 12’s Knights and Under 18’s. All in all the club continues to move forward and the work and effort everyone is putting in is evident to see. My big thank you goes to the club sponsors who have continued to support us again this season and we look forward to seeing you at the presentation night on the 16th May. Finally, I would like to personally thank all of our spectators that have watched us this season. The attendances have been fantastic and have seen us top of attendance league all season and I know it makes a big difference to the players when they see so many of you here to support them, a big thank you. All that remains is to thank you all again for your continued support and enjoy the final game. Stuart Bonser - Club Chairman

WORDS FROM THE SKIPPER - NEZ Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of today's match opponents Graham St Prims. Since our first meeting back in October there has been a few changes to the team and personnel. Our last meeting finished with a very hard fought 1-0 victory in very difficult conditions that extended an unbeaten run to 10 games. Unfortunately we have not since been able to put a run together like that, where by we now play our final game of the season out of the title run-in. I suppose with that in mind, today is a good day to reflect back and remind ourselves of what we have achieved in our inaugural season in the East Midlands Counties League. The development of the ground and facilities that we see here today are to be applauded and is a direct result of hard work and endeavour by some very committed members of the club. The development on the field should not be dismissed either, with the Reserves still in with a chance of winning the league. The Under 18's have also had an excellent season only just missing out on winning the league. And underneath all of that there is a very active junior section competing at a variety of age groups. Not forgetting that the 1st team has competed at its highest level of competitive football but despite that, I can't help but feel this season has been full of if's, but's and maybe's and I suppose that ultimately the table doesn't lie. I think what this season has done has further enhanced the profile of the club and only strengthened the dream and vision that this club has long term and that it is more than able to go and achieve its dreams! As many of you will be aware by now, Tony Hemmings stepped down as First Team Manager and so on a personal level it feels very strange having to prepare for a match by preparing programme notes and organising a squad of lads but under the circumstances that we find ourselves I was happy to embrace the situation given that we have a squad of quality individuals and the support and enthusiasm shown has been greatly appreciated. I know you will all show your support for Ashby today, so enjoy the game and I'll see you all in the bar for a pint after! Have a safe journey home from where you have travelled. Regards, Nez

RESERVE TEAM UPDATE ASHBY IVANHOE RESERVES 4 Gibson 3, Horn 5, Pollard 71,76

FC KHALSA GTB 0

Leicestershire Senior League Division One Saturday 18 April 2015 Ashby Ivanhoe Reserves continued their winning run to close the gap to league leaders Ingles to three points as visitors FC Khalsa GTB were defeated 4-0. Ashby made a great start to the match and were two up inside five minutes through Phil Gibson and Kerr Horn. Plenty of chances were created but it took a double from Ben Pollard late on to secure the points. The first goal of the match came on three minutes when with the ball heading out of play for a goal kick Kerr Horn got a foot to the ball to lift it back into the area and there was leading scorer Phil Gibson who rose highest to head home. Ashby doubled their advantage two minutes later when Jamie Fitzgerald battled for the ball close to the right touchline and with the ball running loose Andy Parry send the ball forward to Horn who despite being knocked off the ball inside the area he regained possession before sending a low shot across goal and into the bottom corner. The next half an hour saw Ashby continue to put pressure on the visiting defence but they were also misplacing passes which gifted possession to the opposition and despite some good passing forward from Khalsa their final ball was poor with Ashby managing to clear before the final ten minutes of the half saw good chances for both teams. On 36 minutes Ashby had a chance to add a third goal when a ball into the area found Horn who sent a powerful header goalwards and the keeper produced a fine save to tip the ball over the bar. The final two chances of the first half fell to the visitors but they were denied a goal by two fine saves from the Ashby keeper Chris Hodge. Firstly they managed to get through the Ashby defence before a low shot towards the near post was well saved down low to the keeper’s right and the second chance saw a powerful header destined for the net but at full stretch the ball was tipped over the bar leaving Ashby’s 2-0 lead intact at the break. Ashby started the second half the better side and they should have added a third on 50 minutes when Elliott Bott stormed through the Khalsa defence before lifting his shot over the keeper but the ball went narrowly wide of the post. Chances continued to be created by Ashby and on the hour mark Bott had another opportunity to score but a shot was again wide of the target and then a couple of minutes later a ball forward to the edge of the area was headed down for Dan Stevenson who strike a shot at goal and the keeper got down well to turn the ball behind. The match was finally put beyond Khalsa in the final twenty minutes as substitute Ben Pollard netted a couple. His first goal came on 71 minutes when the ball was passed forward and from inside the area his shot found the bottom corner and just five minutes later he added his second and Ashby’s fourth when he received the ball from Gibson’s back heel before stroking home beyond the keeper to complete a routine victory for Ashby. * Tuesday night saw the Reserves entertain Asfordby Amateurs and they returned to the top of the table on goal difference with a 3-1 victory with two goals from Phil Gibson with the third coming through Scott Cordy.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 The 2014/2015 saw Ashby Ivanhoe compete at step 6 of the non-league system for the first time in the clubs history after months of hard work by dedicated club members and a three way fight for the Leicestershire Senior League title in 2013/2014. The club could only finish third in the title race with the three teams only being separated by goal difference but it was enough for promotion into the East Midlands Counties League.

AUGUST

The season began with a home match against Radford, who would later go on to challenge at the top of the table, and Ashby couldn’t of hoped for a better start as a last minute winner from Luke Thorogood saw Ashby come from behind to secure a 2-1 victory and the first three points of the season in front of a strong opening crowd of 90. Radford took the lead in the first half before the same player scored in his own net to draw Ashby level and as the match entered stoppage time Thorogood netted the winner.

A week later saw a visit from a Bardon Hill side heavily tipped for the title but they couldn’t get the better of an Ashby side who maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-2 draw. Just like the opening match Ashby again found themselves behind but Phil Gibson levelled within 60 seconds before Tom Nolan put them in front in the second half. A stunning free kick ensured the points were shared.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 The following weekend was Bank Holiday and two away trips awaited with the first at Gedling Miners Welfare saw Ashby fall to their first defeat of the season 2-1 with Chris Saunders grabbing a consolation five minutes from time. Bank Holiday Monday was a total washout with poor weather and a poor performance seeing the local derby with Stapenhill end in the heaviest defeat of the season 5-0 with the manager describing it as ‘an absolute disaster’. They did respond in the final match of the month when Arnold Town were the visitors where a fine second half performance saw Ashby run out 5-1 winners with two goals apiece for Daniel Sharp and Luke Tozer and one from Chris Nettel with Ashby sitting firmly in mid-table.

SEPTEMBER

September started in disappointing fashion as visitors Borrowash Victoria took home all three points with a comfortable 3-0 victory before Ashby again quickly responded to defeat by recording a 2-0 victory over early strugglers Anstey Nomads. Ashby were the better side in the first half with goals from Thorogood and Sharp and despite Anstey having the better of the second half Ashby held onto their lead.

The following week they were on the road with a trip to Radcliffe Olympic and for the first time in the season they recorded two straight victories as a lone strike from Saunders gave them a 1-0 win. It was also Ashby’s first away victory of the season and they had to earn it as they had to dig deep in the second half to keep out their hosts. A tough match was then in store at the NFU as fellow promoted side and joint leaders South Normanton Athletic were the visitors but neither side could come out on top with the match ending in a 1-1 draw in a match with three penalties. Dan Stevenson put Ashby in front before they had a chance to double their lead from the penalty spot but their keeper made a save. South Normanton levelled shortly after and they had a chance to win the match themselves ten minutes from time but the third penalty of the match was put wide and Ashby remained in midtable at the end of the month. 14

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 Attention was then turned to the Leicestershire Senior Cup with a first round trip to Senior League side Caterpillar and Ashby comfortably secured their passage into the second round with a 3-0 victory with goals from Daniel Sharp (2) and Scott Cordy.

OCTOBER

October was the busiest month of the season for Ashby with a total of eight matches and they also started their rise up the table. It all started with an away trip to bottom of the table Greenwood Meadows who only had a solitary point to their name from ten matches but it took a Sam Carline strike just after the break to give Ashby the points with a 1-0 victory. There was then an entertaining start to the League Cup campaign as Ashby travelled to South Normanton Athletic and after falling 2-0 down inside 17 minutes Ashby recovered to force extra time with second half goals from Josh Lowe and a 91st minute strike from Chris Saunders. After again falling behind in extra time Ashby were level within a minute through Sharp before South Normanton had a chance to win the match in the final minute but a penalty save from Chris Hodge forced a replay. Next up was the return fixture against Bardon Hill and Ashby produced one of their best performances of the season to win 4-1. After a goalless first half Bardon took the lead five minutes into the second half but Ashby responded brilliantly and inside a nine minute spell two goals from Thorogood and another from Sharp turned the match around with an own goal in the final five minutes completing a miserable afternoon for Bardon. The goals continued to flow in the following match and Holwell Sports felt the full effect of a powerful Ivanhoe attacking unit when they found themselves 5-0 down after 30 minutes on their own patch with the unstoppable Sharp scoring three and Stevenson and Carline one apiece. Another goal each for Carline and Sharp in the second half completed a 7-0 victory as Ashby moved upto fifth. Aylestone Park were the next side to visit the NFU and first half goals from Lowe and Thorogood gave Ashby a 2-0 victory which saw another rise in the table to fourth and the following midweek Ashby made it five league wins in a row as a penalty from Phil Gibson after just six minutes saw Graham Street Prims defeated 1-0 and Ashby were now just two points off top spot in second place. The winning run was halted the following Saturday as Arnold Town avenged their defeat at the end of August with a 3-0 win before Ashby ended the month with a 1-1 draw at Anstey Nomads. Phil Gibson gave Ashby an early lead before Anstey piled on the pressure and levelled inside the final ten minutes. Ashby had collected 16 points from a possible 21 during the month to climb to third spot in the table.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 NOVEMBER

The start of November saw the second round of the Leicestershire Senior Cup and Senior League title challengers Sileby Town were the visitors to the NFU and a disappointing performance from Ashby saw the visitors into the third round with a 1-0 victory. Ashby were then without a match for two weeks and in that time the floodlights were transferred from Hood Park to the NFU in time for the top of the table clash against St Andrews on Saturday 15th November. It wasn’t going well for Ashby as they fell behind on five minutes and then two down just after the break but Ashby responded superbly and goals from Lowe, Stevenson and Thorogood inside a 15 minute spell turned the match around and defeated the side now challenging for the title. The match also saw the record attendance at the time of 102. The first full match under floodlights took place the following midweek when South Normanton Athletic were the visitors for the second time this season in the League Cup first round replay. There was to be no cup run for Ashby though as despite Saunders levelling the scores at 1-1 midway through the second half defensive errors led to a 3-1 defeat. Back to league action and another top of the table clash came at Holbrook Sports where the teams couldn’t be separated in a 1-1 draw with Lowe scoring Ashby’s goal. A visit from Kimberley Miners Welfare completed the month and two early wonder strikes from Saunders and James Purslow put Ashby in control and they comfortably held on to their advantage to record a 2-0 victory which saw them end the month in third spot and in a very promising position.

DECEMBER

After a fine run of form through October and November, December started badly for Ashby and for the first time in the season they suffered three straight defeats and all without finding the net themselves. First up was a midweek trip to fellow challengers Blaby & Whetstone Athletic where a goal in each half secured a 2-0 victory for the home side.

Next up, as football remembered the 1914 Christmas Truce, Barrow Town visited the NFU and took all three points with a 3-0 victory with the three goals coming in an eight minute spell either side of the break and it was the same scoreline a week later as Ashby travelled to the improving Radford. The final match before the festive period saw Ashby travel to Borrowash Victoria where goals from Chris Waldrum and James Fisher gave them a 2-1 victory to end the losing run. Weather forced the final match of the year to be postponed leaving Ashby at the turn of the year sitting in fourth place.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 JANUARY

Weather continued to play a part at the beginning of January with the league fixture at South Normanton falling foul to the conditions before Ashby blew away the cobwebs a week later when bottom of the table Greenwood Meadows were the visitors and Ashby cruised to their biggest win of the season. Saunders scored a first half hat-trick and further goals from Macauley Holmes and Josh Lowe gave Ashby a 5-1 half time lead. Thorogood made it 6-1 shortly after the break before goals in the final ten minutes from Tozer, Sharp and Callum McBride completed a 9-1 rout. The following week saw the return fixture at Kimberley Miners Welfare where McBride scored late on for the second match running to rescue a point for Ashby with a 1-1 draw in a match played in a mud-bath. Chris Hodge performed heroics in the second half to keep Ashby in the match before the late equaliser. The month ended in disappointing fashion as despite taking an early lead through Scott Cordy strugglers Radcliffe Olympic capitalised on a below par performance to turn the match around within twenty minutes before defending well in the second half to get themselves a much needed three points and leave Ashby in sixth place and ten points from leaders Blaby & Whetstone Athletic.

FEBRUARY

February began with a visit of the leaders Blaby & Whetstone Athletic and a tense game saw Ashby come out on top with Chris Saunders scoring the only goal inside the final ten minutes before tempers began to boil over and both sides finished with nine men as Ashby kept themselves in the title race while denting the hopes of Blaby.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 Ashby then when on another mini run of form and the next three matches all resulted in victories and all away from home. First up was a trip to Barrow Town and after defeat back in December it was Ashby’s turn to ease to victory as they dominated the game from start to finish and first half goals from McBride, Lowe and Thorogood saw Ashby into a 3-0 lead. McBride then added a second midway through the second half before Barrow grabbed a consolation in a 4-1 victory. A visit to second from bottom Aylestone Park was up next and Ashby capitalised on their defensive frailties by recording a 6-0 victory with all the goals coming in the second half. McBride continued his fine goalscoring form by grabbing a hat-trick with further goals from Cordy, Lowe and Tozer. Ashby then faced South Normanton Athletic for the fourth time for the re-arranged league fixture and it was Ashby who came out on top as an own goal gave them a half time lead before Saunders doubled the advantage in the second half. South Normanton scored a consolation five minutes from time but couldn’t force an equaliser with Ashby remaining in sixth place at the end of the month.

MARCH

As the season entered March there was just eight matches remaining and the month threw up some tough fixtures with a double header against Ellistown & Ibstock United and a trip to title challengers St Andrews but first up was a home match against a much improved Holwell Sports who Ashby had beaten 7-0 earlier in the season. It wasn’t a good day for Ashby this time though as the visitors avenged their heavy defeat by scoring two goals early in the second half for a 2-0 victory. The following week saw the home encounter with Ellistown & Ibstock United and in front of a season record crowd of 118 Ashby bounced back to winning ways in fine style to put a dent in the visitors title hopes by running out 3-0 winners. Josh Lowe had given Ashby an early lead inside the opening ten minutes before they had to hold firm defensively as Ellistown looked for a way back into the match but the match was put beyond doubt in the final five minutes with James Fisher and Scott Cordy capping off a fine performance with the third goal. There wasn’t much joy the following week though with the reverse fixture at Ellistown and they ran out 4-2 winners. Ashby found themselves 3-0 down before George Clamp pulled one back on the stroke of half time. It then became 4-1 early in the second half before a Jack Ryder penalty reduced the arrears but Ashby couldn’t force a way back into the match.

SEASON REVIEW 2014/2015 The final match of the month saw a visit to St Andrews and with the home side looking to push on at the top of the table Ashby were looking to hold onto a top six spot which they had occupied for the majority of the season but they fell behind midway through the first half. It remained 1-0 up until five minutes from time where St Andrews put the result beyond doubt with two late goals to complete a 3-0 victory.

APRIL

The final month of the season and Ashby were faced with four home matches and first up was an Easter weekend double header with Gedling Miners Welfare the first opponents. Ashby were finding goals hard to come by in recent matches and the visitors had no trouble as they comfortably won the match 2-0 with both goals coming in the first half. Easter Monday saw the local derby against Stapenhill and Ashby were out to avenge the 5-0 thrashing from back in August. The first half saw chances at a premium but the second half saw Ashby play some great football but they were denied numerous times by the Stapenhill keeper and strong shouts for a penalty were turned down in the closing stages which led to the first goalless draw of the season. The penultimate game of the season saw a visit from Holbrook Sports, who when the teams met back in November were challenging at the top of the table but they had since slipped down to sit 12th ahead of the game. Ashby had the better chances in the first half but they found themselves behind after a quarter of an hour and it stayed that way until the break. Ashby weren’t to be denied in the second half though and they turned the match around with Callum McBride levelling midway through the half before Jamie Smith scored the decisive goal in the 89th minute for a 2-1 victory. Today sees the final match in Ashby’s first season in the East Midlands Counties League as Graham Street Prims visit the NFU and a top seven finish is guaranteed. To finish at the top end of the table is a great achievement for the club and even though the chairman’s aim at the beginning of the season was to win the league it’s been a great first season with some memorable performances against some the top sides. Ashby have beaten all the sides above them at some stage this season and hopefully next season can see them challenging for the title and promotion to Step 5.

DOWN MEMORY LANE WITH MOG Well, well, well somebody once said that “a week is a long time in football” & this last week certainly has seemed that way. I’ll leave the obvious stuff to the Chairman & simply give you my thoughts on the season as we approach our final first team game this afternoon. Radford at home on 9th August certainly seems a long time ago and we started well with a 2-0 win over a team that will finish 3rd and then drew at home to the team that will probably win it, Bardon and went on to thrash them away from home too. In fact of the 6 teams that will finish above us we have beaten them all at least once, for me that sums up the frustration of the season overall. At times we have looked fantastic, Holwell away winning 7-0 but then losing to them at home? Whilst it’s only our first season at this level and on the face of it 7th is a solid start at Step 6 it could have been so much more. On to the positives of which there are many. We now have 17 teams representing Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club, isn’t that fantastic! The NFU Sports Ground has improved to be a superb football ground and the clubhouse a great place to be, the general vibe around the club is hugely positive and I look forward to a summer of fencing, digging, slabbing & holding Pep’s sonic screwdriver to make it even better for next year. Our crowds are superb, we are the best supported club in the league and the matchday “crack” is terrific. It’s great to see some of our older players returning to watch the teams in action too, it brings great continuity to what we are trying to achieve at the club. In closing I must pay tribute to 2 people. The achievements at the club could not happen without our Chairman Stuart Bonser, the amount of effort he puts in to the running of the club is simply amazing and on behalf of everyone at the club I would like to say thank you. Finally, to Matthew “Statto” Lester who puts this programme together I would also say thank you on behalf of everyone at the club and the ground hoppers of the nation. If there is a better programme at our level anywhere I haven’t seen it, congratulations on a job very well done mate. So that’s it, our first season in the East Midlands Counties League, good luck to the team today and a if you can please support Sav and the Reserves in their final games, what an achievement that would be if our Reserve team can win the league that our First team aspired to be in not so long ago, just shows how far we have come in recent years. Onwards & upwards, enjoy the summer. Dave Morris Club President

ASHBY IVANHOE FC SUPPORTERS CLUB A warm welcome to everyone here today for Ivanhoe’s East Midland Counties match against Graham St Prims here at the NFU Sports Ground. So here we are at last match of the season and although managerless I’m sure our temporary team mentors will want to end the season with a big win so come on lads lets go for it and my prediction is a 3-1 win for the lads. I’m sure that all our supporters wish Tony and Yogi all the best for the future but for the club it is onwards and upwards and it’s great to know that we have a great chairman in Stuart Bonser who I’m sure will certainly soon appoint a replacement team manager. THE OPPOSITION GRAHAM STREET PRIMS Graham Street Prims were originally founded in 1904, being formed from a primitive Methodist Church from which they derived the name “Prims”. Graham Street itself is actually situated off Osmaston Road in the city of Derby and is close to the Baseball Ground, former home of Derby County until they moved to their new home at Pride Park. Prims were disbanded in 1914 due to the outbreak of the first world war but in the ten year period until that time they boasted several players who went on to play league football, these included the Keetley brothers and Jimmy Bagshaw who eventually went on to play for Notts County and England. Prims were reformed in 1953 and achieved many honours, mainly in the Central Alliance, The East Midlands League and the Derbyshire Senior League. The finest years came between 1971 and 1981 when they won no less than fifteen major honours including seven Derbyshire FA Cup wins and eight League titles. In 1991 Prims were again disbanded due to not having a suitable ground of the required league standard but in 1995 were reformed through a merger with Derby Carriage & Wagon FC. Since reforming, they have been semi-finalists in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, beating Matlock Town on the way and losing to Belper Town 2-0 in the semi final. They gained promotion from the Premier Division of the Central Midlands League to the Supreme Division, finishing fifth in their first season in the higher division. After suffering four years of continual vandalism at the Railway Ground in Longbridge Lane, Derby and having been relegated for not having floodlights, the club was on the verge of folding once more. But a determined committee met with officials from Borrowash Victoria FC at the Asterdale Sports and Social Club in Spondon and owners of the land, The Heritage Pub Company as a result, a pitch and the promise of a lease was offered. Prims committee met with Officials from the Central Midlands League, led by Mr Frank Harwood, they gave the go-ahead to our new home and work soon started on the ground. New post & rail was erected and new pitch drainage was installed. Re-seeding and verti draining of the pitch has also took place as well as a complete conversion of the old “Band Hut” into a dressing room complex and hospitality suite. Installation of a 2 metre high fence around the perimeter of the pitch with floodlights installed and the siting of a portacabin to provide refreshments for spectators as well as separate toilets also being completed. Raising the money for this operation, which has taken place over a number of years was a mammoth task with fund raising, loans and grants being obtained, this resulted in the club paying out around £90-100K. In 2008 the Asterdale club closed, this brought about a spate of vandalism, which cost Prims a great deal of time and money which they could ill afford, repairing roof’s, replacing glass and removing graffiti etc. Eventually new buyers for the sight were found. The new owners, ROSCOM decided they would knock down the old club to build an office block and also promised new facilities for Prims, this is still the aim but an agreement between Roscom and the City Council over the planning application has still to be agreed. The new owner has assured us that they are very keen to keep sport going at the ground and after meeting with them our future looks bright, meanwhile negotiations for a long term lease are ongoing

AIFC vs Graham Street Prims|Saturday 25th April 2015| www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

THE OPPOSITION On the playing side season 2008-2009 saw a new league formed for the East Midlands at step six in the FA Pyramid system, teams primarily from the Central Midlands League, Leicester Senior League and the Notts Alliance was formed with Prims among the teams competing as founder members. We were also joined by our near neighbours, Borrowash Victoria, who left the Northern Counties (East) League to join the East Midlands Counties, ensuring two excellent local derbies in prospect. Our Reserves were placed in the new Central Midlands Supreme Reserve League with our under 18’s side competing in the Derby City League. Wayne Harvey Toon remains as Club Chairman and Ray Garlick has agreed to sponsor maintenance of the ground for three years, resulting in our ground being known as the RAYGAR ARENA. Since the highly successful seasons of the 70’s and 80’s progress has been somewhat steady, to say the least, this has been mainly due to us competing with other local sides who are in a position to offer incentives to players, where we are clearly in no position to offer any form of payment. This inability to attract players seeking some form of remuneration caused Prims another problem with managers, resulting in us having EIGHT managers over a period of eighteen years. Most of the managers over this period had played for Prims at some time and like the rest of the Managers, found difficulty recruiting good quality players. In 2009 Prims appointed Mick Rodgers (who had been very successful with Vics), however he too suffered from the same problem as previous managers and resigned half way through the season. Prims committee were again forced to advertise in the local press and through various local league websites and after interviewing three candidates, Mark Webster was appointed in December 2009 with the task of keeping Prims in the EMCL. Mark had been very successful with Holbrook MW (now Holbrook Sports), another of Prims local rivals, bringing a wealth of experience he set about his task of bringing some stability to the club. He brought with him Mick Bentley (who had been with Prims previously) and was joined by Tony Collins and Mark Harris who brought their own young Chellaston team to form the nucleus of the Reserves. Because of Prims inability to pay players Mark’s aim was to concentrate mainly on youth. In the 2011-2012 season Ian McAndrew joined Prims from Mickleover Sports as Mark’s assistant. Mark demanded loyalty from everyone at the club including the committee and last season saw his efforts bear fruit with the 1st team reaching the final of the league cup and finishing eighth in the league. The reserves reaching the semi-final of the DFA Divisional Cup and finishing fifth in their league and the Youth team finishing runners-up in the Derby City Under 18 League. The club now enjoys a welcome return to the days of the “Community Spirit” which must go down to the discipline Mark has instilled in his players. He has not been frightened to bring young players into the first team, and has brought about a very optimistic future for the club. The 2013-2014 season sees a new club structure launched and designed by Tony Collins to bring a more professional look to the committee and throughout the club. With everyone pulling in the right direction and if we can get the dressing room plans sorted the outlook for the club is very bright indeed. This season Prims will be competing in the FA Cup for the first time in their history as well as the FA Vase.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of three adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Two. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 20092010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One.
