I hope that you all had a great Christmas with your family and friends and thank you for coming out for a bit of fresh air to support the team on their first outing on Boxing Day. These notes were written ahead of the Holbrook game but on the back end of another win against Radcliffe Olympic. The game was in doubt due to the weather we had been experiencing and with a lot of hard work leading upto the game from our committed volunteers, we managed to get the game on and help the team maintain their run in the league and they paid the team off the field back with a convincing win. As I have said too many times before, a club is at its strongest when the team off the field and the team on the field are parallel with their commitment to move forward and so far so good. The club signed its newest and first paid for asset before Christmas and comes with the full backing of the Management Team, Coaching Staff, the FA, County FA and has a phenomenal track record on the pitch. It has speeds beyond what we have witnessed before, it has power that will be the envy of other clubs, it has movements that will leave spectators and visiting teams gobsmacked with technique and performance all over the pitch, it has a four pronged attack which will be a real spectacle to see and even wears the clubs official colours of our goalkeeper jersey, Orange. I am of course talking about the new tractor and associated grounds machinery that was delivered just before Christmas and this will transform the way we maintain our pitches and training areas for years to come and it comes with the added bonus of a key to start it (rather than having to jump start the old yellow mower). In addition to the new grounds maintenance machinery, the club will be taking delivery and erecting the new 50 seater stand by the end of January. This will take the combined investment to over £47,000 and will aid the club in its desire to not only play at the next level with the required ground grading but to provide one of the best pitches for the team to play on. The next fixture for you to enjoy here is on Monday with the reserves playing host to Barlestone St Giles – 3pm Kick Off. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good afternoon of football. Happy New Year to you all too. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps – if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome and Seasonal Greetings on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Kimberley Miners Welfare. Sincere apologise to the supporters who travelled over to Blaby to witness our League Cup exit which was largely down to what can only be described as a shambolic and embarrassing first half performance which belied all the good work and application the players had shown in previous weeks. Everyone was fully briefed prior to the game of what to expect but unfortunately we failed to deal with a highly committed opponent playing down a slope with a point to prove. In that first half we lacked individual belief and collectively were not prepared to dig in for each other to ride the storm. The most positive thing about that first half was we only went in at the interval two goals down. We improved in the second half to pull a goal back but in all honesty deserved nothing from the game. Players are deluded if they think they can show that level of application and attitude and expect anything positive from the game. A night to learn lessons’ and move on quickly. In contrast our last home game against Radcliffe saw a positive performance against dogged opposition and very much like the Stapenhill game we needed to be patient after missing some good chances early on in the game. Again set plays seemed the main threat from the opposition but we managed to break the deadlock 65 minutes in and never looked back from that point. Again encouragingly the lads who came off the bench made a real positive impact and drove us on as we got stronger as the game opened up. The attitude and application was in stark contrast to the Blaby game which is all credit to the players. Once again a little more composure in front of goal particularly early on could have seen us win by a much healthier margin but as an ex-defender a fifth consecutive clean sheet in the league was the most pleasing aspect of the performance. Games over the festive period can throw up some funny results with availability issues and the odd bout of over indulgence but hopefully we can continue the improvement of the last few weeks (notes written prior to the Holbrook game so fingers crossed there). Our opponents today have had new management since our last encounter back in sun drenched August and we are under no illusions, today’s encounter will be a far closer affair than that was. It’s time to push on and build on those clean sheets giving us the foundation to provide an entertaining display with the desired outcome. Without repeating myself again, to date results have been better than performances which will only take us so far but not ultimately to where we want to be. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Regards Miles Warriner First Team Management Team

MATCH ACTION VS STAPENHILL ASHBY IVANHOE 4-0 RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC EAST MIDLANDS COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE SATURDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2015

Ashby Ivanhoe took full advantage of the chasing pack being without league match to defeat visitors Radcliffe Olympic and stretch their lead at the top of the table to 12 points. Despite the scoreline it took until the final quarter of the match for Ashby to open the scoring though Danny Quinn with Luke Thorogood quickly doubling the advantage. Chris Saunders then added a third with ten minutes remaining before Tom Rowell headed home to complete the scoring three minutes into stoppage time. The match started with Ashby quickly on the front foot and they almost took the lead with just over a minute on the clock when a cross from the right from Antonio Williams found Quinn inside the area and his powerful header produced a fine save by the Radcliffe keeper to tip the ball over the bar. Although Ashby offered the greater attacking threat the next real goal-scoring chance didn’t come until ten minutes before the half time interval and it was the visiting keeper who came to their rescue again to keep the match goalless when a long range effort from Luke Thorogood was destined for the net only for the keeper to tip the ball around the post. The second half saw Ashby continue to be the more attacking and on 52 minutes they went close to opening the scoring when a ball into the area was headed goalwards by Quinn and with the keeper stranded the ball struck the outside of the post before he had another chance two minutes later when a defender failed to intercept the pass but the shot from a difficult angle was over the bar. After a small spell of pressure from Radcliffe where they had a succession of corners Ashby finally made the breakthrough in the 65th minute when a ball forward found Quinn inside the area and he was left with just the keeper to beat and he made no mistake with a shot finding the bottom corner and the advantage was quickly doubled just four minutes later when the ball came to Thorogood and he fired his shot across goal and beyond the keeper for 2-0. Ashby increased their lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute when the ball was passed through for Scott Cordy and instead of having a shot at goal he saw substitute Chris Saunders unmarked coming in from the left side and he passed the ball across and Saunders finished well with a shot into the corner. The scoring was completed three minutes into stoppage time when a high ball into the area saw centre back Tom Rowell send a header goalwards and despite the attempts from the Radcliffe defender to clear the ball off the line the assistant referee was well placed to awarded Ashby their fourth goal and complete another fine victory. The result sees Ashby reach a half century of points from 20 matches and they are 12 points clear of nearest challengers St Andrews who have three games in hand. IN OPPOSITION TODAY KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club was formed in 1926, one year after the opening of the Miners Welfare. The early years were spent playing at the Mill Field, approx ½ mile North of Digby Street. In 1932 Kimberley MW moved to the new recreation ground, Digby Street, situated adjacent to Digby Colliery and its cricket ground. Initially, Digby Street was solely a playing field with teams changing in Tommy Bird’s (pronounced Tommy Bod’s, in the local dialect) front room. It was a lengthy walk, for players and officials to Digby Street, because Tommy lived in a house supplied for workers, on site, at the Giltbrook Leather Works. In the late 1950s, changing facilities moved, to the Miners Welfare Bowling Alley underneath the building, which meant an even longer walk for players and officials. Kimberley MW have played at Digby Street for 81 years but, it hasn’t been continuous. The club played at the Wolsey Sports Ground for one season, 1974/75 (situated where Sainsbury’s Car Park now is, in Kimberley Town Centre), because the construction of the new A610 Eastwood & Kimberley Bypass took away part of the ground and made it unusable. 1982 was a key year in the history of the club as the present chairman Neil Johnson took on the role of chairman from his father. It wasn’t until the 1995/6 season that changing facilities were provided on the ground. A £7,500 grant from the National Lottery, and an equivalent generous donation from Chairman Neil Johnson, enabled the club to buy, transport and erect, the unwanted changing rooms from Calverton Cricket Club. This was around the time of the clubs most successful period on the pitch under the leadership of Paul Horry Kimberley won all 4 trophies available to them. Paul Horry left and was replaced on a caretaker basis by Steve Hobster. Don Munn took charger before the appointment of George Hulley. The joint management of Alf Stacey & Steve Towle took charge in the early 2000s. The pair resigned a few years later when Kimberley then turned back to George Hulley who remained in charge until 2014 being replaced by present manager Paul Rawden. In 2012 Kimberley MW were given use of The Stag Ground former home of the defunct Kimberley Town and the task of restoring the ground with the superb relationship of Kimberley Town Council is well underway with hundreds of man hours put in the town of Kimberley finally have a Step 6 club and ground to be proud of. The clubs record crowd was 389 in a Notts Senior League game against Keyworth United in April 2012 at Digby Street. The record crowd at The Stag Ground for a Welfare game is 116. In September 2015 Paul Rawden stood down from his position as First Team Manager after a disappointing start to the season. The club acted quickly to install ex professional Tony Hemmings as new manager. The clubs ultimate aim is of FA Cup Football for the 2016/17 season for the first time in the clubs history and first time the town of Kimberley has seen it in over 20 years. ASHBY IVANHOE FC SUPPORTERS CLUB A warm welcome to everyone here for today’s 1st team Boxing Day East Midlands Counties League match at the NFU Sports Ground against Kimberley Miners Welfare. First of all I hope you all had a good Christmas and it’s nice to see you all here where at least we can blow off a few cobwebs and enjoy the match. The last home game against Radcliffe Olympic after a slow start ended in a 4-0 victory to maintain our league topping position. Well done Miles, the players and his team. So to today’s match against Kimberley Miners Welfare who have P20 W7 D3 L10 record and as I write this report currently 11th in the league and who I’m sure will provide tough opposition especially as they return with former manager Tony Hemmings in charge and after beating them 6-0 earlier in the season at their place I still expect a hard fought match but hopefully a win for our lads and my prediction is a 3-1 win for Ivanhoe. May I take this opportunity to once again to thank you for your support and wish you all a very Happy New Year Mick Buckley Supporters Club Chairman

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
