CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Arnold Town FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Arnold Town FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. The team have showed a real positive start under Lee and Steve and have played some very good football and I am sure that will continue into this game too. The style of play that Steve and Lee want the team to play was highlighted at a players meeting a week ago and I must say it was refreshing to the message that was being given to the players and their response was really positive. The new players that have been brought in have made an immediate impact too and this has already paid dividends to our existing players who have stepped up their game too which is really pleasing to see. The games will start to come in thick and fast now and come the turn of the New Year we will hopefully have moved up the league and be challenging in the League Cup. Huge thanks goes again to Ian Irving who has been working tirelessly on the pitch this week since the heavy rain on Monday and let’s hope the players repay Ian with a win today. I would like to thank all of our supporters for your continued support of the team both home and away. It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you watching the team and I know that the players are very appreciative too as there’s nothing better than having great support encouraging you from the sidelines. The club remains top of the attendance league and let’s hope that the team maintain their winning ways and that we start to increase our attendance average to over 100. All that remains is to wish our players well today and hope we all are in for a good game. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Managers Talk Good afternoon and welcome to NFU sports ground for this afternoon’s league game against Arnold town FC. We would like to welcome all those connected with Arnold Town and hope you have a safe journey home. Well we are only two games in to our new tender as managers at Ashby and have had a good start winning both games, first was the home win against Gedling MW on that very foggy Tuesday evening, we started very brightly and controlled the game from start to finish eventually winning 7-1 with some excellent finishing, the goals coming from Evan Cawley, new boy’s Danny and Luke Edwards and a hattrick from Luke Thorogood. Last Saturday saw us on our travels to Belper Utd who had just lost their manager, these games in that situation are always tricky, and the host started well and in the first 20 minutes put us under pressure. We coped well and from then got into our rhythm and played some great football coming away with the 3 points in a 5-1 win with Goals from Luke Edwards and another hat-trick from Luke Thorogood. The lads are really taking on board on what we want to get across in terms of how we want to play which is very encouraging - “keep it going lads!!” Today’s game is going to be a hard one, as Arnold have been doing well. To our supporters, we would like to say thank you- this really helps the lads. Enjoy the game. Steve and Lee

IN OPPOSITION TODAY ARNOLD TOWN Football has been played in the Arnold area for over a hundred years and the Eagles can trace their proud history back to its beginnings. The current club, formed in 1989, was born out of the merger between the old established Arnold FC (who began life as Arnold St Mary’s in 1928) and near neighbours Arnold Kingswell. Initially the newly formed club competed in the Central Midlands League (Supreme Division) and then moved into the NCEL Division One and then swiftly to the NCEL Premier after two successive Championship seasons in 92/93 and 93/94. On a roll, the Eagles almost made it three in a row but ended 94/95 as runners up in the NCEL Premier. Since those heady days, however, the Club’s best ever league finish has been 5th (05/06). Throughout that time the Club has grown and developed into what it is today. The Eagles have long aspired to play at the highest level possible and aspire to enter the Unibond League at the first opportunity and over the years has succeeded on a variety of fronts. The Eagles have managed to lift the prestigious Notts Senior Cup trophy no less than five times since 1989 and have been runners up once. The most recent success came in 2005 when spectacular long range effort from Scott Huckerby was enough to give the Eagles a 1-0 victory over Eastwood Town in front of a crowd of more than 650 at Notts County’s Meadow Lane ground. A number of fine runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase have also been achieved over the years. In 2002 the Eagles had their best run in the FA Cup since reforming when they reached the 4th Qualifying Round before narrowly going out to Scarborough in front of 900 at Gedling Road. During the 05/06 season the Club equalled their best FA Vase performance by reaching the 5th Round where they lost out by a single goal to Crook Town, again at Gedling Road, in front of 560 spectators. They had earlier reached the same stage in 01/02 going out 1-3 at Wroxham. The 2007-08 season saw the curtain finally come down at the Club’s Gedling Road ground which had been their home for over fifty years. The move to their new ground – Eagle Valley – was the result of huge amounts of hard work, negotiations, planning and fund raising by Club officials, supporters, the local community and friends. It fulfilled a long held dream for the club to provide the best facilities for the local area and community and be a facility that would meet the Club’s aspirations for football at the highest level. The Eagles finally moved into their new £2 million home in January 2009. A real strength for the Club has been the strong fan base and the support provided by the Supporters Club (now in their 20th year). This helps to ensure a very commendable away following, a firm home gate and much financial support helping the Club to maintain its position in the football pyramid and fulfil the Club’s desire for continual improvement. The Club has consistently maintained links with the professional game. Chris Freestone (Middlesbrough - 1994) Tristram Whitman (Doncaster Rovers - 2000) and most recently (2006) Ben Hutchinson (Middlesbrough) all moved from the Arnold team into the professional ranks. Chris Freestone returned to us in 2005/06 and now at 100 goals for the club has just equalled the all time record goal scorer Peter Fletcher who notched up exactly 100 goals for Arnold Town between October 1992 and October 1996. Freestone, together with Martin Caruthers, took over the management reigns midway through season 2009-2010. League background and experience has also been a factor in Arnold management. Former Eagles managers include Ray O’Brien (Notts. County & Rep. of Ireland) and Iain McCullough (Notts. County), Bill Brindley (Notts. County and Forest) and Phil Starbuck (Forest). The Club are now well established at their new home. The complex, officially opened by Sven Goran Eriksson in Oct. 2009, provides playing, coaching and social facilities for upwards of 40 teams from the Arnold area. As well as three senior sides there are also numerous junior teams (girls and boys) plus ladies and veteran sides. The first class facilities continue to provide the springboard for Arnold to fulfil their long held ambition to climb the non league pyramid but equally importantly to be an asset to the sporting community and young people of the wider Arnold area.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
