CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s match against our visitors Anstey Nomads FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Anstey Nomads FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. It is with regret that I open my notes today with the announcement that Miles Warriner and Andy Gray have left the club as First Team Manager and Assistant. Whilst disappointing we must now move forward and I am confident that with the club we have today that we will have no problem in attracting a lot of interest as Ashby Ivanhoe FC is now on the map and I will, of course keep you all posted via the various Social Media outlets. The news of Miles and Andy’s departure should be followed with thanks for the time, effort and commitment they have both shown since taking charge at the beginning of Season 2015/16. It isn’t often that people actually get to see the time and commitment that is put in to attract, retain, coach and develop players as well as chase them to turn up for games and I must say that both Miles and Andy have given their all in that department and either of them very rarely missing training or games and Miles even travelled back from a family holiday in Scotland to a game and then driving back again, so no one can ever question their commitment to the club and the players. During their time they have also achieved success in the following way: Highest ever league finish in the EMCFL which gave us qualification into the FA CUP for the first time ever, taking us to the first round of the FA VASE for the first time in the clubs history and who can forget taking us to the 1st round qualifier of the FA CUP and the fantastic experience that the 3 games brought the club and the visit of the FA CUP and a crowd of over 700 at the Ilkeston game. Having known Miles and Andy for a long time they may feel that they didn’t achieve anything whilst at the club but for those that know real football it isn’t always about silverware its about structure, foundation, commitment, professionalism and sustainability and they both can be proud of that achievement and I can only thank them for the way they both went about the role and the time and effort they put in. As I said earlier, Ashby Ivanhoe FC is now on the map and I have already received numerous calls from interested parties for the vacant job and it is my job now to re-establish what Ashby Ivanhoe FC is about and to ensure that the structure of developing players, progressing them into the first team continues and that all players understand that when you sign for Ashby Ivanhoe FC you are making a commitment to our philosophy as a club and not have players that “pick and choose” when to make themselves available which compromises the whole dynamic. We have a lot to offer as a club and the right replacement will need to fit in to our way whilst having the experience and drive to move the club forward as a collective and not one team. The next few games will see the team being picked by our Club Captain Sam Johnson with support from other Senior players so please be supportive over this transition period and get behind the team as you always do. All that remains is to wish Miles and Andy well in the future and to thank you all for your continued support of the team both home and away. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Anstey Nomads. Last Saturday many of you would have witnessed a thrilling FA Vase tie against Hucknall Town which unfortunately we were on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat after extra time. As in the previous round against Stone we left it very late before forcing extra time with Danny Quinn and Antonio Williams netting stoppage time goals but we failed to build on that in extra time with Hucknall advancing to the next round. Then on Tuesday evening we welcomed St Andrews to the NFU Sports Ground for the first round of the Leicestershire Challenge Cup and again many of you saw another high scoring thriller which somehow we lost 5-4. Being 2-0 up at half time against last season’s East Midlands Counties League champions who were then reduced to ten men just after half time left Ashby in a commanding position but within seven minutes that lead had been wiped out with the visitors going in front. Ashby did respond well though and turned the match back in their favour to lead 4-3 only to let in two more goals in the closing stages to exit the competition at the first hurdle. A disappointing result especially as the final is held at the King Power Stadium. A full match report will be in Tuesday night’s programme. Wednesday night saw progress for the Reserve team in the Leicestershire Senior Cup although they had to do it via extra time. They were 1-0 down against Allexton & New Parks before Aaron Windram levelled in the final minutes before Michael Ellis scored the winner in extra time to complete a 2-1 victory. This now sees the team into the Quarter Finals with the draw yet to take place. East Midlands Counties League Cup A week last Wednesday the first team travelled to Holbrook Sports in the first round of the League Cup and they progressed through to the second round following a 4-1 victory. The game was won inside the first 45 minutes with goals from Dan Stevenson (2), Danny Quinn and Sam Kirk putting Ashby 4-0 up before Holbrook scored a late consolation. The draw for the second round has given us a home tie against Holwell Sports with the match scheduled to take place on Tuesday 22nd November, 7:45pm kick off. Thank you again for your support and let’s hope we all enjoy today’s match. Matthew Lester Programme Editor FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

AFTER EXTRA TIME, 3-3 AFTER 90 MINUTES THE BUILDBASE FA VASE 1ST ROUND SATURDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2016 _______________________________________________________________________________________ ASHBY IVANHOE LINE-UP: Chris Hodge, Ali Abdillahi, Evan Cawley, Chris Nettel, Tom Rowell, Sam Johnson, Sam Kirk, Joel Carta, Danny Quinn, Kerr Horn, Ben Betteridge SUBSTITUTES USED: Josh Riley, Nick Sewell, Antonio Williams GOALS: Danny Quinn (75p, 90+3), Antonio Williams (90+5) ATTENDANCE: 121 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Ashby Ivanhoe produced a heroic last ditch comeback before falling to an extra time defeat against Central Midlands League side Hucknall Town in the 1st Round of the Buildbase FA Vase. Ashby trailed 3-1 heading into stoppage time before goals from Danny Quinn and Antonio Williams forced an extra 30 minutes. A well worked goal in extra time though gave the visitors the victory and a place in the second round. It was the first time that Ashby have ever played in the first round of the FA Vase and in the opening 20 minutes they looked the most threatening with really troubling the Hucknall goalkeeper with the best effort of the opening exchanges coming for the visitors when a snap shot from around 30 yards was just wide of the far post. The opening goal of the game came on 19 minutes and it was unfortunate for the home side following their good start but after keeper Chris Hodge had made a save the ball spun upwards and towards goal and Hucknall’s Adam Nelson beat the Ivanhoe defender to the ball to head home from close range. As a deluge hit the NFU Sports Ground the visitors doubled their advantage just six minutes later when poor defending resulted in a player advancing to the bye-line before pulling the ball back into the area and a shot from Jamie Crawford found the net for 2-0. Ashby had a great chance to reduce the deficit just after the half hour mark when a cross from the right found its way to the back post but the shot from close range was blocked and a couple of minutes later and Hucknall went close to increasing their lead when they broke forward and after the ball was played square the shot struck the outside of the post leaving the score at 2-0 at the break. The start of the second half saw a couple of chances for Ashby inside the first 15 minutes with firstly a floated effort at goal from Sam Kirk was just wide of the near post before right back Ali Abdillahi found himself inside the area and sent a shot goalwards which forced the Hucknall keeper into good save. With the clock ticking down Ashby needed a goal quickly and on 75 minutes they were awarded a penalty. It came from a good move forward which saw a ball passed through the defence for substitute Josh Riley to run onto and although his lobbed effort went over the bar the referee pointed to the spot as he was brought down by the goalkeeper. Upstepped Danny Quinn to power his spot-kick down the middle and make it 2-1 and set up an intriguing final quarter of an hour.

LATEST MATCH ACTION The final thing Ashby needed though having got back into the match was to concede quickly and that is what they did when they failed to deal with a ball to the back post and the ball was pulled back for Jordan Phillips to apply the finish and restore their two goal advantage. Nobody inside the NFU Sports Ground expected what was to happen inside the final minutes though and as the match entered stoppage time it looked all over for Ashby, trailing 3-1, but in the third minute the ball struck the bar and Quinn was there to head home and make it 3-2. Ashby then immediately pushed forward from the restart and won a free kick close to the right touchline. Before the kick was taken they made their final substitution bringing on Antonio Williams to add some height inside the area. The ball into the box wasn’t dealt with by the visitors and the ball fell to Williams and he struck a first time effort which found the bottom corner of the net sending the home fans wild and leaving the Hucknall players and supporters stunned. The referee blew the final whistle seconds later to end a thrilling 90 minutes with the teams locked at 3-3. It wasn’t to be for Ashby though in extra time and just before the end of the first period they fell behind again when a free kick from half way was hit long into the area and at the back post the ball was headed back into the danger area for Adam Nelson to fire home first time for his second goal of the match and put Hucknall 4-3 up. There was to be no more late heroics from Ashby with Hucknall advancing through to the next round.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC SUPPORTERS CLUB THE OPPOSITION A very warm welcome to everybody here at the NFU Sports Ground for this afternoon’s home league STAPENHILL match against Anstey Nomads.
They were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning Division Onedo championship in the following two seasons. Theynoremained in that on After watching the last few the games I could with another holiday in Tenerife but it’s good harping division, apart from a single season (1971/1972) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now about the results orrenamed the displays as we can't change them, like I said in the last programme the good, the the Premier Division, twice more – 1986/1987 and 1988/1989.

They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that Today's us in leagueSenior actionLeague against Nomadsas and as always will another toughInmatch, year theymatch joined sees the Leicestershire andAnstey were promoted runners-up into thebe Premier Division. the 2007/2008 they it were members of the Midland Alliance, but aftertoa playing fire ravaged their home stadium all we can season, do is leave to the management team Football and hope we get back some consistent football the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League and gained and my prediction is ain3-1 (Alwaysseason. IN OPPOSITION TODAY ANSTEY NOMADS Anstey Nomads were formed in 1947 and were champions of the Leicestershire Senior League in the seasons 1951-52 and 1953-54. The following season the Club recorded its’ highest ever attendance of 4,500 against the Athenian League side Hayes in the 2nd round of the FA Amateur Cup. But just one year later the Club decided to join the Central Alliance. In 1966-67 the East Midlands Regional League was formed, mainly from Clubs in the Central Alliance, and of the six seasons the Nomads spent in this League, they gained a top four place in three of them. In 1971 Anstey Nomads were chosen to feature on Bartholomew’s Football map of England and Wales, our badge and information (albeit with incorrect founding date) is listed 5th between Andover and Arsenal. In 1994-95 the Nomads created history by winning both the Leicestershire FA Senior Cup and the Junior Cup in the same season. In 2008-2009 season the Nomads had one of their most successful seasons by winning the Leicestershire Senior League, The Battle of Britain Cup, The Rolleston Charity Cup and The Beacon Bitter League Cup. Our first season in the EMCL 2009/2010 saw the Nomads finish bottom but our good reputation helped us not get relegated and we stayed in the EMCL. Season 2011-12 Nomads were in the FA Cup for the first time in our history. The 2013-14 season was a time of transition for the Nomads, with some struggle, we managed to remain in the EMCL. Nomads also had their first Under 18's Floodlit team; they had an impressive season with several players stepping up to our senior sides. 2014-15 saw Rob Harris became first team manager alongside former Manager Jimmy Withers; Nomads' continued in with Youth development with the Under18's floodlit side, and started a new Under 16's side. 2015-16 Rob & Jimmy lead Nomads first team to their best EMCL performance, our u18’s continued with our youth progression and the u21’s side provided further youth development. Club won Grounds award from EMCL. 2016-17 Ground overhauled with a fresh new setup for the clubhouse and surrounding buildings, the old changing rooms that we got 2nd hand in 1947 have finally gone and replaced with more modern rooms for players and officials.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
