This is the first teams first Home Game in 2016 and I am sure that they will be pleased to be on home soil once again after a few tough weeks away. It’s very rare for me to rant in my notes but when I feel there is need to then unfortunately it has to have some air time. I am of course talking about the weather! But more importantly the vast amount of pundits, players, managers and such like that have moaned like never before about the state of pitches over the last few weeks and some of the excuses that I have heard have completely confirmed that football at times is so far removed from reality. I am not just talking about the amateur game and lets face it we all struggle at the best of times to keep on top of our pitches with limited time and volunteers, I am talking about the pro game where is all I have heard is nothing other than excuses as to why players can’t pass and why they can’t stay on their feet, well sorry this is how it was when England won the World Cup and this is how is was when Ronnie Radford scored a wonder goal for Hereford. Now I am not saying that we should revert back to those days as we all want to play and watch games on nice pitches but with record rainfall and very little give in the frequency, what more do people expect I ask. The FA Cup game at Eastleigh was, for me, what the FA Cup was all about for the lower league teams and it proved it with a deserved draw, but more importantly it was testament to the vast amount of hour’s people at that club put in to even get that game played in today’s football world. The FA Cup tie between Exeter v Liverpool again left me shouting at the TV screen when I heard Klopp say that Exeter had the advantage due to them knowing where the bad parts of the pitch were – NO, your players simply didn’t give a good account of themselves on the day and to use the pitch as an excuse pretty much sums up how football is sadly changing in my opinion and had I been the Chairman of Liverpool that night I would have stopped all the players wages and given it to local charity or even Exeter to sort their pitch out and take that excuse away! The weather has wreaked havoc with most sports clubs over the last 6-8 weeks and at times it has been sole destroying as we simply cannot maintain the pitch as we would have like to but that said we have worked tirelessly to get games on during this spell and my thanks go to the many volunteers that have assisted in the grounds work and the numerous hours spent sheeting over the areas that have been very waterlogged to try and protect them, namely the goalmouth at the top end of the ground. My sincere thanks to Ian Irving who has been a godsend over the last few months and his efforts have been commendable to say the least. As I have said too many times before, a club is at its strongest when the team off the field and the team on the field are parallel with their commitment to move forward and so far so good. CHAIRMANS WELCOME Continued from page 3 The club signed its newest and first paid for asset before Christmas and comes with the full backing of the Management Team, Coaching Staff, the FA, and County FA and has a phenomenal track record on the pitch. It has speeds beyond what we have witnessed before, it has power that will be the envy of other clubs, it has movements that will leave spectators and visiting teams gobsmacked with technique and performance all over the pitch, it has a four pronged attack which will be a real spectacle to see and even wears the clubs official colours of our goalkeeper jersey, Orange. I am of course talking about the new tractor and associated grounds machinery that was delivered just before Christmas and this will transform the way we maintain our pitches and training areas for years to come and it comes with the added bonus of a key to start it (rather than having to jump start the old yellow mower).
As you will all see and in addition to the new grounds maintenance machinery, the club has now taken delivery of the new 50 seater stand and I am sure you will agree it is pretty impressive. The committed effort made, yet again by Mark Pepper and his band of merry men, to get us to the stage whereby the stand could be erected was nothing short of perfection (he even ordered the weather) and this will now enable us to tick another huge box in the quest to meet the FA Ground Grading requirements for Step 5 should we be in a position to considered for promotion. However there is still a lot of work to do both on and off the pitch and we must remained focussed on both aspects to be in the best position needed. This will take the combined investment to over ÂŁ47,000 and will aid the club in its desire to not only play at the next level with the required ground grading but to provide one of the best pitches for the team to play on. We still have some seats available in the New stand for you to have a plaque placed with your name or a family members name on which will remain there for a lifetime. They are just ÂŁ100 and if you would like to reserve yours now that the stand is up let me know. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good afternoon of football. Stuart Bonser Club Chairman Ps - if you are visiting the ground by car please DO NOT OBSTRUCT the junction to Cambrian Way by parking on the grass/path verge as this is both dangerous and you could get a fixed penalty notice from the Council and or Police.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Radford. There have been seven wet weeks since the last programme notes so there is plenty to catch up on. Sincere apologies to the supporters who travelled over to Blaby to witness our League Cup exit which was largely down to what can only be described as a shambolic and embarrassing first half performance which belied all the good work and application the players had shown in previous weeks. Everyone was fully briefed prior to the game of what to expect but unfortunately we failed to deal with a highly committed opponent playing down a slope with a point to prove. In that first half we lacked individual belief and collectively were not prepared to dig in for each other to ride the storm. The most positive thing about that first half was we only went in at the interval two goals down. We improved in the second half to pull a goal back but in all honesty deserved nothing from the game. Players are deluded if they think they can show that level of application and attitude and expect anything positive from the game. A night to learn lessons’ and move on quickly. In contrast our last home game against Radcliffe saw a positive performance against dogged opposition and very much like the Stapenhill game we needed to be patient after missing some good chances early on in the game. Again set plays seemed the main threat from the opposition but we managed to break the deadlock 65 minutes in and never looked back from that point. Again encouragingly the lads who came off the bench made a real positive impact and drove us on as we got stronger as the game opened up. The attitude and application was in stark contrast to the Blaby game which is all credit to the players. Once again a little more composure in front of goal particularly early on could have seen us win by a much healthier margin but as an ex-defender a fifth consecutive clean sheet in the league was the most pleasing aspect of the performance. From mid-December our routine has been disrupted by cancelled games and training sessions due to the weather. We have managed to utilise the ATP at Ivanhoe College but it has not been ideal. As I have eluded to before there is a process we go through on training nights that prepares the players both individually and collectively to produce a performance on a Saturday. Our performances in the last 3 games would suggest the disruption to the process has resulted in a dip in performance and consequently results have suffered. It is up to the players and management to refocus and put in the hard yards to get back on track, which rest assured is happening. The attitude of the players has been first class and everyone is looking forward to the considerable challenges ahead. Our opponents today have been one of the front runners all season and will provide one of our toughest challenges to date. It’s time to push on and get back to applying ourselves in the correct manner providing the foundation to provide an entertaining display with the desired outcome. We are a work in progress and progress we will. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. Miles Warriner First Team Management Team

IN OPPOSITION TODAY RADFORD Radford FC were founded in 1964 as Manlove & Alliots FC and played in the Nottinghamshire Sunday League. Manlove & Alliots were an engineering firm situated in Radford and after the firm transferred to Scotland in 1970/71, the club carried on under the name of Radford Olympic FC. In 1977 they became the first amateur side in Britain to be allowed to wear advertising on their shirts and BBC Television came along to their home ground on Melbourne Park and filmed one of their matches and interviewed officials for the evening programme "Nationwide". In 1978 we formed a ground development committee and decided to seek out a piece of ground preferably in the Radford area for development of our own ground. Radford Olympic transferred to Saturday Football and made progress up the leagues and in 1982/83 finished Champions of the East Midlands Regional League. In 1983/84, they won the Central Midlands League Senior Cup and in 1987 Radford Olympic were renamed Radford FC. At the end of 2002/03 they were promoted to the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands League and in their first season in the top flight they finished 11th. After holding their own during the seasons 2003/04 & 2004/05 in the top league of the Central Midlands League, the club delivered silverware in the 2005/06 season under the guidance of Julian Garmston and assistant Pete Kelley, winning the C.M.L Phoenix Trophies Floodlight Cup and equally impressive was the equal fifth place finish in the C.M.L Supreme Division which in an extremely tough league was an excellent achievement. In addition new floodlighting and 1st phase significant ground improvements were actioned with Notts County providing a team to officially turn on the lights in early 2006 and during season 2005/06 a seated stand was completed. The club joined the EMCL in 2008 and finished 14th in their first season. The club qualified to play in the FA Cup for the first time in 2009/10 but went out 1-0 in the Extra Preliminary Round to Rainworth MW. The club achieved their best finishing position of third in 2014/15 under manager Glenn Russell, after putting together an unbeaten run of 19 league games.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
