CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to the opening game of the new season at Ashby Ivanhoe FC and as you will be aware by now, it’s the FA CUP and our very first appearance in this world famous competition. I would like extend a warm welcome to Quorn FC and their players, officials and spectators and I hope we all enjoy a great game. Well it's took us 68 years to reach this landmark of playing in the FA CUP and I hope that we do the founders of the club in 1948 proud as it was them that started this journey by establishing the club and I am keen to understand who those individuals were so if any of you have any knowledge then please let me know. Today's game will be the first time many of our players have played in the FA CUP and it is a proud day for all of our loyal and growing spectators too along with just reward to the many loyal volunteers that have worked tirelessly over the last 4 years since moving to Lower Packington Road. As you will see as you enter the ground we have been working hard yet again to bring significant improvements to the ground and remember we only had a field and a derelict building to work with 4 years ago and to see the ground as it is today is testament to the hard and committed work that never ceases to amaze me from the guys who continue to put their hands up to help. The new entrance and patio area along with walkways and planters has been transformed since the end of last season. This work was required to eliminate loose bound material which was deemed close to the pitch and is not acceptable on current ground grading rules. As you can see we didn't just throw a bit of matting down to cover the stones, we created a magnificent patio area which lifts the whole effect of the area outside the clubhouse for you all to enjoy and I am very proud of the guys who have made this transformation happen. They have worked tirelessly since the beginning of June and have been working most days since then to finish the project. Their backs, shoulders, arms and literally whole body has ached but they have persevered and my huge gratitude and thanks goes to, yet again, Mark Pepper, who has pulled out all the stops again and never ceases to amaze me. However, Mark, has been greatly assisted by Jon Emmerson, Dave Morris, Ryan Morris, Charlie Tissington Jnr, Dave Adey, Dave Buckley, Neil Johnson, Graham Ward, Gaz Stone and my huge thanks goes to them and now onto the next job fellas.......... At the end of a season there is always maintenance jobs that need doing whether that be painting, repairing, replacing or renewing and that requires people to step up and make these things happen and one of the guys that has, again, worked tirelessly to achieve all this is Ian Irving and my huge thanks goes to him along with Andy Topham who has greatly assisted too. I would like to welcome Daniel Rennocks from Fisher-Dewes solicitors to the game today. Fisher-Dewes have become our new Club sponsor and 1st team shirt sponsor for 3 years and I would like to thank them for their support of the club and hope we have a fruitful relationship over the next 3 years. Remember to always support our sponsors where you can, so if you need a good solicitors then be sure to call Fisher-Dewes. I would to thank all of the sponsors who are here today for their continued support both around the ground and in today’s programme. As you will see today's programme is fantastic and yet again, Matthew Lester has excelled in pulling this together and it has to be one of the best programmes at any FA CUP game today. Well done Matthew you should be proud. Today's match ball sponsor is Mark Sladen from Sladen Commercials and Mark will be presenting the match ball to the referee as the teams walk out today. Thanks for your support Mark. I would like to thank Borleys for the their support with materials and sponsorship of the patio and also Breedon Aggregates for the stone to the car park entrance I would like to finish by welcoming Tony Taylor to the club as our new Head Coach. Tony joins us from Burton Albion and has already made an impact with his approach to the players and we wish him every success. We also have a new Reserve Team manager in Russell White who joins us from Thringstone and we wish Russell well too. All that remains is to wish our players good luck today and I hope you all enjoy a great experience in our first appearance in the FA CUP. Stuart Bonser Club Chairmam

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Good afternoon and welcome to the home of Ashby Ivanhoe FC. May I extend a very warm welcome on behalf of the Club to everyone attending today’s match and in particular the players, officials and supporters of our opponents Quorn. Pre-season has seen us based up at Champneys and after 14 sessions and 4 friendlies the fitness levels of the majority of players should stand them in good stead for the coming months. As a club we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Michelle Randon and all the staff at Champneys for making us feel welcome up there. With the exception of Ali and Antonio we have retained all of last season’s squad and added a couple of new faces. Player recruitment and then more importantly development is a continuous “work in progress” and we have areas that need strengthening which we will address over the coming months. In terms of the backroom, Jose has taken a Head of Coaching role closer to home at Coventry United where they have big plans to swiftly progress through the pyramid. I am pleased to welcome Tony Taylor as our new Head Coach having joined us for the start of pre-season. I first met Tony several years ago on a FA Coaching course and he progressed into full time coaching at Burton Albion. A change in circumstances meant he became available and Burton’s loss is very much Ivanhoe’s gain. He has been offered another full time role at another professional club but has committed to Ivanhoe also. If the club and more importantly the players reciprocate the commitment and passion to the cause that Tony has the future looks bright for all concerned. Top coach, top lad. The friendly games have seen some encouraging signs notably against clubs who play at a higher standard. Our opener against Belper Town saw us perform to a level that belied the difference in league positions. With our strongest possible side out for the first half we moved the ball with purpose and a level of intensity that our opponents found hard to cope with which reflected in a two goal advantage. The second half proved a different proposition as we changed things around and their bench was always going to be stronger which eventually saw them run out 4-2 winners. However, Andy, Tony and myself were pleased with the overall performance given certain circumstances. Performance levels continued to improve against Coventry United and Clayton. Last Saturday we played a strong Walsall Wood side who had finished strongly in the Midland Premier League and progressed to the League Cup Final. Although score lines are irrelevant in friendlies the 3-1 victory reflects how the players performed to instruction and applied everything they have worked on in training virtually to the letter. It was the manner of the performance rather than the result that was very encouraging. However, these games, as we all know are “phoney wars” and we shall hopefully see over the coming months positive performances in competitive games which have developed as a result of the hard work put in by the players throughout pre-season. Our mantra as a Management Team is unchanged and set in stone, to work hard to develop individual and team dynamics on the training pitch that improve performance on a Saturday afternoon. Nine times out of ten if the performance is right and improving, results should take care of themselves. All we demand of the players is that they listen and trust the methodology/tactics we apply and reciprocate the hard work, commitment and transparency we demonstrate week in week out. As I said at the start of last season it sounds easy! Players who reciprocate will develop as footballer’s and succeed as the Club progresses, once again those who want to play the game out on twitter, text, facebook, FIFA and propping up the bar blaming everyone but themselves will undoubtedly struggle. Add Instagram and Snap Chat to that list, The Don and Shanks will be turning in their graves! Today is the club’s first venture into the FA Cup and the plan is to reward everyone who has worked tirelessly through the summer to improve the facilities with a victory. Let’s “hope” we can build on the efforts of the last few weeks and produce an entertaining performance with the desired outcome. Thank you for your support and enjoy the game. RESERVE TEAM UPDATE Welcome to today’s FA Cup tie against Quorn AFC. Just to introduce myself my name is Russell White and I have been appointed the new Reserve Team manager. I’ve currently been coaching for the last 5 years having previously been involved with Coalville Town U18’s and Loughborough University. I’ve now been given the opportunity to coach and manage Ashby Reserves for the upcoming season. Being from the local area I’ve seen the club making great strides in recent years on and off the pitch. Firstly, with the ground developments and most recently, the highest league finish in the club’s history. These are testament to the hard work and commitment from all at the club. I’m currently undertaking the UEFA B license and aim to work alongside the other coaches within the club. I hope to add my passion and enthusiasm to the club’s success and push to reach even higher achievements. Good luck to the team today Russell White Reserve Team Manager

A global company with local roots It’s been two decades since we began our business here in Ashby. We started small, but dared to dream big. And with the right mix of talent and a lot of passion, we grew more and more successful. Today we’re one of the world’s largest outsourcing companies for the pharmaceutical industry. But although we’re a global company, we’re still proud to call Ashby home. We’re also proud to be supporting Ivanhoe as they start their FA Cup adventure. So to the players, manager and fans, we say dare to dream big… because who knows how far you can go.

SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGES My earliest FA Cup memory is as a 7-year-old kid being allowed to stay up late to watch the highlights of the 1970 replay between Leeds United & Chelsea on Sportsnight. Now if you are as old as me then you will appreciate that in those days you only had 3 live games on TV per season, England vs Scotland (what about Wales I thought), The European Cup Final and The FA Cup Final and that was it, so the FA Cup was a huge event and I think that for many of my generation it still is. Despite The FA’s best efforts to mess around with it, semi-finals at Wembley, replays scrapped in some rounds, games played at ludicrous times so Mr Woo in Indonesia can get a bet on, still the oldest football competition in the world is magical and we at Ashby Ivanhoe are so excited to be part of it for the first time in our 68-year history. Of course we’ll all talk about Wembley & drawing Liverpool in the 3rd round but so what that’s what it’s about that it makes you dream about the “what ifs” and that is why we all love football and many of us work so hard to grow and develop the game at our level. I’m sure Stuart will cover this in his notes but just wanted to add my thanks to the volunteers who have worked so hard almost every day for the last 6 weeks to make the improvements to the ground you see today, you all know who you are and I am proud of what we have all achieved this Summer, even if my back & knees disagree. Our social media pages have been attracting loads on interest (follow us on Twitter & Facebook if you haven’t done so yet) and we have received loads of good luck messages ahead of todays’ game & here’s a selection of those comments opposite. Have a great day & enjoy the game. Dave Morris TWITTER: @AshbyIvanhoe_FC President FACEBOOK: Ashby Ivanhoe FC Ashby Ivanhoe FC FACEBOOK: Ashby Ivanhoe FC Soccer School

SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGES “Very best of luck to the Ivanhoe first team and the whole club for this special game. Hopefully it's the start of more matches like this as well as a good time for everyone at the club to reflect on what they've achieved together. Whenever I think of Ivanhoe I think of good times. Hood park in the early 80s, watching as a school kid with big brother. Fred and Charlie SNR putting the nets up with Charlie JNR in goals. Then playing at 16 and 17 plus and being looked after, and put in order, by all the "men" in the team and club, on and off the pitch. The FA Cup is fantastic, but the club and its members will always be bigger. Good luck Ivanhoe.” Ray Wearmouth “Having spent almost 20 happy years at Ivanhoe I never thought this day would come. Wish you all great success and enjoyment in the FA Cup” Steve Wardle “Wishing everybody at Ivanhoe the best of luck on this truly momentous day for all involved past and present the club has achieved so much in such a short time I enjoyed being part of this club met some great people from the old fox in the box up the Ivanhoe” Lee Croxall “So pleased to see the progress Ashby Ivanhoe have made in recent years. I am proud to have played a very small part in the history of the club. Having a few problems with my legs at the moment but I really hope to be there to help celebrate the first FA Cup match. It would be great to share a drink in the bar with anyone who remembers the 1990s! All the best and have a great day.” Andy Carey

IN OPPOSITION TODAY QUORN AFC The origins of Quorn Football Club can be traced back to 1924 when a group of local lads from the Village Wesleyan Chapel formed a football team. In 1937 the Club, then known as Quorn Methodists gained access to the Leicestershire Senior League with a final name change to Quorn Football Club taking place in 1952. Throughout its history Quorn FC has consistently been a high flyer among Leicestershire’s senior teams, producing several players that have progressed to higher levels of excellence. Jackie Lee a Centre Forward went on to play for Leicester City and Derby County becoming an international, when he played for England v Ireland and scored. Richie Barker, who went on to play for Derby County and Notts County later managed Stoke City, Dion Dublin, who enjoyed a great playing career joining Manchester United, Aston Villa, Coventry, Leicester City, and Norwich as well as playing for England. In recent times Luke Varney, who was sold by the Club to Crewe Alexandra FC, and who developed into one of their most exciting players scoring 25 goals for them in the 2006/07 season, his quality was then recognised by Charlton Athletic who signed him for £2.5 Million in July 2007. Luke is currently playing for Portsmouth after spells at Derby County and a season long loan period for Blackpool in the Premiership. Over the years Quorn Football Club has played at several grounds in and around the village, but it was in 1960 that it relocated to Warwick Avenue, there it enjoyed the reputation of always providing good hospitality and due to the pitch’s natural drainage, games were very seldom called off. Quorn moved to its present ground on Farley Way in 1994 with the establishment of a new modern Clubhouse large enough to cater for the demands of a progressive Football Club both on and off the field, a football pitch with a playing surface that compares with the best around and a large Astroturf training area. Driven by the Club’s ambition to have a ground satisfying the facility criteria of Leagues at a higher level in the Football Pyramid, the following 14 years has seen remarkable progress, with the development of a 350 Seat Grandstand, built with the potential of increasing its future capacity to 500, large spectator car parking facilities, outside spectator toilets, and the establishment of a large grass training pitch to compliment the Astroturf. The sale of Luke Varney from Crewe Alexandra to Charlton Athletic brought a hefty windfall for the club following the Chairman‘s Stuart Turners astute sell on clause that was part of the deal that took the striker to Crewe five years ago and the committee have invested the money wisely developing the ground even further with the construction of a new stand at the Farley Way end and a new extension to the clubhouse bringing the ground up to near Conference level. On the football playing side 2000/01 saw the Club under Manager Bob Steel gain promotion from the Leicestershire Senior League to the Midland Football Alliance, where it more than held its own until the 2006/07 season which saw Marcus Law replaced the departed Doug Keast as Manager and along with assistant Paul O’Brien, they steered the club to a promotion winning third place, securing promotion to the Unibond Northern Premier League.

27

IN OPPOSITION TODAY Under the new management the team also enjoyed exciting runs in both the FA Cup and the FA Vase, progressing further in both competitions than ever before and along with the shrewd deal mentioned above that our Chairman struck with Crewe for Luke Varney, the club can look back on the 2006/07 season as the most exciting in its history. The following 2007/08 season saw a few managerial changes with Gavin O’Toole given the task of steadying the ship in early January. Following the loss of several senior players Gavin along with Assistant Charlie Palmer gave opportunities to the younger players and a respectable league position was achieved. The end of the 2008/09 season saw the departure of Gavin O’Toole and Charlie Palmer, and former Manager Dougie Keast was approached to come back, along with his Assistant Mickie Cotter. The following two seasons saw the Club finish in the bottom half of the division, and following a poor start to the 2011/12 campaign the management pair offered their resignation, leading to the appointment of former professional player Lawrie Dudfield. Lawrie appointed his assistant Calum Osborne, who joined following a successful coaching role at Arnold Town FC. A string of poor results led to a further change in Management with Craig Armstrong appointed along with Reserve Team Manager, Denis Moran in place of the departed Dudfield. Craig and Denis were placed in charge with 6 matches remaining and relegation almost inevitable. Following the Clubs relegation to the Chromasport & Trophies United Counties League, a new management team were appointed ahead of the 2012/13 season. Tommy Brookbanks and assistant Mark Harvey were appointed to change the Clubs fortunes and looked to achieve promotion back to Step 4, at the first attempt. The departure of Brookbanks and the majority of his squad in December led to the Club appointing Reserve Team Manager Denis Moran as caretaker Manager until the end of the season. Denis along with assistants Jim Harrison and Gary Hayward steadied the ship and did a sterling job, finishing the season in 7th position despite having to field a side comprising the majority of players who started the season in the Reserve side. The 2013/14 Season saw Quorn return to the Midland Football Alliance, following a sideways move. The new management of John Folwell and assistant Karl Brennan, both former players, began the rebuilding of the club, virtually starting from scratch, after the previous season’s upheaval. A very successful first term ensued with a respectable 5th place in the League and lifting the MFA League Cup Trophy at Walsall FC. Disappointment came in the Westerby Cup Final defeat at the King Power Stadium. The Reserve side, under the Management of Ricky Nurse and Rich Burford, also having a great season, finishing runners-up in the League, Winning the League Cup and also reaching the Leicestershire Senior Cup Final. The 2014/15 season saw Folwell and his team resign with 2 months of the season remaining, Dougie Keast returned as Caretaker Manager and saw out the season with a depleted squad. Following the upheaval in early March, the Club were forced to withdraw their Reserve side from the MFL. The 2015/16 season saw the Club again going through a rebuilding process, Dougie Keast was appointed Manager on a permanent basis and added Chris Gray as his Assistant, the former skipper returning to the club after 3 years to take up a player/coaching role. Dave Clay also joins the Management as First Team Coach. Chris left to join Gresley in October and was replaced by Russell Hoult. Russ settled in really well and together with Dougie and Dave formed a great working relationship. The Reserve side have reformed and joined the Leicestershire Senior League and the Club have appointed Garry Smith as Manager with Leigh Daniels coming in as his assistant. 28

vs Quorn AFC | Saturday 6th August 2016 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.com

IN OPPOSITION TODAY During the close season Quorn lost the services of Dave Clay, who took up a role as joint manager at Oadby Town FC. Quorn also lost Garry Smith and Leigh Daniels, with both taking up a joint role at Loughborough United FC, all at Quorn wish all three every success at their new clubs. 2016/17 sees Doug and Russ build on last season’s improving squad and it's hoped that with additional signings and the experience that the young side gained in a tough campaign last season, will see the Club once again compete at the top end of the table as the Club enters a new phase, with the addition of a brand new 3G surface at Farley Way, expected to be installed in time for the start of the 2017/18 season.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
