CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good evening and welcome to tonight’s match against our visitors Radford FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Radford FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. I want to pay credit to Sam Johnson, Royce Turville and Dan Stevenson for pulling together the players last Saturday and putting out the team that gained a 2-2 draw against Anstey Nomads. The attitude shown by Sam (Jonno) Johnson in taking his role as Captain to the level of fielding a team is credit to him as an individual and shows his commitment to the cause. Leading up to the game Jonno was supported by 2 experienced players in Royce and Dan and I am sure they will continue to support over the next few games as we look for a new manager to come in. The players that were selected for the game against Anstey also did themselves proud and represented the club in a manner which they should be proud of. To update you on the Manager front, I have now received 3 applications formally along with 2 pending that I have spoke to and the deadline for applications is this Friday. As I mentioned in my notes on Saturday it is my job to find the right Manager for the club and that can adopt our philosophy and move it on a level at the same time whilst ensuring that communication and commitment remain at the heart of what we do as a club. The role is not just about the first team it is about the club and understanding that we have something quite special to offer the right candidate. Once a decision is made we will announce it at the earliest opportunity to you all via the social media channels we have available so keep your eyes peeled in the next 10-14 days. Ashby led 2-0 at the break before the visitors were reduced to ten men. Then three goals in seven minutes turned the game in favour of the visitors. Ashby responded to go back in front at 4-3 but another two goals in quick succession gave St Andrews the victory and a Quarter Final spot. Ashby opened the scoring in the 16th minute just seconds after St Andrews had had a shot saved and they broke forward and from the right of the area a shot from Danny Quinn crossed the line before the defender could clear. The visitors had a great chance to level the scores just before the half hour mark when the ball fell to a player inside the area and with keeper Chris Hodge wrong footed the shot was blazed over the bar. With a minute of the first half remaining Ashby doubled their advantage when a corner from Chris Waldrum found Joel Carta towards the back post and he placed his header back across goal and into the top corner to give Ashby a 2-0 half time lead. The second half was all end to end and seven goals were scored in the second 45. The first came on 55 minutes and just seconds after St Andrews were reduced to ten men they reduced the deficit when a corner was played into the area and headed home from close range. On the hour mark the scores were level when a shot from long range swerved beyond Hodge and then on 62 minutes the turnaround was complete when a cross into the area from the left was headed home from close range by an unmarked player. Ashby did respond well and on 68 minutes they levelled the scores when a through ball from Carta found Quinn inside the area and he turned well before seeing his effort find the net off a St Andrews defender to make it 3-3 and then with 13 minutes remaining Ashby edged themselves back in front when a corner from Waldrum found Quinn at the back post and his effort found the net just inside the near post. All Ashby needed to do now was hang on to their lead but just two minutes later more poor defending from a corner resulted in another equaliser for the away side as following the corner a player was given too much time and space and his shot found the top corner. The final goal of the match came in the 82nd minute when a ball through the Ivanhoe defence left them appealing for offside but the flag stayed down and the player rounded Hodge to finish into an empty net. There was to be no late goals for Ashby in this match as there was against Hucknall resulting in a disappointing cup exit.

IN OPPOSITION TODAY RADFORD The club was founded in 1964 as Manlove & Alliots FC. The club played in the Nottinghamshire Sunday League. Manlove & Alliots were an Engineering firm situated in Radford. After the firm transferred to Scotland in 1970/71, the club carried on under the name of Radford Olympic FC. In 1977 Radford Olympic became the first amateur side in Britain to be allowed to wear advertising on their shirts and the BBC Television cameras came along to Melbourne Park and filmed one of our matches and interviewed officials for the evening programme "Nationwide". In 1978 the club formed a ground development committee and decided to seek out a piece of land preferably in the Radford area for development of our own ground. Radford Olympic transferred to Saturday Football and made progress up the leagues and in 1982/83 finished Champions of the East Midlands Regional League. In 1983/84, they won the Central Midlands League Senior Cup. In 1987 Radford Olympic were renamed Radford FC. At the end of 2002/03 Radford were promoted to the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands League and in their first season in the top flight finished 11th. After holding their own during seasons 2003/04 & 2004/05 in the top division of the Central Midlands League, the club delivered silverware in season 2005/06 under the guidance of Julian Garmston and assistant Pete Kelley, winning the CML Phoenix Trophies Floodlight Cup and equally impressive was the equal fifth place finish in the CML Supreme Division. New floodlighting and 1st phase ground improvements were actioned with Notts County providing a team to officially turn on the lights in early 2006. During season 2005/06 a seated stand was completed. Radford FC joined the East Midlands Counties League in 2008 and finished 14th in their first season. The club qualified to play in the FA Cup for the first time in 2009/10 but went out 0-1 in the Extra Preliminary Round to Rainworth MW. The club achieved a finishing position of third in 2014/15 under manager Glenn Russell, after putting together an unbeaten run of 19 league games. Radford improved on their third spot by becoming EMCL runners up in 2015/16.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
