CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good evening and welcome to tonight’s match against our visitors Greenwood Meadows FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and spectators of Greenwood Meadows FC and hope that we all enjoy a good match. Unfortunately I will not be at tonight’s game due to taking my Son, Kieran, to his first Champions League game at Manchester City v Monaco. Last Saturday saw our Reserves take on Friar Lane at Home and I stayed behind to watch the game and for those that were watching they would have seen a fantastic effort by our lads who actually played some great football on a difficult pitch and forced the opposition to play long balls for most of the game. The real pleasing thing was that we, yet again, fielded a young side with 4, 16 year olds being named in the squad which is great for the future of the club and shows that you can bring kids into senior football and who didn’t look out of place so well done lads and well done to Mark, Russ and Mick. The first team will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight I am sure after their defeat on Saturday and I know that Steve and Lee will be working hard to keep the side focussed on the next round of games. The games will be coming in thick and fast over the coming weeks and thank you all for your continued support of all of the teams. Just wanted to give thanks to our Operations Manager, Ian Irving, who continues to work tirelessly at the club making sure pitches are fit and playable as well as co-ordinating other ongoing maintenance work. I see Ian most days and unless you witness what I see you can often forget the amount of time and effort he puts in each week which adds up to over 15-18 hours per week as a minimum. Without people like Ian we would not be able to operate as we do and my sincere thanks go to him for his outstanding contribution to the club. All that remains is to wish the team well today and hope that we all enjoy a good evening of football. FIRST TEAM UPDATE Managers Talk Good evening and welcome to the NFU Sports Ground for this tonight’s league game against Greenwood Meadows FC. We would like to welcome all those connected with Greenwood and hope you have a safe journey home. With last week’s fixture postponement due to an unfit pitch, we have managed to get a training session into the lads to keep them ticking over as we need to keep the momentum going as the last two league games have been encouraging, winning both of them, we need to keep focussed and aim to continue our good work and try to string another good unbeaten run going again. We have now started to creep up the league and our aim is still a top 6 position come the end of March/early April, and then let’s see what happens in the last 3 to 4 weeks of the season as I do believe it is going to one interesting Month in April. We are now regarded as very hard to beat and breakdown by the top teams in this division, I know from talking to other managers of the top sides they don’t fancy playing us. It’s very important for us to continue picking up points and as I said earlier let’s see where we are in the table after the next run of 10 games to then push on further. This game will be another good test as to how we are doing and one we can really measure ourselves against in terms of where we are as a group. For those who weren’t at the last home game and didn’t see the programme notes: Reference player movements I am delighted to welcome back Sam Johnson back to the club after a short spell away “Welcome back Jonno”. IN OPPOSITION TODAY GREENWOOD MEADOWS Greenwood Meadows FC were formed in 1987 following the amalgamation of Greenwood FC and Meadows Albion FC. Greenwood FC were founded in 1956 and began life in the Notts Alliance League where in the 1985/86 season they finished runners up in the league and reached the semi final of the cup. Meadows Albion FC were in the MA Spartan League and won several honours including the senior league in 1984. The following season they finished runners up in the senior league and won the league cup. In the 1999/2000 season Greenwood Meadows FC left the Notts Alliance League to join the Central Midlands Football League and went on to finish runners up in the Premier League in 2000/01, winning promotion to the Supreme Division. Where in the first season they finished 6th. The club remained in the Central Midlands Football League until they became founding members of the East Midlands Counties League in 2008/09.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
