CHAIRMANS WELCOME Good evening and welcome to The NFU Sports Ground. I’d like to welcome the players, officials & supporters of Stapenhill to what is probably your shortest away trip of the season. On Saturday we just lost out by the odd goal to high flying Birstall United which I guess was some revenge for them after our cup victory last Tuesday. Whilst playing well, especially in the 2nd half, we just couldn’t grab the equalizer we deserved but it was a good game & decent crowd on a sunny afternoon. An encouraging feature of Saturday’s line up was the emphasis on youth & it was great to see George Wesley, Aaron Windram & Angus Blair-Park all contributing to the performance & more than holding their own against a side near the top of the division.
Youth is certainly a massive part of our club & on Saturday I enjoyed watching Gez Eviors’ Under 11’s win their cup semi final 5-0 with some terrific football & cracking finishing & the game played in a great spirit too. Let’s hope that in a few years these players will be featuring in the Ivanhoe first team as that’s how we would like the youth set up to work, building the infrastructure & the foundations for the future. That’s starts at the Saturday morning soccer school which is really taking off & we had 20 kids in attendance last week, maybe the sunshine helped, but again it’s great to have them involved at the club at such an early age.
Finally, another plea that if you or anyone you know would like to get involved at the club, on a match day or with any spare hours you might have in the week, we’d love to hear from you, running the club is increasingly a big task but broken down into a few hours here & there lightens the load on the few & it would help enormously if we had more people involved.
Thanks for your support, it’s much appreciated, have a good evening & enjoy the game.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Managers Talk Good evening and welcome to NFU Sports Ground for this evening’s league game against Stapenhill FC. We would like to welcome all those connected with Stapenhill and hope you have a safe journey home. Last Tuesday night saw us progress to the final of the League Cup with a 1-0 win against Birstall in the semi-final at Barrow Town’s ground. The team played really well and we now look forward to face the winners of Aylestone Park or Dunkirk in the final come May. We then had the rematch last Saturday with Birstall in the league. This time they took the win in a close 1-0 victory with an own goal which was very unfortunate coming off the crossbar and hitting Tom on the back on its way down. We need to get back to winning games in the league as quickly as possible and keep the momentum going into the final month of the season to keep us in and around the top 6 and to go into the cup final full of confidence. Our league positions aim is still a top 6 position come end of April. It’s very important for us to continue picking up points and as I said earlier let’s see where we are in the table come end of April. Today’s game will be a decent test of us as it’s a local derby game against one of my former clubs in Stapenhill. Back in 2014 I managed the club to a respectable runners-up place in the EMCL, narrowly missing out on the league title to Thurnby Nirvana. There are still a few players that are still playing their trade at the club and some others that also played for me at Bardon Hill in the last 2 years also, so it will personally be nice to see them. Also Stapenhill’s current management who were my reserves management team when I was at the club have done a decent job in re stabilising the club since I left 3 years ago. Stapenhill currently sit in a very respectively 7th position in the league. With ourselves only a few places below it should be a good game. To our supporters, your support has been great and we would like to say thank you - this really helps the lads. Enjoy the game. IN OPPOSITION TODAY STAPENHILL Stapenhill FC were formed in 1947 and ten years after formation they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two and found immediate success, gaining promotion in their debut season and winning the Division One championship in the following two seasons. They remained in that division, apart from a single season (1971–72) in Division Two, winning the top flight, now renamed the Premier Division, twice more – 1986–87 and 1988–89. They then joined the Midland Combination Premier Division, staying there for five seasons until they became a founding member of the Midland Alliance where they remained until resigning from the league in January 2002. Later that year Stapenhill FC joined the Leicestershire Senior League and were promoted as runners-up into the Premier Division. In the 2007–08 season, they were members of the Midland Football Alliance, but after a fire ravaged their home stadium, the club was forced to close down. The club reformed in 2009 and rejoined the Leicestershire Senior League. More recently as proud members of the East Midlands Counties Football League Premier Division Stapenhill FC continues to prosper under the guidance of newly appointed Chairman Ian Gough and his dedicated team of players and officials.

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of four adult teams and a youth team. The first team play in the East Midlands Counties League, with the Reserves in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for the 2012/2013 season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Three. For 2015/2016 a third Saturday side has been formed who will play in the North Leicestershire Football League Division One. The club also has 11 junior sides ranging from Under 9’s through to Under 17’s who play in the Burton Junior Football League, Tamworth Junior Football League and the Derby City League. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 of the non-league pyramid for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016.
