Tipping Point
Produced by Turtle Key Arts Set in the round, five performers are enclosed within the circle of the stage. They take simple metal poles and transform them into a rich landscape of images. Poles are balanced on fingertips, hung from the roof, lashed, climbed, swung from and walked along. Within the arena of the stage the performers balance, climb, spin and cling to this teetering, changing world, supporting each other as they wrestle and play with the moment when things begin to shift. They must decide whether to rail against the chaos – struggling to exert order on a disordered world, or ride it out, allowing life to tilt towards the tipping point. Coulrophobia Dik and Adam are traditional clowns in a very untraditional situation. They somehow find themselves in a world where everything is made of cardboard: chairs, tables, a lift, musical instruments and even a boat. Through a series of outrageous sketches, involving slapstick, mime and much audience participation, the two clowns discover that they are indeed trapped in this cardboard world and being controlled by an evil presence: the diminutive yet terrifying Poco the Clown. The only way to escape their dilemma is to dupe two members of the audience into taking their places. Will this be possible? That depends on how persuasive they can actually be … Wed 10 Feb, 7.45pm £10 Special Offer: See page 3 for details Studio Genre: Drama

In the extraordinary universe that is The Train, a woman private investigator is asked to look for a group of missing children. But what begins as a simple missing persons’ case quickly turns into a journey into The Train’s strange and uncharted territories and into the physical and philosophical laws that seemingly govern its existence. Drawing on references as diverse as Jorge Luis Borges, Joseph Conrad and the early films of Lars Von Trier, The Train is one part immersive theatre experience and one part philosophical fairground ride. Created as a seductive fusion of graphic novel science fiction and (David) Lynchean psychoanalytic dreamscape, an audience of 12 sit in a moving auditorium and follow our heroine on a journey into her own persona, where we discover her very own Heart of Darkness.

This exhibition is a celebration of the diversity of the photographic interests of the members of the Rushden and District Photographic Society. A photograph is not just a record but the artistic expression of the vision of the person who captures and subsequently processes the image. The Exhibition Wall will celebrate the vivid colours to be found both in nature and man-made objects. The prints in the Gallery are modern interpretations of classic photographs with classic themes consisting of monochrome images. The intention is to contrast contemporary colour and action with striking classic shapes and forms made easier to appreciate without the distraction of colour.

This annual travelling exhibition consists of sixty monochrome images which are displayed in galleries throughout the region. www.emmg.org.uk

Pripyat - 30 Years On
A Different Perspective
In April 1986, an accident at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine caused the evacuation of neighbouring towns and villages within a 30km area. This collection of images shows the forces of nature - 30 years on – as it reclaims the land and buildings of Pripyat, a worker town of the power station, and slowly turns the deserted town into rubble.
Having studied art, architecture and perspective and worked as a pen/ink illustrator, Ali has years of experience producing drawings commercially, especially of buildings. Ali now works for herself drawing varied landmarks including pubs, churches and other wedding venues. Ali’s work ranges from these architectural studies to colour pencil drawings of animals, along with occasional portrait painting studies.
