Concert Theatre presents

The Rite of Spring / Romeo and Juliet The Rite of Spring / Romeo and Juliet is a visceral marriage of two tales of slaughtered innocence. The violent dissonance in Stravinsky’s depiction of a young virgin chosen for the dance of death mirrors the hatred between Shakespeare’s Montagues and Capulets, whose children are fated to die in the ancient blood feud of their families. Performed in four-hand piano and commedia half-mask, the stories interweave through passion, vitality, rage and despair to the dizzying climax of sacrifice. The latest work by Concert Theatre, a young company combining classical music and theatre in live performance, brings together pianists from the Royal Academy of Music with Lecoq-trained performers and Trestle Theatre to create an exciting reinterpretation of two great classic works. Monroe as we’ve never seen her before: alone in her bedroom, in dressing gown and slippers; no glitz, no glamour, no masks. Overdosed on pills, the woman behind the icon unravels her remarkable life and bares all, revealing a biting intelligence, a frustrated talent and an imperfect body. This stark confessional (DiMaggio, Gable, Miller, her mother – it’s all here) offers a radical interpretation of this Hollywood legend and leads us, in real time, to the very moment of her death. Wellingborough Camera Club presents this exhibition of images for all the people of Wellingborough to enjoy. The club has been enjoying creating pictures for sixty years and was founded to bring together all those who are interested in photography and to promote the appreciation of the hobby.

“My favourite subjects are flowers and gardens, landscapes and seascapes, tropical fish and birds – all equally appealing for my watercolours practised over many years. With a sensitive approach, my intention is to suggest ‘atmosphere’ around each chosen subject.”

“Using your camera, improving your pictures, producing prints, or simply enjoying looking at pictures, we will have something to help you.”
