The Students at the University of Huddersfield have used the Next Archive and the 1980’s as there muse to create their Jackets. The jackets and the classic 1980’s garments from the Next Archive will be exhibited in a concept which has been inspired by a 80’s disco; the lighting will be key to creating this look. The observing area will be in complete darkness and the cabinets filled with everything 1980s will be illuminated with spotlights and colourful floor lighting. It will look futuristic, clean cut and edgy, providing a current appeal to todays modern societies. Filling the room with darkness will allow the work and information to transcend, grasping the audiences attention taken them on a voyage into the 1980‘s.

3.3 Furnishings The observing area in the exhibition space will be kept minimal, to allow focus on the display cabinets. The cabinets will be loaded with garments carefully presented on Black mannequins. The idea behind the black mannequins is to create a look that wont attract attention away from the garments, the mannequins will blend into the black background and spotlights will generate a glow around the clothing.
