Your local Conservative team have frozen Council Tax for 2011/12 giving households a well deserved break. Conservatives supported the overwhelming majority of First Choice Homes Tenants to move to registered social landlord status, bringing in £149 Million. Continue to protect frontline services related to the most vulnerable people in our community as well as libraries, leisure-centres and swimming pools. We will continue to explore all options in reducing the cost and number of Councillor’s and the cost of managing the Council, Cllr’s and senior officers. We will continue to support the recent considerable improvements made in our education services .

Robert Barnes feels that it is time to take action against dog faeces. Not only are Failsworth's roads covered with dog faeces, but even our parks! It upsetting to be told by parents & grandparents that they have to spend up to an hour cleaning up playing fields at Mabel Road and possibly Lord Lane clearing dog faeces before their kids can have a game of football there. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH FOR ENFORCEMENT AGAINST IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE, WITH FINES POSSIBLY BEING HANDED DOWN TO THOSE WHO JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT DOG FOULING.

After years of Labour rule, your local Conservatives have ensured that finally Council Tax will be frozen for 2011/12. Under Labour we saw Council Tax rates double, meaning hard pressed Failsworth taxpayers were constantly being squeezed. We felt it was important to give taxpayers a break.

Failsworth needs to have a local and accountable representative and to set an example Robert Barnes will take a 10% cut in his Councillors allowance if elected. He will ensure Failsworth has a voice, instead of the old kowtowing Cllr’s who put party before town. So vote Conservative and lets put Failsworth First.

Despite what has been a very difficult year for Oldham, we are committed to protecting our valued community assets. We have protected our libraries, leisure centres and swimming pools, while at the same time freezing Council Tax. Going forward, our vision is for a more accountable council, one that gives value for money and empowers local people.
