Welcome to our club Good afternoon and welcome to Profiles Park for this afternoons North West Counties North tie against Chadderton. Firstly huge thanks to the fans whom supported us at our last home game. It truely is amazing to see our increase, even including Wigan Athletic season ticket holders who are choosing to support us instead of going their games. Obviously I am 100% a Wigan fan at heart but there is no reason why we can't support The result on Saturday was disappointing. both. However we can not be disappointed with the effort. Sometimes, and hopefully less than more times, we have them games when certain things go against you. What is good though, and especially at the start of the season games come quick and fast and you have an immediate chance to get that result out of your system. Chadderton will be tough opponents as always today, but the focus, as if every game, is victory.

Frustratingly the fixtures are still not fully out, however it's amazing to hear so many excited and planning to go to away games. I dare say if we did actually play the Isle of Man one day that there's certain people ready to charter planes and sail boats ! Here's hoping they are here soon, and I am thoroughly looking forward to a couple of coach trips away, and maybe even a weekend in Blackpool depending how it falls.

Thank you so much again to all whom are watching today, your support means a hell of a lot to all of us at the club and the players can certainly tell the difference with the growing fan base. The twelfth man is key at any level, and in any sport. You have your part to play in our season. Stay safe, Mark - Club Chairman - Ashton Town AFC

Information & HIST Chadderton FC was originally formed in 1946 under the name of Burnley Lane Estate Juniors, who joined the Middleton Youth League and played on Parkway on the Parkway Estate. In 1947, an Open Age team was also formed and both teams moved to Mill Brow and adopted the name Millbrow Football Club. They played at the side of the canal at Mills Hill and changed at the Rose of Lancaster Pub. Later they moved to Broadway changing their name to North Chadderton Amateurs, and changed at the Chadderton Arms Pub. The Club adopted its present name, Chadderton FC in 1957. The Club

started life in the Oldham Amateur League, winning the Challenge Cup in 1954/55. The following season 1955/56, the Club joined the Manchester Amateur League and won the League Championship in their first season. After winning the League Championship again in 1962/63, Chadderton then joined the Manchester League winning the Second Division title in their first season 1964/65 and gaining promotion to the First Division.

TORY OF CHADDERTON The Club won the League`s Murray Shield in 1965/66, their first season in Division One, and then the Div 1 League title in 1966/67.1969/70 Chadderton FC won the Manchester League Gilgryst Cup During the 1970`s the Clubs only honours came in the form of the Manchester Challenge Trophy which they won in 1971/72, but failed to retain it in the following season, finishing runners-up. Chadderton made the step into a higher grade of football in 1980 when they joined the Lancashire Combination. The Club made a good start in this league, finishing runners-up in 1981/82. In 1982, Chadderton became one of the founder members of the North West Counties Football League, following the merger of the Lancashire Combination and the Cheshire County League. The Club gained promotion to Division One in 1989/90 after finishing third in the league, but were relegated the following season. Promotion came once again in 1992/93 but, after failing to meet ground grading requirements, were relegated in 1998/99. Chadderton`s proudest moments have come in seeing the progression of its former players, such as former England captain David Platt, Former Leeds United and Crystal Palace player, John Pemberton and Northern Ireland International, Steve Jones. Former player Mike Ford forged a successful career in both codes of Rugby and Mark Owen of Take That also once pulled on the red shirt of Chadderton FC! Off the field in 2007, the Club was the subject of a take-over by local businessmen Craig Halliwell and Tony Bhatti, the joint owners of The HB Property Group Limited (previously The Halliwell Bhatti Group) which is the parent company of the local property development company Hillstone Developments Limited. The members of Chadderton voted overwhelmingly in October 2006 for the take-over to go ahead and after 10 long months the legalities were finally completed in August 2007. In August 2009 Chadderton's association with The HB Property Group Limited was terminated and Chadderton Football Club reverted to a members club run by the people for the people. In 2013 Paul Buckley, Chadderton FC Manager since December 2005 was forced to retire as the

Manager due to ill health after steering the Club to a number of top 5 positions, in his time at the Club, also reaching the semi finals of the League Cup and the Divisional Cup. Steve Patterson and Mark Cook were appointed as Joint Managers from 2013 -2014 season together with Ben Greenidge as Player/Assistant Manager and Matthew McNeill as Team Coach. The duo led Chadderton to a good run in the FA Vase in 2014/15 as well as reaching the NWCFL Division One Play-Offs in the same season where they were defeated by AFC Darwen. At the end of 2015/16 the duo stood down due to family and work commitments. In May 2016 ambitious Mark Howard was appointed as manager, bringing with him as his assistant Ian Hulme. Mark joined the club after a 3 year spell at Royton Town in the Manchester League, where he had achieved success including the Gilchryst Cup and an appearance in the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield Final. In 2016/17, his first season at the club, Mark led the team to a final league position just outside the play-offs, and a narrow defeat on penalties to City of Liverpool FC in the semi-final of the Macron League Cup, scoring a club record 128 goals along the way. With a new playing surface being laid in the 2017 close season, and lots of plans for the development of the club, the future looks very bright indeed. Season 2017/18 did not go well for Mark and Phil and parted company with Chadderton, In came David Fish and Lee Ashworth with having to put together a new team with most of the players following Mark Howard, Dave and Lee did a good job securing Chadderton to a mid-table position. Season 2018-19 was another hard season with players coming and going it was hard to keep a settled side, Season 2019-20 well I think everyone knows about it with Covid19 putting stop to the Season finishing. It was the last we would see of Dave and Lee who were offered the job to Manage Mossley, Dave and Lee left on good terms with Chadderton and we wished them well on their new venture. Season 2019-20 was marked null and void by the Football Association due to Covid-19. Season 2020-21 Chadderton announced their new Management Team of former players has joint Managers, Ben Greenidge, Carl Taylor, and Mark Cook. Unfortunately 2020-21 Season was marked null and void by the Football Association due to Covid-19.

Who’s played at edge green st Christopher Martin Casper was born in Burnley, Lancashire on 28th April 1975. He attended the town's St Theodore's RC High School and is the son of former Burnley forward Frank Casper. Casper joined Manchester United as a trainee in 1991 and played in their FA Youth Cup winning team a year later. When still only 17, he signed professional terms in January 1993, making his United debut in the League Cup game against Port Vale at Old Trafford on 5 October 1994. Casper was a product of the same United youth setup that sparked the highly successful careers of players such as David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt, who all spent a decade or more with the club, helping them win numerous trophies and also being regular members of the England national football team. Casper was also captain of the England youth team, and was a member of the European Championship winning side in 1993. He also appeared for the England Under 21 side in Toulon in 1996. Casper later had several spells on loan at Bournemouth and Swindon Town during the 1990s, but was unable to claim a regular place in the first team at Old Trafford and he was sold to Division Two side Reading in November 1998 for £300,000. Whilst playing for Reading against Cardiff City in a Division Two fixture on Boxing Day 1999 Casper suffered a double leg fracture. This was the last professional game that Casper, then aged 24, ever played, as he later announced his retirement the following year after failing to recover

sufficiently from the injury. More than four years later, he secured undisclosed compensation in an out-of-court settlement with Richard Carpenter, the Cardiff City player whose tackle had caused his career -ending injury. He then went into management and took charge of Team Bath in 2002 before moving to Football League Two club Bury for three years. At the time, he was the youngest manager in the top four tiers of the English football league system. However, a run of poor form in 2008 led to his departure from Bury. Casper then took backroom jobs at Bradford City and Grimsby Town, before joining the FA Premier League as a club support manager. He is now sporting director at Salford City F.C. He appeared here at Edge Green Street back in May 2019 when he started alongside Manchester United‟s „Captain Fantastic‟ Bryan Robson in the Joseph‟s Goal Legends game against the Latics Legends side.

MATCH REPORT V Pilkington FC - 17/8/21 Town came into the game on the back of two straight wins but against an unbeaten Pilkington side who were looking to move to the top of the Division One North Table with a victory at Profiles Park. Manager Dave Dempsey started with the same side that finished the previous away game at Atherton LR in the hope of maintaining some consistency and confidence.

The local Derby started quite evenly matched with chances at both ends as the two sides jostled for the lead for the first half an hour of play. On 30 minutes Town's best chance of the game thus far fell to Jay White after a break down the right flank by Leon Wright who played the ball into White and his shot flashed just wide of the visitors upright. The warning could and should have been heeded by the visitors but they failed to respond. Two minutes later Noah Robson played a ball through to Jay White who broke down the middle and struck an unstoppable effort from around twenty yards out to give Town what was, at the time, certainly a deserved lead. Seven minutes later Town again threatened the visitors as Leon Wright burst forward into the visitor's penalty area where he was bundled over from behind by a more clumsy than reckless challenge from which the referee awarded a penalty kick to Town. The penalty was duly dispatched by Jay White to send Town into the half time break with a two-goal advantage. The second half start as the first had finished with Ashton Town in the

ascendancy and on 55 minutes a ball from skipper Jack Richards to Tommy Grindrod was then laid onto the in-form Jay White who duly smashed the ball home to complete a well-deserved hattrick. Town continued to dominate the game for the whole of the second period and manager Dempsey took the opportunity to introduce fresh legs in Rustam Stepans, Kieran Alley and Carl Lownsbrough, giving well deserved rests to Jay White, Leon Wright and Tommy Grindrod who had all put in fantastic performances. The scoring wasn't finished though and on 84 minutes up stepped Rustam Stepans to score Town's fourth goal of the evening and his fourth of the season to put him joint top scorer thus far with striker Jay White.

So, Town ran out four nil victors on the evening beating the previously unbeaten visitors from Pilkington and moving up the league table to 6th position. Most pleasing and more importantly though was a first clean sheet of the season as Town made it three wins on the run and looking forward to a forthcoming run of three home games on the run against Holker OB, today's visitors Chadderton and Golcar United who are due here at Profiles Park next Saturday.

MATCH R V HOLKER OLD BO possession the visitors responded with what can only be described as an horrific two footed challenge on Tom McNamara. Surprisingly the referee allowed play to continue without even awarding a free kick, setting the tone for what was going to follow with a number of match changing decisions affecting both sides.

Ashton Town went into a second home game in the space of four days full of confidence following three successive league victories over Ilkley Town, Atherton LR and Pilkington FC which saw them sitting at 6th place in the league table at time of kick off. The teams were turned around following the pre=match coin toss with Town playing the first half up the slight Profiles Park hill.

On 35 minutes James Ludgate was cautioned by the referee for a rather innocuous challenge on an opponent which many in the ground did not even see as a foul never mind being worthy of a caution from the match official. Town continued to pressure the visitors though and following fantastic save from an Alex Noonan header

The visitors started the brighter and from a corner kick after only three minutes caught the Town defence napping to take a one goal advantage. To add to Town's woes only three minutes later a low cross driven into the Ashton penalty area and taking a wicked deflection into the goal gave the visitors a two-nil lead after only eight minutes of the game. Town responded positively to the early setback though and quickly settled back into the confident stride they had shown earlier in the week at home to near neighbours Pilkington. After fifteen minutes of predominantly Ashton pressure and

the Holker keeper against performed further heroics on 39 minutes to tip a Leon Wright lob onto the crossbar and ensure that the visitors made it to half time leading by two goals to nil.

Report By Gordon Johnson

REPORT YS FC - 21/8/21 Town started the second period again pushing for the goal that had alluded them in the first half but were lucky to keep eleven players on the field of play when Leon Wright received only a caution for what many in the ground saw as a tackle worthy of a red card. Just one of many unexplainable decisions on the day from the referee. On 61 minutes Noah Robson received the ball from Tom Parry just on the left-hand side of the visitor's penalty area, Noah took two touches and curled the ball into the Holker goal at the far post to score Town's first goal of the game and his own first of the season. The following eight minutes were constant Town pressure as the visitors appeared to be flagging and desperately hanging onto their one goal advantage. After 69 minutes though Holker managed to get out of their own penalty area and broke up field momentarily. As they did so James Ludgate made a fantastic sliding tackle just outside the Town penalty area, clearing winning the ball and making no contact at all with his opponent. To the bemusement of all in the ground, including the Holker team themselves the referee immediately stopped play awarding a free kick to the visitors in a very dangerous position. To compound the obvious error, Holker then smashed the ball home into the top right-hand corner of the Ashton goal to restore the two-goal advantage. It has to be said that it was a tremendous strike but from a free kick that was without doubt a travesty of justice and a game changing situation, which ultimately proved to be the match winning goal for the visitors. Town continued to press forwards though although the game was broken up by a seven-minute stoppage following an accidental injury to the visiting goal keeper

n, Photos by Dawn Marshall

which saw him having to be replaced in the 80th minute of the game. On 84 minutes substitute Rustam Stepans smashed the ball home reducing the visitors lead to one goal again but Town couldn't get the elusive equaliser, being denied by two further bizarre refereeing decisions which saw goal bound efforts on the Holker goal blocked by outstretched arms of a defending player. On each occasion the arm was well away from the body, above the defender's head in an unnatural position and on each occasion the referee's decision was to award a corner kick to Town when the correct decision in law would have been a penalty kick. As the game neared its conclusion the referee indicated an additional six minutes to be played despite there having been a stoppage exceeding that for the injury to the visitor's keeper and numerous second half substitutions being made. Town continued to push for an equaliser in added time, and despite a visiting player going down injured and requiring treatment lasting a further minute in added time, the referee ended the contest bang on six minutes of added time arriving. A disappointing and underserved result for the lads who's performance, particularly in the second half deserved at least a point from the game, if not a victory.

MaNAGERS NOTES Good Afternoon. Let me welcome Chadderton FC to Profiles park. I hope you have a nice time here without too much success. This is a game that can‟t come quick enough having missed the Saturday bank Holiday fixture against AFC Bury due to their landlords Radcliffe having a home game that clashed with our fixture. Last time out against Holker Old Boys we started too slow. We have been excellent in spells but the slow start we had to the season has found us chasing early on. Picking up wins game by game is vital for us at the minute and this is one where I want the 3pts. We have this week lost Kieron Alley to Cheadle Heath Nomads where Kieron will get more game time. Kieron has struggled to break into my starting 11 therefore decided on pastures new. We won‟t be going out and getting a new signing to replace him as what we have in the squad at the minute is far good enough to compete at this level.

This is something the lads are aware need eradicating out of our game and will be something we will aim to fix right away. After the slow start we then dominated the game for 80 minutes and in the end got robbed of the points due to a refereeing error. This is something we can‟t dictate but We look forward to playing for you all only something we can learn from. today and your support this season has been special. In terms of the start of the season so far, I would of liked 3 more points. It‟s nice to be Best wishes where you want to be early on and a place in the top 5 is where we want to be. Demps.
