Welcome to our club Good evening and welcome to Profiles Park for this afternoons North West Counties North tie against Daisy Hill. Wow. What a few days. Let me start by simply saying that Saturday away at Nelson was simply not acceptable. As Chairman I take full responsibility and I do not work my arse off all week to watch my team play like that. I 100% back the lads whom are here, and within a heartbeat I would be in their corner if needed, however from 445pm on Saturday something needed to change.

I have followed Biggs and his journey since I am absolutely delighted to announce the leaving us and have been secretly smiling appointment of Lee Bignell as Ashton Town as he has done exactly what I wanted him Manager. to do. What we lack at the minute is a Biggs, and I am made up that the time has fell just right with him being unattached for the last few weeks from him leaving Prescot. Adam takes the role of Head Coach. It was very, very important that Adam was on board with this move, and 100% Adam was my priority. Adam will have a very successful career in football and am made up that we still have him in our locker. Incoming, and also returning is Michael Smith as Assistant Manager. Mouse went on to be a huge part of the Rylands backroom team that won the FA Vase, and then latterly worked at Ramsbottom United. Mouse was very highly rated when he was here last and he left very prematurely under Demps. When Biggs said Mouse was on board I genuinely fist pumped as I truely believe we have a very special trio here now at the helm of our club. When Biggs left us I promised him that I would call when the time is right. The time is right, but 100% this is to work alongside Adam James whom has been outstanding for us.

This is our time. This is when we now collectively step up and battle. Players. Fans. Management. The season starts tonight ! Mark - Club Chairman

HISTORY OF ASHTON TOWN as Ashton Town Association Football Club originally joined the Div 2 of the Lancashire Combination in 1903 and were promoted to Div 1 in their 1st season. However, quickly relegated back to Div 2 after finishing 16th. Towards the end of 1910/11 season the club withdrew from the league and fixtures were taken over by Tyldesley Albion. The Club was reformed in 1953 as Makerfield Mill FC and after a short spell in the Wigan Sunday School League. They played in the St Helens Combination League for three years before joining the Warrington and District Amateur League in 1958.

The founder was a persistent man named Derek „Mick‟ Mycock. In 1962 the Club was forced to move from its original ground at Windsor Road due to land development and it was at this point the Club name was changed to Ashton Town AFC. Home games were played on a public park pitch at Whithill Street Recreation Ground in

Bryn until 1964 when the Club purchased a piece of land at Edge Green Street which was previously the home of Stubshaw Cross Rovers.

This became the Club`s new home, and development of the ground began. In 1969 the Clubhouse was completed, and was opened by Liverpool and England star Roger Hunt. Then in 1975 the present dressing room facilities were built.

Other volunteers to mention are Steve, Stefan, Denise, Ian, Dawn, Peter, Clare, Joanne and more recently, Keith whose dedication and work rate is second to none on quite often a day-to-day basis. It would go amiss if I didn‟t mention at this point Brian Cunliffe (pic below), who has on and

The formation of the North West Counties Football League 1982 saw Ashton Town join as founder members, and the Club has remained in the league ever since with the exception of season 1985-86, when they played in the Manchester League while essential ground maintenance work was carried out to bring the ground up to stringent ground grading requirements for the NWCF League. Throughout the years there have been many custodians of the club, owned by no-one, powered by volunteers. I‟ll surely miss out a host of names here but….Notable is the involvement of Jack Longstaffe, Pat Dooney, Barry & Sandra Longstaffe, Gordon Ellis, Les Bailey, Len Riley, Malcolm Magrath, Billy Pomfrett R.I.P 5/5/20 (right pic far right) and Jimmy Cahill (pic below far right). The latter two who have clocked up over a hundred years‟ service to Town and Jimmy is still here on a daily basis. In more recent times, Clare and James off, over the years worked behind the Horner made a massive boost to the club scenes painting, digging or mending often with the long overdue formation of a Junior without the right resources for the job…..it‟s people like this who really make a place what it is. So Many to mention, others to forget, but we are here and that wouldn‟t exist if it weren‟t for those who give up their time and effort to keep the club alive. Our motto ...... „Onwards & Upwards‟, sums us up as we now strive for promotion.

Fc Isle of man It's been a good day for FC Isle of Man as they have finally played their first home game on The Island at their home ground, The Bowl, and did so in front of 2012 people. 30/10/21 It had been a long time coming, 16 away games in succession and the club clocking up 4,000 miles in travelling, but The Ravens first home game took place today against Brocton and they marked it with a win too. With a lot of media focus on the club over the last few days and a long wait to get the game on, the game finally took place and ended with the home side recording a 2-1 win. The Ravens had gone behind as early as the second minute as nerves showed and they struggled to clear a corner, the ball fell to Ben

Haddaway who deflected the ball into the net to put Brocton ahead. It wasn't until the second half when the home side really took control of the game and Jack McVey levelled on the hour. Ten minutes later the crowd were delighted when Luke Murray put The Ravens ahead, whoch was the way it stayed. A good win for the home side but more importantly the club are up and running with home games, safety measures are in place and the Isle of Man has its own team playing on the doorstep representing the Island in the National League System.

Notes from the Head coach Good evening everyone! First of all, let me welcome Daisy Hill to Profiles Park for tonight’s game. Both teams are in need of a win and hopefully we can come out victorious on the night. I want to take the chance to welcome Lee Bignell and Michael Smith back to the club. Results over the past few games have not been good enough. Although performances have been better, the results have not. We have bolstered the management team further and now we need to kick on and get us back up to the top and challenging for a top 5 spot.

What happened in the second half was simply not good enough. We did not match their intensity and dropped deeper and deeper as the half went on and they fully deserved to come away with a draw. Two vital points dropped at home.

It was great to see Jay White back in the goals on Saturday away at Nelson. We had a great start to the game with Jay scoring after brilliant build up play. After that, Nelson deserved the three points with their overall performance. In difficult conditions, we We have seen a few new players join over did not play good the past seven days. Jay Tomo has rejoined football at all and is the club, Bradley Williams and Kevin something that we need Cringle have both joined from South to improve on tonight. Liverpool and Tyler Magee has joined from Tommy Grindrod took a Widnes. All players have featured in the knock and was last two games and we are looking forward substituted early on, to working with them for the rest of the hopefully he is not out for a while and is season. back on the playing field soon. Our first half performance against Campion last Saturday was absolutely brilliant. We led 2-0 at the break and it should have been more, they simply could not cope with us. If we put more performances in like that we will pick up a lot of points.

We are looking forward to putting in a good performance for the fans tonight and picking up three points. Your support is vital for us and greatly appreciated, get behind the boys and let’s make it a special night for everyone! Adam.

On this day 9TH NOVEMBER 9th November 1889 When Notts County found themselves a player short for their Football League match against Aston Villa on November 9th 1889 they borrowed a player from their near neighbours, non-leaguers Nottingham Forest. The match ended 1-1 at Trent Bridge but Villa objected saying the borrowed player was ineligible as he wasn't registered to play for County. The League Management Committee upheld that complaint docking Notts County one point and fining them £5. The player Notts County borrowed was Tinsley Lindley who was a remarkable character. As a 16-year old he scored a hat-trick on his debut for Nottingham Forest and later scored 14 goals in 13 appearances for England. He wore walking shoes rather than traditional football boots as he could run quicker in them and remained an amateur player throughout his playing career. He also played County cricket for Nottinghamshire. He also studied law at Cambridge University and was a barrister and in that capacity took charge of County's appeal against the punishment claiming that by imposing both a fine and a points penalty Notts County had been punished twice. A General Meeting of the League clubs accepted his argument dropping the one point deduction but increasing the fine to £25 9th Nov 1990 Love him or hate him Mark Lawrenson was a well-known as a football pundit on TV but he once had a 'proper' job in the game. After a long and successful playing career with Brighton, Preston and

Liverpool he dipped his toe into management but that career came to an end on 9th November 1990. After a little over a year as manager of Fourth Division Peterborough United a fallout with the clubs' board saw him leave the Posh and those television cameras were waiting. 9th November 2000 The day after an Old Trafford crowd of 66,776 had seen Manchester United defeat Dynamo Kiev 1-0 to narrowly qualify from their Champions League group United captain Roy Keane criticised the poor vocal support the team had at the match. His main complaint was directed to the fans in the hospitality boxes with Keane saying 'they have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches and they don't realise what's going on out on the pitch.' From then on people in hospitality boxes became the prawn sandwich brigade while Roy Keane couldn't escape the association with the crustacean, years later many shops gave buyers of his newly published autobiography a free prawn sandwich! 9th November 2016 Donald Trump was declared the next President of the US of A just months after the shock Brexit vote and we were all told why this had happened, it was Leicester City's fault! It seems that City's shock Premier League title success gave hope to all the underdogs in the world that they can stand up and be successful. So the world voted for Brexit and Donald Trump. Well, I can see the logic!
